Chapter 8 Falling in Love Again

The next morning, Emily noticed my fresh mood. She was curious, so I told her.

"No way. How did he get in???"

"I didn't think much about that. He might have entered from the window."

"No, but I locked your windows myself. "

"He might have used the kitchen window."

"You know I check everything before going to sleep. Your boyfriend is getting too close now. Ask him to be within his limits."

"Oh, so you are angry now??? Weren't you the one telling me to let him into my life? Give him a chance. Why are you complaining now???"

"Your boyfriend is entering our apartment at night and we don't know how he got in??? Did he have some extra keys???"

"How could he have that???"

We argued about that and I told her that I would ask Eden not to come home like that.

I went to the office and was happy. I was about to start my work when I got a text.

"I want to see you, babe. I miss you so much."

"Oh really??? You have to wait. I am in my office."

"Should I go there???"

"Well, that's gonna be difficult for you because no one's allowed on my floor. Especially outsiders."

"Oh really??? Why is that???"

"My boss's office is next to mine too. So, for security reasons, only a few people are allowed."

"This boss of yours seems to be a jerk. I want to teach him a lesson someday to drain you out like that. "

"I know. I wish the same, but I don't have any choice now."

I was texting and smiling.

"You do have a choice. Come with me. You don't have to do any of this. I will take care of you. And all those kids too."

"Well, that's very sweet of you, but I can't do that. If you are willing to do something, then help other children in the orphanage and there are many more too. Do something for them. I am habitual to this now."

"That's a great idea. We will talk about that in the evening."

I was smiling at his texts and that's when someone cleared his throat. I was shocked by that but before I reacted, Jamie was pushing me back in my seat to stay calm.

"Oh come on. I know I have an average face, but come on. You can't just get scared like that."

"When did you enter my cabin???"

"Just when you were blushing seeing something fishy on your phone."

He used to tease me like that.

"Shut up. I wasn't watching anything like that. "

"Oh really??? Then what was that??? Do you have a boyfriend now???"

He was guessing it right and I cleared my throat to hold my breath and nervousness. I wanted to tell him but I was thinking of keeping it a secret for a while. Until Eden finally reveals his face, I didn't want to tell anybody about him.

"No, what boyfriend??? I don't have any. You tell me. Where were you yesterday???"

"Oh, I had something important so I was busy. That's why I was here actually. You called me but I couldn't pick it up. I thought I should apologize for face to face and ask why did you call???"

"Nothing, the boss, was asking about some files, so I needed your help, but I sorted that out."

"Okay, that's great. Any updates on him??? How's his meeting going???"

"No, nothing yet. You know him. He would call instantly and if he cracked the deal he would order an immediate meeting and right after he gets back he would assign us new tasks and would suck the life out of us."

I was so mad at my boss, but why wouldn't I???? He had treated all of us so badly and just because we needed that job he was treating us like robots.

"Calm down. He is my friend. Don't be so mad at him. He isn't that bad."

"Oh really??? Tell me, have you ever seen him concerned about anybody else??? Forget about that. Did he ever ask anyone how they were doing???"

"Come on. Don't start again. I get it. You hate him. The whole office hated him and I hated him too. Now drink this water and let's go out for a coffee."

"I just wanted to finish this work. After an hour."

"Then let's have lunch together???"

"Cool. I will see you after some time."

He said bye and left the office and while I was busy on my laptop, he knocked again and, while tucking his head inside the door, he said.

"By the way, you are looking very nice today. This colour suits you."

He went away without even letting me react to that. I looked at my dress. Eden bought that for me and he left it in my room last night.

How did he get that perfect size??? It was an aqua blue coloured dress with a little bit of embroidery on the neck. It was no doubt a designer dress and, by the measurements and perfect design, I had a feeling that he customized it, especially for me.

Well, I was thinking of talking about that too. I liked him but the way he was treating me and spending his money like that was. I didn't like that.

I did my work and then Jamie called.

"I am waiting."

I immediately left the office and we went to a nearby restaurant. We had dinner and he was telling me about his family.

"My mom was forcing me to get married now. "

"Oh really??? What's wrong with that then???"

"I am not sure the girl I like would love me back too."

"Why wouldn't she??? You are smart, have a good job, financially stable. Why would she reject you???"

"Oh really??? What about you??? What if I ask you to marry me???"

He said that and I froze. He started laughing at seeing my reaction.

"See, that's how girls react when I propose to them. Now tell me who would marry me???"

Meanwhile, my phone started ringing and it was none other than my boss, of course. The nice day was going to become hell again. I picked up.

"Hi, boss. How are you??? How did the meeting go???"

I was trying to talk normally but how come he behaves so gentlemanly???

"I am going back to the hotel room. I want everyone in the meeting. I will be joining you guys virtually."

He didn't even say hello. Nothing else. I took a deep breath and cursed him and then ran back to the office.
