Chapter 6 Lie

Returning to the house she rented, Dorothy was surprised by the clean and tidy scene.

She realized that Alan had been taking time to clean here in the past three years to give her a surprise.

Dorothy couldn't help hugging Alan, her tears streaming down. "Alan, you're so nice to me. I'm afraid that you will leave me one day."

Alan caressed her back and said in a soft tone, "That day will never come unless you don't love me anymore. At that time, tell me, and I'll leave at once."

Dorothy could not bear to hear "leave," so she quickly covered his mouth with her hand.

"Don't say that."

She was keen to tell Alan that she also wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.

But at the thought of his mom's words, Dorothy suppressed that feeling.

Alan gently held Dorothy's face, hoping that Dorothy would restore her confidence and liveliness.

He vowed in his mind that he would never let her down, no matter what.

They stared at each other's eyes, which reflected themselves.

Dorothy felt Alan's warm breath as if a breeze blew through her heart.

Their body temperature was on the rise, so was their passion.

Alan swallowed his saliva and said huskily, "Dorothy..."

Hearing his calling her name, Dorothy instinctively answered.

"Can I kiss you?" Alan asked nervously.

Dorothy was stunned as it was the first time that Alan made such a straightforward request.

Since their physical contact was confined to holding hands and hugging, she was too shy to show her consent.

Her hesitation made Alan, who had always been restrained, falter. "If you're not ready, let's do it next time."

Dorothy was somewhat disappointed as she also longed to kiss him at heart.

As she wavered, Alan's phone rang.

Looking at the caller, Alan raised his eyebrows. "It's from one of my colleagues. It must be something urgent. I have to go to the hospital now. I bought you a new phone with the same number. It's on the bedside table. Call me if you have any problems. If I don't answer, I may be in the operating room or a meeting. But I'll call you back at once when I'm free. And your clothes in the room are old. So I bought some new ones. You can try them on. If you don't like them, you can return them. I'll accompany you to go shopping tomorrow if I'm available... "

Dorothy happily pushed him out. "I know. I'm not a child anymore. Dr. Shane, go to the hospital. And your phone has rung for minutes. Aren't you afraid your leader will get mad at you?"

Dorothy had caught a glimpse of the caller, which was a woman's name. She comforted herself that it should be a female doctor, and Alan would not cheat her.

What was more, she had an appointment at North Flora Hotel later.
