Chapter 10 Ten

The day went by and Emily got back home she stood at the front of door not going in she's pretty sure her siblings already hear about the issue since it was all over the gossip news, she thought she had perfectly deceive the two when they asked about her relationship with him but now it seems she will have to tell them the truth she open the door and peep in the two were sitting on the sofa their gaze was fixed on the screen she gently close the door trying her best not to make sound with it

"What's she doing?" Louis said his gaze not off the screen, Emily stopped and look at his direction "what he talking about her or the movie they were watching" she wondered she stood there and none of them said another word again she try tiptoeing to her room "looks like she's trying to sneak quietly into her room" Lucy said, her attention still on the screen

"Is she kidding us right now? We have eyes to see her is not like she's invincible" Louis replied her seeing what they are trying to do she walk to them and sat beside Louis "am back" she said and look from the two they still wouldn't look at her

"You are sure working hard seducing your boss"

"Is not like that" she argues

"You always pretend to be innocent and act like you've been working all day trying to fend for the family, so you were just busying working for the CEO in his office"

"I said it's not like that!" she yelled "Aiden is my boyfriend okay?"

The two sprang up on their seat and faced her "what are you talking about?"

"You are dating Aiden Griffin?"

"If you would both calm down let me explain and stop asking questions or making conclusions" she snapped, the two shut up and stare at her waiting for her to spill it all out she breathed out and drop her handbag which she didn't realise she was still holding, she explained all she met Aiden and how their relationship, she of course left some part out, the two were astonished when they heard all she narrated

"So you are dating a billionaire who has cool cars and also own a lot of buildings and..." Emily cut him off "what are you talking about?"

"Don't you know he has collection of cool and expensive cars and he has a lot of building all over the country including other country and the Griffin are influential people both in the country and other outside countries their family is a world on its own" Louis explained excited at the fact that his sister is dating someone with such high social status

"You are sure daring and lucky to even meet with him, aren't you sacred you won't be able to ever match up to him in status" Lucy said looking all serious

"What do you mean?" she questioned

"Your boyfriend is a billionaire with such influent and you are just a college student who is struggling to get by every day, do you think his family will really accept you? What of the society? Can you really handle the gossips?"

Emily kept quiet and sat back replaying all what Lucy said she really didn't have a full knowledge of her boyfriend she has always seen him as a plain handsome guy she likes but it seems he's not a plain guy but a big deal she remembered the news she read online Aiden is a well-known person in their country and dating him officially must really be a big deal she didn't thought about this before falling for him and accepting to date him suddenly the fear of her not matching up to his social status was on her mind and her mind became unease at the thoughts.

"Do you really have to point that out, you spoilt the excitement"

"Am just saying the truth she's really not up to his standard"

"Well thanks for stating the truth" she retorted

Lucy scoff and face the TV not minding the look the two were giving her Emily sat there for a while she stood up minutes later and went into the direction of her room "but then, you are not going to ever date Steve right?" Emily look back at her confused and surprised she has never cared about Steve or their relationship together she shudder and went inside not giving her an answer, Lucy smiled to herself and Louis caught her smiling he turn to her blocking her view from the screen she raised her brows upset at him for obstructing her view "I just want to be sure to avoid confusing myself any longer do you like Steve or something?"

"What!" she shouted like she was being caught "I mean what rubbish are you talking about?" she said her voice lower

"You really like him don't you? I had my suspicion when you always come to the restaurants to help Steve when Emily is away, but whenever you he's with Emily you became hostile to him and pretend not to like him, right?"

Lucy stood up from the cushion and grab her phone on the table she ignore him and went inside her room

"You can't tell me about it who knows I might be of help" he yelled after her.

Alyssa sat at the table and eat her food quickly, her father look up at her and shake his head disappointedly, she stop eating when she saw the look he was giving her she drank the water in her glass and stood up to leave "sit back now" her father commanded and she immediately sat down back.

"you lost a big chance of getting Aiden back at the party, make sure you do something fast before another girl snatch him from you" he said referring to the girl that came to the party with Aiden, she simply nodded her head

"It's really useless raising a child, of what benefit are you to the family you and your mother just spend money anyhow you wish and don't seems to care about doing something for the family" Mrs. Saunders chipped in "it would have been easy if I trained her myself but you insisted on her mother doing the job"

"It would have been great if you decide to have your own child" he said taking a bite of his food

"Giving birth is something I hate, I don't want my body damaged just because I want to birth a child, and that was the reason why I allowed you have an affair with the low life woman"

Alyssa listened to them argue, she really wish she could leave the table and go back to her room she hate listen to them insult her, talk about her like she's a property they own she placed her two hands on the table and rest her cheeks on them as she listen on.

Mr. Griffin sat down face to face with Aiden in his study room they were having a discussion about what happened today he was really angry at him for not taking care of the issues earlier and letting such news spread.

"Are you really dating that girl or you are just passing out time with her?"

"Well Dad, I really like Emily" he answered

"What does her family do?"

He chuckle at his dad's question, his dad gave him a confused look he didn't get what part of his question was funny "you sounded like an old man, what has that got to do with me liking her or our relationship?"

"It has a lot to do with it, you can't just date anyone you are a Griffin and anyone you date should be up to your standard"

"But you didn't say anything when I dated Alyssa" he paused and did a quick thinking "so you accepted Alyssa then, because she's up to my standard?"

"Of course a Griffin can't stoop too low to dating just a commoner with a social status it's like downgrading the dignity we've built so far"

"Okay, I don't care about something like that, I like Emily and don't care what her status is" he stood up and excuse himself

"Aiden, don't provoke me I don't want what happened to your brother happen repeating itself" he warned

"What happened to my brother wouldn't have happened if you didn't pressure him so hard just like you are doing with me"

"Your brother made a wrong decision and he paid a costly price for it you wouldn't want the same thing to happen to you too"

"Richard didn't make a mistake with the woman he married, the only mistake was not being wary of the people he work with, so leave my woman alone and don't ever try to treat her like you did to Erica, I will not let it off like I did with Erica and her son" he warned and left the study upset the incident of his brother came back to him he entered his car and took out the pack of cigarette he took up one of it and light it up he hasn't smoke in a while, not since he met Emily remembering his brother incident brings back sad memories, he took another puff and finish it before driving back to his house.

The next day he was coming into his office as the staff greeted him on his way he got to the entrance of the elevator, his attention caught something and he halt in his steps and turn around to have a look, She was standing at a little distance from him with a smile on her face, he stare at her mode of dressing it was off, it doesn't look like the Emily he knew she was putting on a red dress instead of the normal top and trouser she usually put on, it was like she dressed to impress him or others although with the heels she was putting on it looks great on her but Aiden knew something was not right with her dressing.
