Chapter 10 Unexpected Wedding

Eden left after a few days and made a promise that he would be back. He advised me to start preparing for our wedding. Although I had my savings and everything, he still deposited a huge amount in my bank account. He wanted me to buy whatever I wanted for both of us.

So, as soon as he left, Emily and I started planning everything. We were thinking of designer dresses. We also started shopping. He strictly advised me not to worry about the venue or anything. He promised me that it would be grand and so many guests would be there, so I was nervous about selecting my dresses. I clicked some pictures and sent them to him.

"Babe, you will look beautiful in each one of those. Why don't you buy all of them???"

"Silly we are gonna get married once, not every day in the week."

He laughed at that.

"Well, I can arrange that too, if you want."

He helped me finally and I selected a dress. The weekend passed like that, but again the stressful Monday was there.

My boss was back to making my office hell again. Everyone was working like a maniac again. I was waiting for him to get back to his office after attending the meeting. He asked me to prepare them for him.

He came out and, as usual, he just asked about his work.

"Bring me the files now."

He never asks for anything else except for work. I gave him the files and he looked at them and again started scolding me.

"Didn't you check them before bringing them here??? I hate such irresponsible behaviour. Go back and amend this now."

He threw the files on the table and I picked them up and went out, almost running away from his rage. I cursed myself for not looking carefully. I was amending the work when he came out and looked at me.

"Cancel my meetings for today. "

"But sir, this file."

"I think you are gonna take a whole day to rectify the error. Bring them tomorrow."

Just like that, he entered his private elevator and left the office. I have been working with him for 3 years and there wasn't a single day when he cancelled his meetings like that. There must be some emergency.

I went back home in the evening. The next few days, the boss didn't come to the office. All I got from him was that he is the boss and I didn't get the right to know the reason. I cancelled all his meetings for the week.

Eden was finishing his work and was coming back sooner. But suddenly he stopped replying to me. He just texted me in the morning or evening and that's all. I felt he might be busy with his work.

Finally, the boss got back to the office after many days and looking at his condition, I knew something had happened to him. His face was pale and the dark circles around his eyes were so big now. He might haven't slept well in the past few nights.

Although I wanted to, I didn't dare to. He called me in and I was taking the file along with my IPad to adjust the schedule for his meetings.

He was smoking as I entered. I have never seen him doing that. Although I hated him, I have never seen him drinking or smoking in the office. He wasn't that much of a good person, but he was an ethical man. He never misused his position.

"Is there anything bothering you??? " I finally said that while he was signing the files without even reading them.

"What would you do about that???"

"I might help."

"No, I don't need anybody's help."

That wasn't an unexpected answer. I was about to leave the office when he asked me.

"What do you girls think of yourself??? We spend our time and money, everything on you and, in return, complain about what you do all the time is complain."

He got up and was looking outside the window.

"Tell me, is there a way I could make peace with a girl without saying sorry or saying I love you???"

"Depends why she is angry with you???"

"She is mad because I argued about his stupid demand."

I wondered what she asked for. He was the richest and the most influential person in the country.

"Stupid demand???" I asked. He gave me a death stare, but he finally said.

"Marriage. She wants to marry me."

Well, I didn't think that was a stupid demand, but why was he getting so anxious about that???

"What's wrong with that??? Don't you love him???"

"I am not seeking your counselling about my relationship. Tell me, is there a way???"

"Yeah, I mean it would be expensive. "

"I don't care."

I told him the details of my first date with Eden. I knew she would forget her anger.

"That sounds good. Arrange it by tonight."

"What me???"

"Who is the assistant??"

I came back to my office and was looking for a way to do that. It was weird as he was asking me to arrange a date for him. But it wasn't the weirdest order. He once asked me to bring him condoms into his office while his girlfriend was in there with him. I even heard his girlfriend screaming in a hotel room when we went on a business trip together. He was a monster and I was just praying for this girl to stay in his life for longer because he was changing for the first time.

I arranged everything and he was happy the next day. The next week passed just like that and I finally met his girlfriend.

It's been two weeks and I was wondering about Eden. He texted me that he would be back in two weeks.

But two months passed and suddenly I lost contact with him. It was a normal day at the office when our boss announced his wedding. He asked me to invite all the staff members. He was happy now.

I had no idea this wedding was going to be a disaster in my life. He was going to marry me in quite an unfortunate way and our life trajectory would change. The man who I was barely handling in the office was going to be in my life 24/7.

I was unaware of my brutal fate at that time.
