Chapter 5 Don't hurt my babies

David glared disdainfully at Katy and barked heavily at his guards "What are you all waiting for?

Get this messy lady out of my sight!"

The guards quickly grabbed Katy by her waist and dragged her.

Katy groaned in pain and told them to stop but they didn't listen to her.

"Leave me alone! You are hurting me." She cried.

They dragged her away from David.

David gave a malicious look when he saw her dragged away.

"You will pay this in folds David! You are evil." She kept on cursing.

Satisfied about what the guards have just done, he spruced and made his way to the big hall.

The guards kept humiliating and dragging her so she kept groaning louder.

"Isn't it enough? You are hurting my babies"

"Babies? How can this tiny belly of yours carry babies?" They mocked her.

On her way home, torn and dejected, Katy mulled over David's unexpected change in character.

She pondered about what she did wrong to deserve that ill-treatment.

"Can't his conscious speak to him? Has he forgotten all that he did to me?

The more he thought about it the more tears cascaded down her cheeks.

The old memories of how they met reappeared again.

"I hate the day I met this guy, I was such a fool to be overcome by his love.

I trusted in a whole stranger because I was blinded by love."

Katy was so trapped in her thoughts that, she didn't know she had crossed the pedestrian zone to the main road.

A car that was moving at a great speed horned on her which made her startle.

She fell to the ground as a result of the immediate shock.

The driver applied force to the break which swiftly stopped the car.

Afraid of what has happened, he quickly run to her, carried her into his car, and drove in haste to the hospital.

At the hospital, Katy's heart kept racing. She was afraid of what happened and didn't want anything to happen to her twin babies.

The hospital she was taken to, was the same hospital she discovered that she was pregnant.

"Hello, Mrs........" Her previously attending nurse welcomed her while trying to recall her name.

"I am Katy Ann" Katy softly replied.

"Oo, yeah, thank you" The nurse uttered.

"Mrs. Katy, you are going to be alright" The nurse assured her through these comforting words.

Katy was curious to find out if her babies were safe.

"Don't worry Mrs. Katy; your babies are perfectly fine. You didn't get knocked down by the car, you were just shocked." The nurse guaranteed her.

The driver who took her to the hospital was permitted to see the patient.

"Hey dear, are you alright?" he said softly to Katy.

" I am good, I was just terrified" she answered.

Katy's face looked familiar to him so he stood there for a minute trying to recall where he had met her.

"Do I know you?" Katy also asked trying to recall where she has also met him.

The guy finally remembered her.

"Katy, it is me, Billy Gifford. Way back in high school." He exclaimed trying to help Katy recall him.

"Oh yeah, Billy I remember you vividly" She replied surprised.

"Katy, it has been almost a decade since we met. The last time we met we were in high school."

Billy was Katy's classmate way back in high school. Katy was one of the most beautiful ladies in the school. Billy fell in love with her and proposed to her but got rejected.

With a relentless soul of not to give up on the lady he loved, he kept chasing her.

Though Billy came from a wealthy family that alone didn't persuade Katy into loving him back.

Billy was very famous at school; he was also the type of guy all the ladies dreamt of.

But he had no respect for people who came from poor backgrounds.

Katy rejected him due to his lack of respect for less privileged people.

Billy couldn't ascertain why he got rejected by her. As a rich famous handsome guy, he never knew he would be turned down by a mere lady.

He thought his wealth and fame would win Katy's heart but that didn't work.

After graduating from high school, Katy vanished from his sight leaving him no clue where she was.

Billy searched for her everywhere but to no avail. He spent most of his college years looking for her.

After several years of not seeing any results, he gave up and managed his family's Company.

Billy was a Software Engineer who had plans of building a Software company for himself one day.

He had to manage his family's company for a while because his siblings were not old enough to handle everything.

"Katy, I am so sorry, I was so careless that I nearly knocked you down" He knelt and said apologetically.

She was surprised to see how Billy blamed himself for something he didn't do.

Way back in high school; he had no respect for anyone let alone admit his faults and imperfections.

He had his own rules and no teacher complained about that.

The teachers were afraid to lose their jobs if Billy's parents heard they disciplined their son.

"How on earth can a whole Big Billy kneel in front of me" Katy nearly burst into laughter but she bit her lower lip.

Katy told Billy it was no fault of his but rather hers.

"You did nothing wrong. You only saved me from getting crushed by a car"

Her words alone were enough to soothe his soul.

Katy knew Billy was doing all of these to win her heart but that was never going to work.

Already, she has been hurt and disappointed by someone whom she trusted and loved.

She was healing from all the pain he caused her so falling in love was out of her options.
