Chapter 9 Which Woman Doesn't Like a Handsome Man

Miley's heart sank into her stomach. Soon, she hung up the phone and said to Morris, "I have to go to University S, so I must drop you here now."

"It's okay. I'm going the same way." He leaned back and drawled.

Perturbed by Sherly's words, she didn't bother to argue with him and let him have his way.

Seeing her sister get out of the car, the girl who had been waiting outside the campus walked forward immediately. When she wanted to say hello to Miley, her attention was drawn to Morris.

"Miley, who is this?"

Sherly revealed a pure, bright smile. With a glance at Morris, Miley said indifferently, "A client. I had a talk with him before coming here."

Then, she pushed Sherly into the car and sat on the driver's seat. Without saying anything to Morris, she started the car and drove off.

Sherly looked back at the man who still stood at the college gate and asked with curiosity, "Miley, what's his name? Which company is he in? Does he have a girlfriend?"

Miley raised her brows and then frowned. "Why do you ask these? Do you..."

"Is that anything to be surprised at? Which woman doesn't like a handsome man? How old is he? Judging by his temperament and dressing, he must be a successful man. Miley, you don't want me to be single all my life, do you? Introduce me to him, please!"

With pouted lips, Sherly waved Miley's arm softly. Helplessly, Miley could only change the subject. "Stop. What about telling me what's wrong with mom first?"

Sherly paused for a second and said, "Oh yes, I almost forgot this. This is a question I should ask you. What happened between you and Roy? Mom said she would teach him a lesson!"

Sherly's words struck Miley's head like an iron hammer. As such, her mother had already known the affair between Roy and Winnie! What a well-informed woman!

"How much love can be renewed..." The sudden phone ringing gave Miley a start. On answering it, she heard her mother's roar, "Miley, come to the hospital right now! I'm waiting here for you!"

After hanging up the phone, she turned the wheel resignedly and drove to another road. Actually, when she just graduated from university, Mrs. Smith introduced her to a wealthy man and hoped their marriage could strengthen the family enterprise. But Miley refused it, which made her relationship with her mother even worse. Especially after she went together with Roy, her mother drove her out of the family in a fit of temper. That was when she established the advertising studio with Roy. Later, she tried patching things up with her mother, but neither of her parents accepted Roy. They insisted that she break up with him and marry the rich man who they got their eye on. Therefore, Miley had been living outside for the past few years and only visited her parents during festivals.

Now that her mother had learned about Roy's betrayal, her recent life might be a mess again.

Feeling a slight headache, Miley patted her head feebly. On the passenger seat, Sherly was still murmuring about Morris as if enchanted.

"Miley, I mean it. You should introduce me to him when you're free. I really take a shine to him. You have to know that I'm seldom so obsessed with a man."

Miley believed so. Being 168 cm tall and weighing 50 kg, Sherly had a small, delicate face as if carefully drawn by a great artist. Since she was 18, she had been pursued by countless men, but she had never dated one of them. It was beyond doubt that she was rather picky about men.

But Morris Lawrence... Miley instinctively gave him a zero in her heart. How could she introduce to her sister a man who was decent in the daytime while shameless at night?

"No, Sherly, don't be cheated by his appearance. He's not a good man, and it's said that he... he..."

"Go ahead."

Miley frowned, gritted her teeth, and said, "He's gay. So just give up on him."

"Ah? How could that be? He doesn't seem like such a man. Do people say so because he's too chaste and has no affairs?"

When Sherly tried to defend Morris's heterosexuality, he gave a violent sneeze in his own office in the hospital.

Sherly didn't explain and just reaffirmed that he was a gay, while Sherly kept murmuring in disbelief.

Soon, they arrived at the hospital. Before they reached Winnie's ward, they heard a loud noise from inside.

That sharp and extremely aggressive voice was unique to their mother. Miley felt like a wire was penetrating her head from one ear to the other!

After a deep breath, she nerved herself to walk in. On seeing her, Mrs. Smith dragged her over. "Miley, so this is the man you wanted? He's had a baby with another woman behind you! I feel so ashamed for you! People will laugh at us if they know my daughter is fooled by a poor asshole! Miley, you must give me an explanation today, or I won't leave here!"

Miley felt a little disappointed: her mother came only for herself because she couldn't bear being bullied or losing face.

Mrs. Smith's words really put Roy on the spot, but he was somewhat afraid of her and remained silent with a straight face.

Getting no responses from either Miley or Roy, Mrs. Smith became even more furious. She turned her target to Winnie, who was lying on the bed, and continued cursing. Although Winnie's mother was also angry about her daughter, she couldn't allow others to bully her. Therefore, she began quarreling with Mrs. Smith.

Suddenly, the ward became as noisy as a pan with boiling oil.

When the two old ladies were arguing, Roy dragged Miley to a corner with a cold face. "Miley, that's enough! Why did you bring your mother here? Winnie almost lost the baby! Must you make everything a muddle?"

Almost? Their child was safe? Miley felt somewhat disappointed. Before she could reply, she suddenly heard her mother scream.

Astonished, she turned around and saw her mother falling onto the ground. Standing before Mrs. Smith, Winnie's mother said angrily, "Who allows you to curse my daughter? Money isn't everything! Don't go too far!"

Before Miley and Sherly hurried over, the angry woman jumped up by herself, and regardless of her image, she grappled with Winnie's mother.

Winnie's father, who had been watching aside, also flew into a rage. He took up a cup on the nightstand and threw it at Mrs. Smith's back.
