Chapter 8 The Suspicious Caregiver

Violet wrapped the bowl in cling film, and there was a plastic-looking tube next to it.

She had seen the caregiver using this tube to feed Julian by inserting it directly from his mouth to his stomach.

But according to his pulse yesterday, Julian could not speak but could still open his mouth and swallow, so this tube was dubious.

Violet wrapped the tube in cling film and took them upstairs to her backpack.

On second thought, she took a blood test tube from Julian's medical kit, drew a tube of blood from him, and put it in her backpack as well.

She went downstairs and dropped a bowl identical to Julian's.

Then Violet took another feeding tube from the cupboard, rinsed it, and threw it in the bin with the broken bowl before starting to make breakfast.

Before she could finish eating, Jasper Reed, the caregiver, arrived.

The carer was tall, with muscular arms and an honest face.

It seemed that Jasper did not expect Violet to be here. He froze for a moment before greeting her, "Good morning, Mrs. Scott."

"Morning. Ingredients for Julian's breakfast?" Violet looked over to what was in his hands.

Jasper smiled nervously, "Yes, feel free to go ahead with your portion. I'll go and cook." With that, he went into the kitchen.

Violet watched his back, her face gradually becoming more complex.

In her last life, about a year later from the present, the carer who had been looking after Julian had gone to prison and died tragically afterward.

This was something that a man told her in a chat, who had been in prison later and went to Country M.

At the end of the conversation, he said mysteriously that the incident seemed to be related to Mr. Scott of the Scott Family.

He also lamented that it was not easy to be a caretaker in a powerful family. Even Mr. Scott, who had recovered to the extent that he could only talk at that time, could easily kill him if he made any mistake.

"So, according to the man, the carer who died is Jasper? Then there must be something wrong with him!"

"After all, even if Julian were ruthless, he would not kill someone just because he was unsatisfied with the way he was being served, would he?"

Violet finished her meal and took her dishes to the kitchen, where Jasper was pouring a packet of herbs into a casserole.

"What kind of herbs are these? How can they be helpful for Julian?" There was a mixture of curiosity and confusion on Violet's face.

"It's a prescription from the head of the Lewis Family. He said it would help Mr. Scott revert to health. I don't know what exactly they are." Jasper scratched his head, a little embarrassed.

Violet gave a quick scan and smiled after finding nothing wrong with the herbs and the prescription.

"The head of the Lewis Family deserves his reputation."

After that, she washed the dishes and went to Dollar's room to feed him and play with him.

It was not until she heard Jasper coming up the stairs that she came out of the kennel.

She saw Jasper with a bowl in one hand and a new food tube in the other.

Violet rushed to stop him, "Wait, I just threw his food tube away this morning. He can open his mouth, can't he? Why don't you feed it in?"

"Because Mr. Scott can't swallow anymore," answered Jasper awkwardly.

Violet had never had a problem with him doing this before. What was wrong with her today?

"Can't swallow? Come here and look."

Violet walked to Julian, lowered her head, and touched a spot on Julian's throat with slight pressure.

Julian's throat knot rolled involuntarily.

Violet immediately turned her head and frowned at Jasper, "See? He can swallow. It might be a little slower. If you keep using the esophagus, he eventually won't be able to do that anymore."
