Chapter 4 Kneel In Front Of Her

Wanting to defend herself, Meagan said in a hurry, "But I already washed it. I promise. I cleaned it properly!"

The shop assistant raised an eyebrow and scoffed coldly. "Oh, you washed it? But you only used it for a day, right? Why did you have to wash it? Did you really use it for a wedding? It's so dirty, I think you held your wedding at a farm!"

Hearing the woman insult her, Meagan blushed hard.

In fact, what she experienced during her wedding day was not much better than farming in a muddy field. It had been raining heavily all day, and she even had to walk such a long distance along the mountain road. Hence, her initially white wedding dress and shoes had gotten all dirty and muddy, and her feet almost gave out.

Checking the whole dress, the shop assistant looked at Meagan with contempt from time to time.

"Ma'am, even if you soiled the dress and had to wash it, you had to dry-clean it instead of using water! Do you even know what dry-cleaning means?"

Seeing that Meagan seemed like a pushover, the shop assistant laughed at her and humiliated her all the more. "Did you know that ever since this shop started its business, all of our wedding dresses were bought? It's the first time we rented one out. Humph! If you can't even afford a wedding dress, why did you even get married?"

"Who says that someone needs to buy a wedding dress if she wants to get married? Is there a law stating that it is the rule? Or perhaps, you're just shallow-minded?" All of a sudden, a deep and cold voice was heard from the door of the shop. Meagan was dumbfounded, thinking that this voice was too familiar. Then, as she quickly turned around, there she saw Zayden, who had just walked in. His stare could easily send a chill down someone's spine. Obviously, he was infuriated, and his aura alone could make one tremble in fear.

With a frown on his face, Zayden walked towards Meagan and held her in his arms. Then, He looked at the shop assistant and got back at her for embarrassing his wife in public. "Besides, doesn't your billboard ad say that you are renting your dresses? The words 'Wedding Dresses for Lease' are even printed in huge fonts. Are you blind?"

"You..." The shop assistant was so struck-dumb that she was rendered speechless.

On the other hand, Zayden wasn't finished yet. "You talked so big as if the wedding dresses in your shop are so stylish and of the highest quality. Ha! I think they're just so-so. There is no need to buy them!"

The shop assistant finally had enough, so she finally snapped. Rolling her eyes hard at Zayden and Meagan, she retorted, "If you can't afford it, don't come up with such pathetic excuses! How dare you say that our products are just so-so? Our shop only sells high-end customized dresses!"

Hearing this, Zayden smirked, and his gaze fell on the wedding dress being worn by a mannequin at the center of the hall. It was a fishtail style dress, which emphasized the figure of the one who wore it. It was decorated with gold threads, and there was also a series of small diamonds on the chest.

Among all the dresses displayed inside the shop, this one was indeed outstanding. But still, it wasn't enough to be compared to the dresses that Zayden had seen before.

Noticing that this particular wedding dress had captured Zayden's attention, the shop assistant sneered. "You can keep looking at it all you want. But I'm sure you will never be able to afford it!" Then, she turned towards Meagan, wearing a sarcastic expression on her face. "Ma'am, I really feel sorry for you. You are actually so beautiful. The only mistake you did was that you didn't pick a good man. Oh, what a waste!"

But after hearing this, something seemed to have erupted from within Meagan's heart. "Who are you to question the relationship between me and my husband? It's none of your business!"

Zayden turned his head towards Meagan, completely stunned. This woman had been obedient, timid, and tolerant since they met yesterday. But now, it was as if she was a different person. She was aggressively arguing with someone.

Meagan then stepped forward and glared at the shop assistant. "You know what? Give me back the wedding dress that I rented and I will have it dry-cleaned. I'll send it back later. But you have to apologize to my husband first for bad-mouthing him!"

"What?" The look in the eyes of the shop assistant seemed to say, "Why would I do that? Are you kidding me?"

Generally, Meagan was indeed timid and a soft-spoken person. But depending on the situation and who she was talking to, she could be very indignant. She could tolerate others bullying her, but if someone dared harass those close to her, it was a different story. Even for this man, whom she had only met yesterday, she would do everything in her power to defend him.

Especially now that Zayden was her husband, Meagan wouldn't pull her punches. Blushing hard, she repeated, "Didn't you hear me? I said apologize to my husband!"

But the shop assistant just rolled her eyes and deliberately ignored Meagan.

At this moment, Zayden patted Meagan's shoulder and said, "It's alright. I don't need her apology. Anyway, do you like that wedding dress?"

"What? That?"

Meagan saw that Zayden was pointing at the shining wedding dress at the center of the hall. It was indeed so beautiful that she was attracted by it.

Furthermore, she was confused as to why Zayden would ask something like this. What was he even planning?

With a faint smile, Zayden slowly took out a card from his wallet and put it on the counter. "My wife seems to have taken a liking to that wedding dress. We'll take it."

After he said this, the atmosphere inside the shop seemed to have changed drastically. The shop assistant looked at Zayden with her eyes wide open, and even Meagan was at a loss.

She gently tugged her husband's sleeve and spoke in a low voice. "Zayden, what are you doing? We already had our wedding! Why do you need to buy me a wedding dress?"

But Zayden just answered nonchalantly, "Well, just think of it as a keepsake, a remembrance from our wedding day. Besides, this one's a haute couture dress. You ought to have one." Then, Zayden looked around and said, "Can I have someone from the shop who's capable of accurate measurement?"

The shop assistant, who had been aggressive from the start, finally came to her senses and immediately put on a flattering smile. She now bowed and spoke respectfully. "Sir, are you really buying the dress?"

"Well, do I need to repeat myself? Do the measurement for my wife now," Zayden said coldly.

"Alright. I'll call someone now..."

Hearing the shop assistant panicking, Zayden raised his dashing eyebrows and asked, "Why are you going to call someone else? Can't you do the measurement yourself? Isn't that a part of your job?"

The shop assistant's face instantly froze.

"Well, if you're not doing it, then I might change my mind."

In front of this man with a domineering aura, the shop assistant felt flustered. Recently, there hadn't been many high-profit purchases in their shop, so this was actually a huge opportunity. So, without further ado, she took out the measuring tape and walked towards Meagan.

"Ma'am, let me help you with the measurements..."

Watching how the shop assistant had turned from a wild tiger to a purring cat, Zayden sneered and stared at her coldly with his deep, dark eyes. "What are you doing? How can you get the right size for the hemline if you just measure like that? Kneel in front of her and do it properly!"
