Chapter 4 The Signature of a Family Member

The man held Dorothy's hand so tightly that doctors and nurses couldn't release it.

The attending doctor made a preliminary examination for the man, saying, "It's urgent to save him. Let her come in together."

When the doctor asked Dorothy about the man's medical history, she did nothing but shook her head blankly.

Judging from that, even if the patient fainted out, he still grasped her hand tightly. The doctor misunderstood that Dorothy was his girlfriend.

But Dorothy seemed to have bare knowledge about the man. The doctor frowned and said, "How can you know nothing about your boyfriend?"

Dorothy shook her head. She was about to explain for herself when a nurse brought her an operation agreement. "Please sign here before we start the operation."

Dorothy understood that the hospital would not take surgical treatment without the signature of family members, and the man was in danger.

She hurriedly picked up the pen and signed her name with her right hand after a glimpse at the agreement.

The doctor just scanned him again in the next ten minutes, which was different from the operation scene she had imagined.

But she did not dare to ask the doctor.

Dorothy was puzzled when the man slowly opened his eyes.

"How are you feeling now?" asked the doctor.

The man didn't answer at once. He turned his eyes, which suddenly fell on Dorothy's face. Only by then did he reply coldly, "I'm alright."

Dorothy observed him quietly. Even if he was sick, he still looked handsome.

The doctor said, "Well, then, I'm leaving now. I have several surgeries. You'd better lie down and have a rest. If you have any discomfort, call me."

The man nodded, saying, "Help me raise the bed."

He seemed to say this to Dorothy because only two of them were left in the operating room.

Dorothy was muddleheaded and awkwardly shifted her eyes.

The man's words echoed in her mind like a magic spell. Dorothy obediently bent down and reached out to raise the bed.

The man picked up the operation agreement on the side and read one of the pages. "Dorothy Florence."

Dorothy was stunned. Then she remembered the name he had mumbled when he was unconscious. Her hands trembled uncontrollably.

The man could feel the shake of her left hand which was being held tightly by him.

"Are you afraid of me?" asked the man.

Dorothy bit her lips, shook her head, and failed to utter a word.

She coughed and asked tentatively, "I just heard you call a person's name when you were unconscious. What's the relationship between you two?"

The man fixed his eyes on Dorothy. "Lara?"

In a second, Dorothy's face turned chalk white, her palms sweaty.

She nodded, held her breath, and faltered.

"What about you? What's the relationship between you and her? Why are you shaking, and your palms are sweating?"

With a trace of fierce flashing across his eyes, the man tightened his grip on Dorothy, which made her face twisted in pain.

Dorothy felt as if her wrist was almost broken, but she struggled to endure the pain silently.

She apologized with a guilty look. "I'm sorry, It's my fault. I'm entirely to blame for her death. I..."

Suddenly, the man madly pulled Dorothy over and grabbed her neck with his other hand. "You are not allowed to mention her. You killed her and our child in her belly, who even has no chance to have a glimpse of the world! "

"Are you thinking your apology can revive them?
