Chapter 7 Pay with Your Life

Dorothy arrived at the only presidential suite on the top floor of North Flora Hotel with a room card in hand.

She took a look at the time on her phone. It's 7:58 p.m...

Dorothy stood still, took a deep breath to calm down, and then opened the door with the card.

What came into her view was a specially designed porch with a pair of pink women's slippers at the door.

She changed into the slippers and tiptoed into the room.

Before coming here, she intentionally changed into her clothes, which had been purchased three years ago, as she felt ashamed to wear the new clothes that Alan bought for her.

Behind the porch was a business-style living room with a sofa, a large LCD TV, a desk, and a man sitting with his back to her.

"You're very punctual."

The man's voice was magnetic as always.

Dorothy did not speak but bit her lower lip tightly with concern.

The man turned around with the swivel chair, put his hands on the desk, and knocked it, which made Dorothy uneasy.

Without uttering a single word, he kept knocking on the table while staring at her as if he was thinking of a way to punish her.

Dorothy was so scared that she couldn't help asking, "Could you tell me your name?"

"Aaron Lee."

His voice lingered in Dorothy's brain. She could perceive the melancholy in his eyes when he spoke out his name.

"He must be a lonely man."

For some reason, the thought struck Dorothy.

Aaron pressed the remote control to open the TV.

Attracted by the TV's sound, Dorothy turned to look at it. The next second, she was stiff in horror.

On the screen was Lara's news being broadcast. Although the corpse was mosaic, Dorothy still seemed to be able to see her face.

Aaron quietly came to stand behind Dorothy, held her neck, and whispered in her ear, "How do you feel when you see it?"

"I'm sorry... I sincerely wish that I could revive her at the expense of my life."

Dorothy wanted to soothe him by saying that the dead couldn't be brought back to life. However, she was strongly aware that the man would be irritated if those words came from her mouth.

Aaron sneered. "It's a good idea to pay with your life."

Dorothy gave a little gasp, fearing that Aaron would kill her.

"Mr. Lee, I know you want my life, but if you do it, you will be put in jail."

Aaron revealed a disdainful smile and did not buy the woman's words. She was ruthless in his eyes.

"Are you too scared to open your eyes?"

Dorothy lifted her eyelids tremblingly. What she had heard from the TV had left an indelible scar on her.

Aaron forced Dorothy toward the TV. "In the past three years, I have been watching it over and over again. Do you know Lara didn't die immediately after being hit by you? It's because you ran away that she and the baby died."

He furiously pressed Dorothy's face against the screen.

Her tears kept flowing down, her heart full of guilt and dread.

Aaron said icily, "Now it's time to prove your sincerity. A life for a life! Right now!"
