Chapter 5 I'm Slandering You

Umpteen guesses flashed across Miley's mind. One minute later, the man helped her up in a natural manner. "Are you all right?"

While he was calm, she felt so embarrassed that she wanted to dig a hole to bury herself.

"Ye-yes, I'm fine..." But just then, she coughed violently. Roy had used such strength to squeeze her neck that she felt ached in her throat.

"I'd better give you a check." The man grabbed her arm and dragged her to the stairs.

She wanted to refuse at first, but she was also worried about her neck. She didn't plan to die at such a young age, after all. Considering her health, she followed the man to the third floor obediently.

"It's not serious. Just some bruises to handle."

The man behaved just like a professional doctor. With a serious expression, he used medical equipment to inspect her injury and also gave her a prescription. "Apply the liquid medicine when you go home. It'll make the bruises heal faster."

Miley stared at the illegible scrawl on the prescription and then looked up at him. "Is a doctor's salary very low?" Subconsciously, she had classified this man as a money boy. Although he was not the one Miss Miller had arranged to serve her, she suspected that he was also the same type. Or why did a doctor live in a luxurious hotel? Could he afford the accommodation there?

The man stopped writing and raised a brow at Miley silently.

She frowned and said thoughtfully, "Or why do you work as a doctor in the daytime but sell your body at night?"

She swore that she was very serious when she said so. Although it was impolite to pry into someone's private life, this man had also known her secret. So to some degree, she believed she was his close ally.

But clearly, he didn't think so. His face was as gloomy as dark clouds in the dusk sky.

"What about you? Did you buy a man's body because your boyfriend cheated on you and you were lonely?"

"I'm not so filthy as you think." She shook her head immediately, but the pain on her neck made her grit her teeth.

The man narrowed his eyes, lowered his head, and continued to write. Then, he handed the prescription to her.

"Mrs. Shawn, if I'm not mistaken, it was you who broke into my room and seduced me. You got what you wanted from me, and now you are slandering me. Is it not filthy enough?"

She retorted, "I'm slandering you? Do you mean I misunderstood you? Then why do you, a doctor, live in a luxurious hotel? Is it because you take too many bribes and want to spend the money? Ho ho, people all say that doctors nowadays are devils rather than angels anymore. This is quite right. You earn illegal money in the daytime and waste it on extravagant enjoyment at night. I really want to report this to your superiors!"

Somehow, she felt an urge to argue with him or anyone else. Perhaps she was too disappointed with Winnie and Roy.

When she needed to vent her overwhelming feelings, this unlucky man happened to appear in front of her.

In brief, she didn't feel guilty at all. The man frowned, his eyes reflecting a mixed emotion.

"Now what would you say? If nothing, I have to go now. Remember, don't bother me again, or I'll sue you!" With a finger pointing at his nose, she warned as she rose and snatched the prescription from his hand.
