Chapter 7 The Unappreciative Woman

Vernon refused to give up his pride. If Danielle didn't care for him, he wouldn't concern himself with her either. Caught in a dilemma, he couldn't stand to see her in danger deep inside him. Unfortunately, Stefan didn't attempt to sway his decision.

Just then, Vernon's phone rang unexpectedly.

With a cold expression, Vernon glanced at the screen. Upon seeing the ID "Wife," his eyes lit up.

But his face remained cold.

Pressing the answer button, he inquired, "What is it?"

Danielle was taken aback by his cold tone, and her voice involuntarily softened.

"Vernon, I need to borrow some of your people."

"What?" Vernon scowled.

Danielle candidly explained, "My father contacted me today and requested me to return home. I am sure it is a trap. Although I am not afraid, I was hoping to borrow some bodyguards from you. Is it possible for you to arrange that for me?"

She planned to make a grand entrance and deliver the Gilberts a sizable "surprise."

She had people working for her, but borrowing Vernon's was more convenient.

Vernon found solace in her admission and scoffed, "You only think of me when you need me."

"Of course." Danielle didn't understand his frustration, but she knew she had to appease him. "We're a couple, so it's only right that I'd turn to you for help."

A couple... Did she just address them as a couple?

Vernon took a deep breath and declared, "Since we really are a couple, myself and everything I have belongs to you. You're free to do as you please."

His statement indicated agreement.

Danielle smiled with delight. In this life, she found Vernon surprisingly agreeable.

"Thank you!"

She quickly expressed her gratitude and hurriedly ended the call.

Vernon was a little unhappy. This woman truly only sought him out when she needed something.

This unappreciative woman!

But his mood noticeably improved after the call.

Once the call ended, Danielle gathered the villa's bodyguards.

Five minutes later.

Ten luxurious cars paraded out of the villa district in single file, heading straight to the main road with determination, making their way to the Gilberts'.

At Shane's place, Hattie wept inconsolably in his embrace, "Dad, how can I ever show my face again? Several producers have already severed contracts with me due to this!"

She had fought through countless obstacles to attain her current standing in the entertainment industry. Now, all her accomplishments were in shambles!

"Honey, over the years, I've treated Danielle like my own child. Regardless of her actions, I never blamed her. But this time, she has crossed the line!" Hattie's mother, Julissa Gilbert, despite being almost forty, still had a charming and pitiful appearance when she cried, eyes red.

The two women cried so much that it broke Shane's heart. He felt guilty and quickly tried to comfort them, "I have already reached out to Danielle and asked her to come back. I will make sure she kneels down and apologizes to you both later! She won't escape punishment this time!"

Shane's anger flared up as he spoke about it. Hattie's scandal had made him a laughing stock and the subject of ridicule.

Hattie shed tears, but her eyes were filled with malice.

She couldn't do anything to Danielle in the dungeon because Vernon was present. However, now that she was back home, she planned to get revenge on Danielle and make her suffer a thousandfold for the pain she had caused her.

In her mind, she planned to humiliate Danielle by stripping her clothes off, capturing nude photos, and spreading them all over the internet.

She would ensure Danielle's reputation crumbled as well!

Vernon would undoubtedly abandon Danielle as a result!

While they were talking, the villa's door was forcefully kicked open, and an entourage of suited bodyguards burst in!
