Chapter 6 Surprise at Midnight

The next day, in the morning, I got a message from my boss. He called for a meeting immediately and I had to get ready.

While I was making a mess in my room, Emily entered all dressed up.

"Well, well, well, you are already getting ready. I was about to call you. I thought you forgot."

"Forgot what???"

She looked at me, then at my room and the stuff around me.

"Don't tell me on Sunday morning you are getting ready for your office???"

"Actually."

"Tell me it's a joke. "

"Boss just called. I am sorry I have to go."

"Aahhhh. I wish I could kill your boss. I hate this man. He doesn't have a life and he is not letting anybody else live a life either. We had a plan."

At the Remember we made a plan to visit the orphanage. We hadn't been there for a while and, finally, we were free, but unfortunately, my boss was messing with my love life and my happiness again.

Emily was so mad at me but she was keeping herself calm.

I looked at the time and then I checked the schedule. I took a deep breath.

"Okay, listen. It's just 10 in the morning. The boss had to leave for his business trip by 2 pm. He must be calling everyone to assign responsibility and giving us a brief about his upcoming targets. "

"Please, Serena, I am not interested in your work."

"Listen. What I was trying to say is that the boss has to leave after 2 hours. So it won't take much time. Just do me a favour. Buy gifts from my side for the kids too and I will meet you in the orphanage. I promise I will be there by lunch."

"Promise???"

After convincing her, I left immediately for my office. I reached the office where many other employees were already there. Looking at their faces, I realized how miserable they were.

As usual, Jamie, Bos's best friend and our senior manager arrived and asked us to get into the conference room.

He is a nice guy. Whenever the boss scolds me, he usually makes me feel better and we are good friends.

"What's with this new meeting now???"

"You know him. By the way, looks like you were up late last night."

"What??? No. "

"Oh come on. Don't hide now. I am seeing you smiling after a long time. "

Before he said anything else and I started blushing, the Boss entered and the fish market in the conference room was quiet now.

With that pin-drop silence, the Boss started telling everyone about his new project. After giving everyone jobs, he called me.

"Ms Serena."

"Yes, Boss."

"Did you fix my meetings???"

"Yes, Boss."

"Okay then book a flight ticket for Alice too. She would be accompanying me and giving her the details of my trip also."

Alice was my assistant, actually, but since last week she has been getting close to him. I knew my boss was a playboy. Girls just go insane in front of him and he takes full advantage of that.

I had forgotten the account of the assistants he fired after using them. That's why I hated him even more. I never gave him any signal. My behaviour was always professional, so he never treated me like that. I wanted to maintain that boundary between us.

I didn't want to be another victim of his brutal torture. As expected, after 2 hours, he left for the airport and I left for the orphanage too. While I was coming out of my office, Jamie asked me out for lunch but I apologized.

"Oh, that's great. Would you mind if I came with you too??? "

"Yeah, sure no problem."

On the way, he bought some gifts for the children too and we went to see the kids. Emily was already waiting and she was finally happy now. We spent the day with the kids and it was, as usual, a beautiful day.

While saying bye to Jamie, instead of shaking hands he hugged me and I couldn't understand what happened.

"Thanks for letting me come with you. I am happy after a very long time. You are a good person."

We had been friends since my job started, but for the first time, I felt like he wasn't treating me like a friend. He was looking at me differently.

He asked me for dinner but I was tired. I wanted to go back and take a rest. I apologized and while we were getting back I got a call from Eden.

"Who is it???"

I asked Emily who was using my phone and was changing the song.

"Wooh. It's Mr X."

"Stop Calling him that. He is not Mr X. He is Eden."

"Well, I like Mr X."

I stopped the car and snatched the phone from her.

"Hey, sweetheart. What are you doing???"

I was talking and Emily started driving then. By the time I reached home, I had just finished telling him my daily routine.

But what was even more shocking, a BMW was outside my house. The chauffeur was the same. I called him again.

"Eden I am too tired today. Can we meet tomorrow???"

"Trust me, you won't regret this. Just get in."

I had to get in. I reached the same resort and he was in the dark as usual, but he took me to a room.

"There are clothes for you to change into. I have called someone special for you.

"Special??? Who??? The person you need so badly right now???"

I wondered who it was when he called someone into the room.

I was going to get a massage. They took me in. They were two girls and it was a message for almost 2 hours and I was so relaxed. I didn't know when I would sleep there. I woke up when Eden was taking me somewhere and he was lifting me in his arms.

"What are you doing???"

I asked while getting up all of a sudden.

"You need to sleep, babe."

"But I have to go back."

"Don't worry. My bodyguard is outside your apartment. Emily is safe. You can stay here without any worries. Do you want to eat anything???"

"I just wanna sleep."

While tucking me into bed, he left. I called him but got no answer. After a minute, I felt like someone was getting in bed from the other side. My heart was beating so fast. What if???

I was thinking so much but wasn't able to move. He kissed my forehead and pulled me into his arms.

"Good night sweetheart."

He kissed my cheeks and I closed my eyes again. He wouldn't do anything. My heart was at peace and I slept with him like there was no tomorrow.
