Chapter 6 Magical dream

Are you Mrs. Ann?" One of the hospital midwives asked.

Having her wedding ruined, she nearly declined the 'Mrs.' title attributed to her name.

Everyone calling her 'Mrs. Katy' pissed her off but she had no say but to keep mute to let everything slide.

Having seen Katy for a long time, Billy had no idea what Katy had recently gone through.

His heart sank when he heard the midwife add Mrs. to Katy's name.

The Katy Ann she knew was single, he didn't know she was now married.

After mulling over what he has just heard, he curiously interrupted the midwife.

"I think you are talking to the wrong patient, nurse. The beautiful young lady is Miss Katy Ann but not Mrs. Ann"

The midwife pondered over what he has just said and went through the files she was holding to see if she made a mistake.

After finding no matched name as Katy's, she asked again.

"Aren't you Mrs. Katy Ann?"

Katy didn't want Billy to intrude into her personal affairs so she hesitantly replied.

The midwife got more confused so she further inquired "Did you get admitted here on the 14th of this month?"

Confused about what was going on, Billy quickly asked "You got admitted here? What happened to you, Katy?

"It is a long story; I'll explain everything to you."

The midwife sighed in relief when Katy affirmed through her statement that she was the one.

Billy was impatient to know why she was called Mrs. Katy.

"Where from that Mrs. Title added to your name? When did you get married?"

Annoyed by the incessant questions of Billy, she blurted "I am married!"

Shocked by the sudden answer he exclaimed "Married?"

His reactions irritated her "Can you please give me a break?"

As strong as he was, he didn't know he would be so offended by the way Katy spoke to him.

If Katy was to be someone else, he would have thought her a great lesson.

This time he had no power because when it comes to the matters of the one he truly loved, he was a loser.

"I am sorry dear; forgive me if I offended you in any way." He pretentiously apologized.

The midwife presented some files to Katy "We need your husband's signature on this file hopefully by the end of next week."

She smiled and added "congratulations Mrs. Katy, your twin babies are perfectly fine. I am the one who is going to monitor you till you deliver peacefully."

Dumbstruck by the midwife's last statement, Billy nearly fainted.

"Katy is pregnant already?" He softly mumbled, surprised about the news.

On his face, one could see the change in expression. He was struck to the core.

Clouded on his mind were numerous unanswered queries.

He has already provoked Katy so there was no need to ask her further questions.

Worried about the shocking news of his lover's marriage and pregnancy, he stood there quietly without attempting to say a word.

"What the heck! Where am I going to get this guy's signature on this file?"

Katy thought and slapped her forehead hard.

She rubbed her hand through her face trying to collect ideas of how to get David's signature on the file.

Billy noticed the uneasiness on her face so he drew near to her and asked "I can see you are not okay; can you tell me what the problem is?"

With eagerness drawn on his face, everything indicated he was willing to help.

Remembering how David broke her heart, stole her project, and treated her as trash, she couldn't help but cry.

Billy tried to comfort her but it didn't work.

Already, Billy has got his heart broken by the mere hearing of Katy's marriage.

What even hurt him so much was the pregnancy. He knew no matter the caring act he showed to her, there was no way Katy would be his. Though he was disappointed he tried his possible best to not make it obvious.

"You are going to be fine Katy. I have settled all the bills. If there is anything you want me to do for you, tell me so that I do...I have an important Executive meeting and I don't have to miss it, so I will be leaving soon."

He gave her his contact card to contact him in case he needed something.

"You are leaving?" She asked softly.

"Y-yeah, is there anything you want me to do for you?"

Though she didn't love him but having him around was good.

She needed someone who would make her forget the pain David made her go through.

Holding her love life a secret from Billy would do no good to her, after all, she was no more with that unpredictable guy, David.

As she was deliberating, a part of her was pressuring her to tell Billy but the other part of her was resisting.

Though she was from a poor background but she never acted soft.

All the time, she acted strong and confident in everyone's sight.

If she allowed her current pain to overcome her by begging him to stay, she would be a loser in the sight of Billy.

To not look too pitied by him, she used a wise strategy to prevent Billy from going.

"You are leaving so early; you didn't tell me anything about your career life"

Though he had an imperative meeting to attend; Katy's question pulled him as a magnet.

He thought it wise to use that as an opportunity to boast about his enormous wealth.

After all, spending time with the woman you love is never a waste of time.

"I will make judicious use of this time. This is a great opportunity to show everything I have to her. Though she is married but voicing out my wealth would make her regret for turning my proposal down. I will make her feel stupid for turning down a big guy like me." He mumbled.

Billy knew ladies are carried by the things they hear so he tried to spice up all that he was going to say.

"I am the current manager of my family's company. As you already know, we are three siblings and I am the elderly one. My two siblings are not competent enough to acquire the right skills to manage our family's company. Although, I have my dream of building a software company but I've got to manage the family business for a while "

"Software Company?" Katy interrupted his next statement.

She remembered how she had promised to build for his daddy a massive Software company.

She didn't know the guy he rejected had the same dream as her.

"Since when did you plan of building a software company?" Curiously, she asked.

He laughed pompously "After I graduated as a Software engineer."

"What? Since when did you become a Software engineer?"

Billy gave a gentle smile and teased "I became an engineer after you rejected me"

"You've got to be kidding" Katy squinted.

Billy explained to her how the software industry was ruling the whole world.

After graduating as a software engineer, and being born into an affluent family, Billy relied on his parent's laurels.

He depended on his parent's wealth and didn't want to take his carrier any further.

In East Hill, the Gifford family was one of the wealthiest families so there was no need to strive for more when his family had everything.

They were well known for the service of their Company.

It was the trending news about a guy named David Slack whose new software was putting him on top of the richest people in East Hill that awoke Billy's career.

He despised how the guy became the top conversation of everyone in the country.

To put his family back on top of the wealthiest and most famous people in the country, he decided to build a massive software company.

"There is a guy named David Slack who has developed one of the most powerful application software in the country; have you heard about him?" Billy asked.

Katy paid more attention to the conversation when he heard David Slack's name.

She swiftly asked, "Do you know him?"

The momentum with which Katy asked about David made him surprised.

Seeing how Katy paid undivided attention to his conversation boosted his morale.

"I don't know him but I hate the way he is taking my family's position on the social ladder of wealth and fame."

Knowing the poor background of Katy, he knew there was no way she would come across a famous guy like David but he went ahead and asked "Do you also know him?"

Katy kept silent for a while; she didn't know if she should tell him or not.

Should she say, David, bullied her and stole project or should she say he is the father of her twin babies?

Way back high school, she knew how Billy was. He never missed his evil plans. Whatever he tried to do, he made sure they came through.

Katy wanted to revenge David badly but she didn't know how. She would need someone help her do that.
