Chapter 5 Compromise

Dorothy closed her eyes in fear. When she thought of the death of Lara and her baby, she burst into tears.

In the past three years, she had been striving to shorten her imprisonment prison, not only for her freedom but also for atonement for her sins.

"I'm sorry. I know that no matter what I do, there is no way to revive both of them and to heal the wounds in your hearts. However, I'm willing to try my best to atone by meeting all of your requests."

The anger in the man's tearful eyes made his handsome face look gloomy.

"Come here at 8 p.m. tonight."

The man took a card and threw it in Dorothy's face.

Dorothy picked it up, only to find that it was the room card of North Flora Hotel.

She asked in a hoarse voice, "Why?"

The man replied, "You regret your promise?"

Dorothy hastily said, "No, it's just that I got out of prison today. My..." She wanted to tell him her boyfriend was waiting outside the operating room.

But, seeing the man's pale face, Dorothy held it back.

When they left the hospital, Alan took Dorothy to a Chinese restaurant where they frequented. But Dorothy acted absent-minded on the way.

Alan poured a cup of hot water for her and, gently holding her hand, asked, "Dorothy, are you tired?"

Dorothy instinctively took back her hand as her wrist was hurt.

Alan anxiously pushed his glasses and leaned forward. "What's wrong, Dorothy?"

In the past, they had made a deal that they could not hide anything from each other to sustain their relationship.

But now...

Dorothy replied, "I'm just a little tired. I want to go home and have a rest early."

After much consideration, she decided to hide it from Alan temporarily. If Alan knew that she would meet one of Lara's relatives, he would be distressed.

"Then let's order some dishes and take them away," Alan said.

Dorothy shook her head. "Alan, I'm sleepy. Could you send me home now?"

Alan was convinced of her excuse. Moreover, he had decided to let Dorothy move into his house tomorrow since they would get married, no matter what.

Originally, he had planned to tell Dorothy at the dinner. But his mother disrupted his plan.

"Dorothy, let me send you back and help pack up your things. You can move in with me tomorrow."

Dorothy immediately refused him. "We are not married yet. How can I live with you?"

She was a traditional person. Even though she had been together with Alan for so many years, she never had sex with him.

They had been restraining their desire.

What's more, things had changed. Dorothy did mind what Alan's mother had said at dinner.

"Dorothy, I'm a doctor now. I can take better care of you. Please live with me."

Alan had not expected Dorothy would object to his request.

Witnessing her resolution, he had to give up.
