Chapter 7 Jessica Tries To Meet Devon

As Devon makes sure Katherine is fine, he says "Katherine, I have to go to the office. My staff is coming today. I have to meet them and let them know about us."

Surprised Katherine says "What? Your staff knows about us?"

Devon smiles and says "Yes, they all know everything. Katherine, we never hid any of this from anyone. My school, college and colleagues all know I'm engaged and they know that I'm waiting for you."

Getting a little sad Katheirne says "What? I never told anyone, and to tell whom, I have always been indoors."

Devon comes over and sits beside her and says "Katherine, the more you speak about the time, the more I feel guilty, I should have acted sooner."

Katherine gets anxious and says "No, no, that's not what I mean. Devon, you came, this is my victory. Just can I tell James."

Smiling Devon says "Don't worry, he'll know soon. Ok, I have to go now, ok."

As Devon comes to the office he sees Clive is talking with his staff. Clive comes over and says "Devon, your staff has come. I have set up the area as you said."

Devon comes over and says "Clive thanks, (Looking towards his staff) guys thanks for coming at such short notice."

Diana comes over and says "Devon, is it possible you call and we don't come."

David says "Devon, we had to come, and Rodrick has taken care of everything. The files have been uploaded, we just need to link the server and we can begin. Plus a virtual conference room is also set up so you can deal with the matters right from here."

Diana says "Oh..." But she stops as she sees James is coming.

Seeing Diana stop, Devon looks back and sees James is coming and says "James? You are coming now?"

"Yes, I had some work on the way." James says as if he doesn't care what Devon has to say "Anyways, whatever for me only Katherine is my boss."

Just then a lady comes and says "Excuse me, can I meet Mr. Devon?"

Everyone looks towards the voice and they see a lady probably around 28-29 years old, with brown eyes and blonde hairs.

Diana comes forward and says "And how can I help you?"

Looking at Diana, Jessica says "I don't think you are Devon."

Diana says "Yes, but I am his secretary, so you can tell me and If I feel the meeting is needed, I'll get you an appointment."

As Diana is talking with Jessica, Mitchelle comes over and escorts Devon and his staff to their section.

"Thanks Mitchelle," Devin says as he is looking at Jessica "Do you know her?"

"No, seeing her first time." Mitchelle says feeling a bit uneasy "But, sir..."

Devon says "Please, call me Devon."

Continuing, Mitchelle says smiling "Ok, Devon, I don't know why but she has the same look James has."

Confused Devon says "Same look James has, as in?"

"Well, you know, the intruder, thief, predator type of look." Continuing, Mitchelle says "And, why is she looking for you? (she sees Devon is as confused as her), Ok don't worry, I'll find out. (as she goes back she says to Devon) and don't come out."

As Mitchelle comes out, she sees Diana is still not allowing Jessica to meet Devon without an appointment.

Coming over Mitchelle says "Diana, why don't you go set your office. I'll take over."

Diana looks back and says "She's here for Devon, I should..."

Smiling Mitchelle says "Oh, don't worry. Today is your first day, relax. Please let me handle."

Agreeing, Diana leaves and Mitchelle steps forward and says "Yes, Miss Jessica, so what can I do for you?"

Getting irritated Jessica says "For the last time, I want to meet Devon. NOW."

Keeping a calm look Mitchelle says "Well, now that's just not possible. You see Miss Katherine is not fine and Mr Devon is busy so, it would be better of you let me know what or rather why you want to meet Mr Devon, and our staff can handle ...."

"I have a business proposal, can you deal with it?" says Jessica and continues saying "Can we continue without him?"

Mitchelle says "Miss Jessica, you are totally underestimating the staff of Sunrise Resorts and Osborn Events Enterprises. Please this way."

Mitchelle escorts Jessica to David and says "Excuse me but David, Miss Jessica wants to meet Mr Devon for a business proposal."

David gestures to Jessica to take a seat and says "Business proposal, huh, please take a seat."

As Jessica takes the seat, she says "I am interested in the events management business but I'm not much familiar with it. I have an upcoming college reunion and I want it to be grand. So..."

Before she could complete her sentence, David says "Oh, so are a client. Well, in that case, you have no reason to meet Devon for that. I can help you out on that. Though, that's not a business proposal."

Taking a sigh Jessica says "I will talk about the business matter only with..."

Just then James comes and says "Hello David, I'm James the ....(he stops on seeing Jessica)."

Seeing James, David says "James, I know you are the PR, but please not when someone is in my office."

"Ah, I...I actually came to show you around as Miss Katherine is not here, and you may be?" James asks to Jessica

Looking at James, Jessica was about to answer but David says "James, Miss Jessica is here to meet Mr Devon."

Getting a bit happy Jessica says "Finally, we seem to be on the same page."

"Miss Jessca, I just told him why you are here, not that you can meet him. So, if you can't tell me..."

Stopping David's sentence midway, Jessica says "I just told you right now, I want to host a reunion gathering of my college friends, so how can you help me?"

"Well, in that case, why don't you let me show you some ideas, rest if you have a theme, please let me know." says David in a calm tone "After all, we at Osborn Events Enterprises cherish our customers."

With a smile Jessica says "OK, then please let me know, and it should be the latest."

David says gesturing her towards his office "Sure, why not we go to my office then."

Agreeing Jessica goes off towards David's office. Seeing her go to David's office, James says to himself 'What the hell is she upto? The longer she stays here, the more I'm in danger. What do I do? How to get rid of her.

Just then Diana says "James, David is calling."

Coming out of his stance, James says "What? Ok."

As he enters David's room, he sees Jessica is sitting and then David says "James, here (David hands him a file) as the PR, I'll let you finalize the event setup. And, this is Miss Jessica, she's our new client."

Jessica looks at James and says "Nice to meet you Mr James."

James also gives a smile and says "The pleasure is all mine Miss Jessica, then why don't we go over to my office."

David gestures to Jessica and Jessica gets up and leaves.

As they enter James' office, James closes the door in haste and then pushes Jessica towards the wall and says "What the hell are you doing? Do you know all of my work will be drained in water if they find out cause of you?"

Pushing James back, Jessica says "How dare you touch me? And what did you say, your work? If you had done your work, that Devon would not have been having 50% shares. Now I have changed my plans. Now I intend to become Mrs Devon Osborn."

James laughs out crazily and says "What? Mrs Devon Osborn? Are you crazy? (humping) Better take a look in the mirror?"

Getting angry Jessica says "You are the one who needs to. After all, you are the one she rejected for an overseas fiance, not me. Now, do your job and show me the themes so I can get on with the event."

Looking confused James says "So, you are organizing a college reunion."

Jessica says "Yes, it's only for my close friends."

"Ok, then let's get to work." says James and begins to show Jessica the themes.

After a while Jessica takes leave and James goes to David's office and says "Here, this is the theme she chose. And, she wants to have a special bus to pick her friends and drop them off as well."

Looking surprised David says "When did we become travel agents?"

"I know, but I already said yes to her so, we have to arrange something." Getting a bit serious James says "Oh, and she will send the list of whom she is inviting with their address to you."

Looking at a paper, David says "Ok,I'll look into it."

As David is going through the paperwork, he receives an email. As he reads it, he calls Devon and says "Devon, you're on Jessica's invite list."

Surprised Devon says "What is this Jessica up to? Ok, at the present I'm with Katherine, let me come back, then I'll see."

As Devon disconnects the call, Katherine says "What's the matter Devon?"

Devon says "Actually, yesterday a new customer came who insisted on meeting me. Though our staff took the matter in their hands. Turns out she came for some business proposal then later said she wants to organize a college reunion of some close friends. So, David handled the matter and now he says she sent a list of the ones she is inviting for the reunion. My name is in the list."

Smiling Katherine says "Oh, that's it. Devon, as the owner of her event management, she might be inviting you as a humble gesture. Just go and attend for a bit, then you can leave."

Smiling Devon says "Ok, rest for now, tomorrow you can go home."

And so the time comes for Jessica's party. All of the guests arrive in time and the party begins.

In a while Devon arrives. Seeing him, everyone's heads turn and they all start asking one another "Who he is?"

Coming forward to greet Devon, Jessica says "Hi, (she hugs Devon) thanks for coming and everyone, please meet Mr Devon, CEO of Osborn Events Enterprises. He's my special guest for tonight."

One guy says "The Devon Osborn, wow! It's a pleasure to meet you."

Others also recognize him and greet him. And so the party goes on with Jessica keeping on trying to make Devon look towards her.

After each of her attempts failed, Jessica calls a waiter over and whispers something in his ear.

After a while, the waiter comes over and offers Devon a drink. After drinking the whiskey, Devon feels dizzy.

Jessica comes over and says "Mr Devon, looks like you don't feel well. Please come with me."

She brings Devon to a room and helps him get in bed.

"Mr Devon...Mr Devon....(Seeing he is losing his consciousness) Devon, relax, now everything will be ok."

At the hospital, Clive comes to discharge Katherine.

"Uncle, where is Devon?" Katherine says looking anxiously for Devon "Why is he not here to receive me?"

Clive says "Katherine, Devon did not come back yet from the party. He didn't come home or the office. I tried to call but he's phone seems to be out of power."

Getting Worried, Katherine says "I hope he is ok."

As Clive drops Katherine home, Devon arrives, seeing him he says "Devon, where were you? Katherine is so worried."

Devon says "Sorry for worrying you."

Clive says "It's ok, just go, she's worried."

As Devon comes in, Katherine sees Devon and gets up, runs over and hugs him. But seeing him give a cold shoulder, she says "What happened? Did I do..."

Devon says "Katherine, you just came back from hospital, how could you do anything wrong?"

Making a small sad face, Katherine says "Then why are you not happy on seeing me?"

Devon pushes Katherine away from him and says "What if I say, I cheated on you?"

"Huh? I just got back from the hospital and rather than comfort me, you are scaring me." getting angry "Hoesntly, I was better off at the hospital"

With an emotionless look, Devon says "Katherine, I have decided to date Jessica."

Katherine literally falls down as she hears Devon say this.

Picking her up, Devon says "Katherine, you can't hear me, how will you see me with her then?"

Taking heavy breaths, Katherine says "What? What are you saying? See you with Jessica, why?"

Devon puts his hands on Katherine's shoulder and lifts her and makes her sit on the bed. Then kneeling in front of her, he says "Katherine, Jessica is Denny's family friend and he is buying the land for her. Yesterday at the party, he also came, and they were talking about the resorts. I have an intuition, they have something going on. And...and..."
