Chapter 4 Four

The Griffins and Saunders sat at the table in an awkward silence, they had engaged their kids five years ago forming unity between the two family and here they are to broke off the engagement.

Aiden's parent tried talking him out of it but his mind was made up, Alyssa doesn't seems to care what happens she was too busy smiling at her phone to care when they were finally done with the whole thing, Aiden walk out leaving everybody behind he wasn't feeling too good the fact that Alyssa didn't really care a bit about their relationship hurts him she didn't even wait for a long time before flaunting pictures of her boyfriend all over the internet he felt like having a drink he brought out his phone and scroll through his contacts there was really nobody to call, calling Jack is like asking for insults he would only tease him and advise him against drinking too much

"Emily" he thought and dial her line she pick up after the second ring

"Hi friend" she sounded happy he smiled

"Can we met?" he asked

"Why, its way pass lunch time"

"I need someone to drink with" Emily asked for the address he told her and she promised to be with him as soon she could be

He told her about the his broken off engagement as she consoled him they had bottles of beer in front of them he kept drinking his sorrow away, Emily wanted to hug and comfort him but she didn't want to go over the line she just drink with him being careful not to get drunk since he was sure to get drunk, one of them need to be conscious he talked about his love for Alyssa the whole night and it start to get on her nerves.

when it was past eleven she figured it was time to go she took him to the car and got in the driver's seat she asked him for his home address but he was too drunk she can't take him to her house since she lives there with her twins siblings, she decided an hotel will be the best place to go she got him lodged in, it was not an easy job escorting him to the room but she finally got him in and set him on the bed she sat down on the bed beside him to regain her lost strength, she look over to him and he seems uncomfortable with the tie he was putting on she went over to help him remove it, he suddenly grab her hand making her flinch

"Alyssa?" he asked opening his eyes

"It's Emily, am just trying to lose this" he drag her and put her beneath him on the bed

"I really miss you Alyssa" he said touching her face

"Am not Alyssa its Emily, your friend" she said feeling her temperature rise at his touch

"If you are really my friend then don't leave me, I feel so lonely, stay here with me" he pleaded making a cute face.

She laughed at the cute face watching him he snuggled her in his hands and fell back to sleep.

Emily stayed awake for a long time unable to sleep he was too close and his breath on her skin makes her feel hot all over she like the way he hold her but at the thought that it was all because of the influence of the alcohol, she became down if only he was doing this because he like her she adjust her body to sleep and soon fall asleep.

Aiden opened his eyes and look around wondering where he was he look beside him and saw her sleeping soundly, he smiled to himself as he watch her sleep he touched her dry red lips admiring them he brought his head slowly and peck her lips he look back at her but she was fast asleep he wondered how she will react if she found out what he did, he stood up and went to the bathroom he wash his face off, he remember what happened yesterday she must have been bored listening to him all night talking about his ex-girlfriend he took his phone and check the time it was past eight in the morning, wondering if he should wake her up or not, he went over to her on the bed and she turned still asleep he didn't want to disturb her sleep but he can't let her miss school with her hair down she looked more beautiful he stared intensely at her

She open her eyes and he quickly move away looking away from her, she stood up and stretch her body

"You are awake" she said and stood up from the bed and sat at the edge

"Are you okay now? You drank way too much last night" she asked touching him to feel his temperature

"Am not sick I was only drunk"

"And heartbroken"

"Don't you need to be in school?" he asked changing the direction of their discussion

"I don't have class until one in the afternoon" she replied as she walk to the bathroom to refresh up she wore the clothes, Aiden ordered for her she pack her hair up and play with her phone while she wait for him to dress up, they both check out of the hotel and went to a nearby eatery to eat, they departed after eating and both went their different ways.

Emily got home she went to meet Steve in his restaurant they chatted for a little bit before she leave for school, as she sat down and wait for the lecturer alongside with others her mind drift to what Aiden told her about his ex-girlfriend

"he must have love her a lot for him to get so drunk" she thought, she wish she could mend his broken heart but it seems to her he can't let go of his feelings for her she check her time it has been thirty minutes and the lecturer hasn't showed up she really want to have lunch with Aiden she wondered if he already had lunch when it was obvious the lecturer won't be coming she left the class she walk in a hurry outside the school she saw a cab coming she thought of taking it to get there quicker but she already spend much money at the hotel yesterday she start to walk to the subway when she heard her name

"Aiden?"

she turn to where the voice came from it really was him he look so handsome in the blue suit he was putting on she ran to meet him and hug him before she realise it she expected him to thrust her away, but he just return her hug wrapping his hands around her and kissed her on her forehead

"HI" she said shyly but he kept quiet and said nothing, they heeded to an eatery to have lunch.

After lunch they went to watch a movie together, they came out of the room chatting happily when someone bump hard into Emily making her drop her bag and spilling the content on the floor she quickly bend and pick up her stuff on the floor she look up at whosoever it was she wanted to lash out at the fellow but stopped when she noticed her and Aiden starring at each other she wonder who she is

"Do they know each other?"

"You claim to love me and you are already dating another chick? Just a day after we broke off our engagement?"

"And you didn't? There were pictures of you two together even when we were still together"

"So you are trying to get back at me?"

"Don't place so much importance on yourself" she move closer to him and whisper something slowly to his ears, she move back a little and watch Emily's reaction

"It's a pity though my replacement doesn't seems comparable, I bet he's just using you to get himself over me" she snigger and walk away

"She sure is Alyssa "Emily thought as she watch her go she feel like returning back her insults but she held herself she walk away leaving Aiden alone he ran after her.

They entered the car and he drove off there was total silence throughout the ride immediately they got to her house she get down and walk away don't bothering to say goodbye Aiden also got out of the car and followed her, he grab her hand to halt her steps

"Am sorry for what happened back then"

"Why are you sorry? Because what she said was the truth? Am just someone you are using to take your mind off you ex! Am I really just a replacement?" she waited for him to respond but he just stood there not saying anything she look at him disappointed

"I really thought we had something going on, looks like am the only one with that thought" she release his hold on her

"It seems you guys still have something for each other, I thought you were over her" she walk away, while Aiden watch her till she was out of his sight he drove back home miserable and confused.

Emily got home and went straight into her room she jump on her, she buried her head on her pillow burst into tears

"She really thought he liked her, he was always smiling at him and want to be with her every time but it turns out she was just a someone he uses to ease his mind, she never thought it would hurt this much she must have really like him for it to hurt her this much she cried till she fell asleep

"So you kept quiet when she asked you if it was true" Jack ask and he nodded

"Were you using her to get over Alyssa?"

"I guess, I mean when Alyssa left me broken hearted she was the only one that I could rely on I love being with her and she made me forget all about Alyssa" he explained

"Can you tell me more?"

"I just did"

"No I mean how she help you take your mind off her"

"I don't really know how but anytime am with her I forget all about Alyssa all I think about is her and....." He stopped realising what he was saying

"Did he like her?" he thought it hasn't been a month since they met and he already develop feelings for her

"Since you have figured it out you can go back to work you have a lot on your desk, since you were too sick to work in the morning and was busy dating till now" he said and went back to his office leaving him to his thoughts

He has truly grown fond of her, he remember what happened at the hotel, he quickly get up and grab his car key and drove to her house he walk to the building and stop starring at it he called her number but she didn't pick up he stayed there for an hour hoping she will come out, he later left hoping she will be calm enough the next day to pick his call.

Emily woke up the next day with an headache she check herself in the mirror her face was puffy she went to take a shower and dress up for school, she took medicine to ease her headache and ate little breakfast before she head out she had a hard time concentrating in class she sat down in a corner in the cafeteria, as she eats she ruminate about when she and Aiden had lunch together, tears start to wail up in her eyes but she control her emotions, she can't embarrass herself outside

"Emily, here you are" she really don't want a company but Angel already sat down

"Why are you not picking my calls?" she asked impatiently

"Do you know you almost made me flunk my test?" she yelled drawing peoples' attention to them

"What test?" she asked confused

"The one you promise to help me with" Emily try to remember but couldn't she apologise and continue eating

"Is something wrong you don't look too good?"

She open her mouth to reply her when she sight Ned from afar

"I really need to go now" she said and leave she wouldn't want another headache adding to the one she already has, she head to work if though she hate to go she does not want to see his face not yet but she already miss work yesterday just to go on a date with him she can't miss another day not when she's on a bad term with the boss she thought as she proceed to the company she was greeted by her four new friends she set to work immediately

She work on the file she was given and was almost done when the four came to meet her and crowd around her she look at them with a questioning eyes

"You are really lucky to be dating the boss" one of them said and the others nodded in affirmation

"We are not dating, we are just friends"

"I wish I could be his friend too" another said dreaming

"Why don't you introduce us to him, we might get lucky and be his friends too"

"We are not really on a good term now"

"You two fought?"

"Not the kind you are imagining though" she said at the look of her face

"But why didn't anyone talk to me when I first got here? I was totally ignored"

"We were jealous of you and also sacred of you, you seems to know the boss and you got a job most of us here had to go through a lot for, if you don't know, getting job at MAC is hard"

"You know you are the only staff that could take a day off in a week and also come to work anytime you want your pay is on the same level with the staff who work full time everybody was very angry and envious"

She brought her phone in a long while and saw a lot of missed calls, she checked her phone was in silent she has put it in silent when they were in the movies yesterday she open it and saw many missed calls from Aiden, she dial his number but it was not reachable she wondered if she should go to his office she close for work and wait for her friends to walk home together, they keep on chattering but her mind was not with them she has tried his number four times now and it was still not reachable, they got to the subway and waited for bus the four sat down while she stand resting on the pole there

"Boss!" the four chorused at the same time and stood up they greeted him making way for him, he walk toward Emily who was lost in deep thought he tapped her shoulder making her turn to him

"Can we talk?" she nodded and followed him to his car she waved and friends' goodbye and they drove off

"Where are we going?"

"Anywhere we could talk" he answered concentrating on the road they got to the amusement park, the whole place was empty they were just the only one there she walk forward wondering why its empty, she look ahead of her and saw something written in the air

"AM TRULY SORRY EMILY" she looked back at him, he move to meet her and lead her forward the remaining place was suddenly light up making the whole place brighter and beautiful it look like more decoration was done

"I did a little research and found out you love amusement parks"

"Wow" she exclaimed

"You like it?"

"A lot thanks, but isn't this too much for an apology?"

"Not to me"

"Want to ride any" he asked putting her to one of the rides there

They played there alone forgetting the thrift between them for a while after playing for a while they decide to end it they sat down on one of the seats there an inch apart they both stayed silent not saying anything to each other

"Have you ever done something like this for your ex" she suddenly ask

"She never liked stuff like this"

"Why did you like her?"

Aiden does not like where this discussion was going "I didn't bring you here so we could talk about my ex"

"Why don't we talk about us?" he draw her face to meet his since its looks like she has been avoiding looking at him

"I'm sorry for what happened and you are not a replacement of anyone, you are just you"

"Apology accepted" she said and smile at him

"So we cool now" she nodded still smiling

"I didn't really realised this but I miss you so much" he blurted out

"I guess I miss you too" she said biting on her lower lip nervous

"You shouldn't do that you might really bite yourself" he said watching her lips

"can I kiss them?" she look up at him flustered at his request he looked serious his eyes fixed on her lips, he look up and met her eyes they both lock faces, slowly they move in, each in a slow manner still their lips meet, taking each other.
