Chapter 9 The Car Crash (Part 1)

Ariane watched her unzip her purse and dump the contents on the table with clenched fists.

To her surprise and that of both Jessica and her minions the card was no where to be found in Ariane's bag.

"What's going on here?" The crowd that had formed slowly parted to let the person who spoke come forward.

They reluctantly explained what happened to Amy and Mrs. Stephenson.

"You who saw Ariane take the card hand over your purse to me. We shall search everyone's purse till we find it" The girl didn't see anything wrong in doing as her former teacher just said afterall she was sure that she put the card in Ariane's purse.

Amy dumped the contents of the girl's bag on another table and everyone watched the sapphire credit card fall out from the bag.

The gasps released through out the room was really loud. People began to mumur and of everyone surprised in the room. Jessica, her cohorts and Ariane had to be the most confused.

The lady who owned the card quickly claimed her property and the girl in whose purse it was found began to plead for pardon. Trying to explain that she had no idea how it got into her purse.

"What should I do with you. Not only did you steal in this reputable event you tried to pin it on innocent Ariane here. Which is the same as tarnishing the image of your alma mata"

"I'm so sorry please it was a mistake. I'm very sorry" the girl looked to Jessica for help but was easily disappointed.

"I clearly told you she was my brother's wife but you insisted on searching her knowing fully well you were the one with the card all along."

"But it was y..."

"Save your breath for when Lucas returns from the meeting" Amy shared a look with Ariane and had security drag her out and everyone went back to their cliques gossiping about what just took place. Ariane was left in awe realising it was Amy who just saved her reputation from ruin not that it wasn't bad already.

"There you are I've been looking for you everywhere" Ariane quickly threw the cigarette in her hand to the floor and grinded it with the sole of her shoe before looking to see who it was.

"Oh it's just you what a waste" Ariane gave a brief sad look at the cigarette on the ground then turned back to look at Ken.

"What are you doing here?" Ken took a seat beside her on the pool chair.

"Umm we went to the same high-school at least for a while... This event is for all ex students ain't that enoughreason for me to be here?"

"Wait are you stalking me?" Ariane thought of it for a moment and decided to tease him a little.

"You are so full of your self. Of course not"

"OH really? First it was the embarrassing meet at the mall, then the flowers in front of my work place, some how you got my number and now you are here in this same quiet spot. What are the odds? Like really"

"Very low. Infact he has been stalking you truly following you everywhere."

"Lucas What's up?" Ken notice the atmosphere getting a little tense and tried to lessen the stiffness but all he got was a glare from Lucas.

"What are you doing out here?" The question was directed at Ariane but she didn't reply.

"Ariane I asked you a fucking question."

"Hey easy man don't yell at her that way." Ken immediately blocked Lucas way when he tried to approach Ariane.

"She is my wife and I'll say what ever the fuck I want to her and however." Ken wasn't surprised by the information he knew that already.

"She is not a child so treat her with respect" tired of the shouting Ariane went away.

Ariane was in her hotel room hurriedly packing up her luggage when someone knocked and came in before she could send them away.

"What are you doing here?" If looks could kill Lucas would be 12 feet in a grave.

"I'm sorry for how I acted earlier..." Ariane cut him short putting her hand forward to stop him from coming any closer.

"I don't want to hear it. You are always sorry that's all you ever say but you don't mean it"

"I do mean it"

"No you don't cause if you did you'd stop seeing me as an item you could possess solely. I cheat on you once and you can't let it go no matter how much I plead or beg. I'm the bad guy." Ariane looked at her watch it was 6:00pm if she hurried she could catch the train and get a flight back home.

"I'll change I promise."

"Tell that lie to someone else I'm filing for a divorce I don't care if my parents disown me, if I lose my job and have to start all over again I don't care. All I know is that I'm no longer going to tolerate you. I won't have to see your face ever. I'm going to start afresh somewhere where I can pretend I don't know you."
