Chapter 3 Excluded in the Family Banquet

Hearing the woman called his name, Joy was taken aback for a moment, then he looked straight at Emma, stood up, and walked towards her.

This was actually the first time they had met. Joy usually concentrated on creation. In the words of Mr. Turner, he "bad friends all the time". Coupled with some performances and so on, he rarely came back home. So every time he came back, his family would gather as much as possible.

"Do you know me?" Joy stood in front of Emma with a faint smile on his face.

"I like every song of yours." She remembered the days when she was rushing for school. It was Joy's singing that accompanied her going through those difficult years.

"That's too official an answer," Joy was slightly dissatisfied, "Which one do you like best?"

"Of course it's "Blue Whale". I played it single cycle for a long time. Can I have your autograph, please?" Emma forgot herself and started chasing her idol immediately.

As soon as Joy opened his mouth, Mrs. Turner interrupted them.

"Hurry up, let's have dinner."

The members of the Turner Family found their places in front of a rectangular wooden dining table that was more than three meters long. Mr. Turner sat in the main seat, with Mrs. Turner, Jessica Turner, Dora and her husband Tom Smith on his right, while Joy on his left.

Emma stared at the spare places, feeling that she should sit along Joy's side, but she was a bit shy, so she deliberately sat a seat further from him.

But before her butt was against the chair, Dora said, "Hey, you are not allowed to sit there."

Emma thought that she had committed some taboo, and quickly stood up straight, "Oh, where should I sit then?"

Dora pointed to the chair farthest from the main seat, "There."

Emma looked over there. There was no tableware in front of the chair, and it was so far from the rich delicacy that she could not get the food even if she stood up. Then she saw the sinister smile on Jessica's face and realized that they were doing this to her on purpose.

"Dora," Mr. Turner stared at his daughter, "how could you say that? Judy is our guest."

Dora looked aggrieved, "Dad, it's awkward to eat with outsiders."

"Judy is our distinguished guest." Mr. Turner emphasized.

In order not to embarrass Mr. Turner, Emma had to accept Dora's proposal, "It's okay, I can sit there. I'm only coming over today to meet all of you."

Dora sneered and looked at her mother, "Hehe, that's funny. You say that as if any of us wants to know you?"

For a while, Emma stared at Dora who had accepted a cosmetic surgery on her face. This person, from her head to toe and from the inside to the outside, including her exaggerated black and white striped wrap dress, was so... bitchy!

Same as her aunt.

Emma remembered that was exactly how the most beautiful girl in her high school had done to her face, so she looked down on such people in her heart.

Emma had a plan in her mind, sitting there according to Dora's arrangement, which happened to be face-to-face with Mr. Turner from a long distance. She wanted to show everyone in the family how the guests were treated in their home.

But two steps later, her arm was caught by a warm palm, followed by Joy's tingling voice, "Sit in my seat."

Before she could react, she was pulled by Joy to Mr. Turner and sat down.

Joy took the seat next to Emma, while Dora sitting on the opposite was so angry that her eyes burst into flames, shouting angrily, "Joy!"

Joy picked up a tempting piece of meat, leaned forward, and put it on his second sister's plate, "Come on, beauty, this is your favorite braised pig's feet. Don't always get angry. It will aggravate your smile lines."

When Dora heard the smile lines, she felt as if she was struck by lightning. She raised her hand to touch her face, her expression slightly startled, and then she rolled her eyes against Joy, "Why are you helping an outsider?"

Mr. Turner also put one in Emma's bowl, "This is the braised pig's feet, Mrs. Stock's specialty to be exact. Have a taste. You have just been in a car accident. Although you are lucky not to get hurt, you still have to make up for it."

Mrs. Turner hurriedly picked up food for her husband, "You, you are still caring about others, but you should eat more as well. Your appetite is getting worse recently. Take care of yourself."

Since the topic was shifted to health, the Turner Family, especially Tom, explained the benefits of various nutrients to the body patiently.

Emma breathed a sigh of relief, staring at the sumptuous delicacy on the table and sighing, "Is this Mrs. Stock a star chef? How did she make such a table of dishes? Especially the plate of steamed lobster, the sauce is fat and flesh is thick, which makes people salivate."

She glanced at Joy secretly and felt relieved when she saw him focusing on his meal without a word.

She couldn't believe that she could eat with her idol on the same table, and even at such a close distance. The fate was really amazing.

Emma began to worry if she was dreaming. If it was a dream, she really hoped that she would never wake up.

With her idol by her side, she was very restrained when she ate. She took a few bites of the pig's feet.

Thinking of Dora's insult to herself just now, Emma felt that she had to eat this meal with dignity. It was fine if she hadn't seen any of these dishes before, but she couldn't show that in front of them. Therefore, she slowed down her pace chewing the food and shifted her gaze from the delicious delicacy to Mr. Turner's face, listening to him tell stories that she didn't understand.

After a while, Dora looked at her father with a flattering expression and mentioned something about their business, "Dad, Tom has been in contact with a few foreign businessmen these days, and they've agreed on some terms to some extent. Now they only need my big brother to come back to the company to make the final decision, but..." Dora said with a distressed and embarrassed look, "Now that he wouldn't get better for a while, and the company needs someone to be managed. What about letting Tom act as an agent for a few days?"

Mr. Turner seemed unhappy, "Your elder brother is not feeling well. Does it mean that I am not capable to manage the company as well? Why can't you tell me?"

"Dad," Dora groaned, "I'm concerned about your body and want you to enjoy your days in peace."

Seeing that his father-in-law was not in a good mood, Tom hurriedly pulled Dora's skirt under the table and said with a smile on his face, "Don't worry. The foreign businessmen can wait. I believe our big brother will get better soon."

Emma snorted inwardly. She didn't expect that it was popular in this rich family to stab her sibling in the back? Taking advantage of her big brother's bad physical condition, she even wanted her husband to replace her brother instead? Emma even began to feel sorry for the eldest one.

Mrs. Turner noticed Emma's gaze and thought she wanted to participate in the discussion of those family topics, so she asked with a sullen face, "Judy, have you prepared Bob's dinner?"
