Chapter 5 Resign Or Be Fired

Amy was perched on Ariane's desk they had been talking about the sudden development since they returned from the conference to her office.

"Why do you think he bought it? Wait do you think he's going to fire the both of us. He has never really liked me and you pissed him off real bad. I feel like he just tolerates my existence because I'm your best friend"

Someone knocked on the door and walked into her office. Ariane frowned at the sight of the security guard she had had more interactions with security personnel's of the company in just 4 hours than she normally did in a week

"Miss. Ariane the new owner asked that you come to the executive lounge." Both girls stared at each other and suddenly Ariane was scared maybe her best friend was right afterall and Lucas was going to fire her.

"Am I allowed to know the reason?"

"I have no idea but he's been calling in some head of departments" She seemed to relax a little after learning it wasn't just her.

"Come on in" That was the reply Ariane got when she knocked on the door of the executive lounge.

Lucas was sitting on a desk reading a file when she walked in. Ariane tried her best to remain calm no matter what he said or did.

"Miss. Ariane Tyson doesn't seen right I'll have a talk with the human resources department to update this I personally think Mrs. Ariane Morreti King is better..." Ariane didn't say anything in reply still wondering why he called her.

"Do you know what this is?" He was waving a document around.

"How am I supposed to know?" Lucas laughed like she said something funny and it was beginning to get on her nerves how happy and calm he was. This was her job he couldn't just come in and mess around because he had the power to.

"Come closer and read it yourself" Following his instructions reluctantly she snatched the document reading what was written on it. It was a sack letter Amy was right he really was going to fire her.

"But what did I do? I've been with the company for 4 years and I can say I'm the best at what I do"

"That sounds kind of arrogant however I wasn't the one who signed this it was your CEO. Its clearly dated to last week I just finalised the transfer of ownership yesterday. I wanted to tell you last night when I came home but you were fast asleep"

"Why are you telling me all this?" She was still in slight shock not sure what to say. Why would the company suddenly want to sack her?

"I've spent sometime with your boss and he's not one to make foolish decisions since he personally decided it was right to sack you I'm not sure if I should let you stay with the excuse that you are my wife. What if you actually did something wrong. This is my company and any loss it takes is mine but then again I mean I could always just tear this up..."

Ariane dragged the document out of his hands and tore it up furiously, catching him by surprise.

"I could just have them print another one" Seeing that she was close he reached out and pulled down her hair from the neat bun she had tied with much effort scattering it all over. He was enjoying this playing with her.

"What's your problem? Why did you call me here if its only about this then forget it I'll soon be resigning anyways. I founda better job" Ariane was saying nonsense out of anger in all honesty she had no plans of resigning.

"Don't you want to know what happened to your boy toy?" He pulled her closer even as she protested using his finger to smudge her lipstick all over.

"What did you do to Jared?"

"I'm very jealous by nature and I of course won't be sharing you my wife with any body. He also leaked this company's information to a rival company." Fear it was written all over Ariane's face fear for her life and Jared's

"Why are you doing this to me? Everything between us ended years ago. Why come back now? Leave Jared out of all this. He didn't do anything wrong you are just trying to poison my mind against him but it won't work. I know Jared and he'd never do such."

"I'm doing this because I love you, I never stopped loving you. I've been trying to make it up to you but you won't let me. Ari I love you more than anything else. What happened that night was a very bad mistake I swear on my life it will never happen again I don't mind spending the rest of my life trying to make it up to you. Jared seems to be getting in the way of you forgiving me that's the only reason I bother to waste effort on him."

"How do you want to make it up to me? By forcing me into a marriage with you? How exactly, make me understand cause I'm lost. If I had died that night would you still be trying to make it up to me?" Lucas didn't know what to say he had actually thought that she would warm up better to him once they were living under the same roof but he was wrong.

Lucas was attending to some files on his laptop when his younger sister barged in to his office with her best friend Pamela he momentarily looked up before going back to what he was doing.

"Didn't anyone teach you something called manners and how you are meant to knock before you walk into any room"

"You got married and I wasn't invited!! And to that poor urchin Ariane. How could you stoop so low I can understand you playing around with her as your toy but marrying her!" Her yelling yielded result she finally got his full attention.

"My decision is just that 'Mine' let this be the last time you open your mouth to call Ariane names or walk in here without permission to question my authority now get out of here before I actually get angry" Jessica huffed turning around to share a knowing look with Pamela before storming out.

"I thought we were friends you didn't think it right that I knew you were getting married?" She stood up from the chair and tried to sit on the desk.

"Don't even try it if you don't want to lose your legs" she hurriedly sat back down on the chair

"Did you know that Ken just returned to this city two weeks ago" now she had his attention fully.

"Ken Miller?" Lucas was thinking on the possibilities of all the reasons why that bastard could be back in town. His sources told him that Ken had been living in another country for years now why was he back now.

"I shouldn't really be telling on her you know Ariane is my friend too" even as she spoke her hand reached for his across the desk till it was stabbed by a pen.

"The only reason I didn't stab right through your hand is because I love this desk and I don't want your worthless blood on it. Best tell me what I want to know while I'm still asking nicely".
