Chapter 3 Putting The Past Behind

Himawari Nursing Home.

Hiro stopped the car at the parking lot of the Himawari Nursing Home. He excitedly walks inside the hall while holding a bunch of sunflowers which is his grandmother's favorite flowers.

"Hello there, Hiro!"

He was greeted by the Chief Nurse of the facility. They have been good friends, and he is really thankful because of the love and care that she gives to all of the residents at the Nursing Home.

"Hello, Aunt Felice. How have you been?" Hiro smilingly greeted her.

"I'm doing good... How about you? Aren't you going to be busy with your upcoming concert tour?"

"Well, before I get busy, I decided to visit my special someone... Where's my grandma?" Hiro smilingly asks for his grandmother.

"She's taking her nap, son." Nurse Feliza responded.

"Oh, she's in her room, reading her favorite book as always." the Chief Nurse answered.

After having a quick conversation with the Head Nurse, Hiro quickly walked straight towards his grandmother's private room.

As soon as he enters the room, he saw his beloved Grandma sleeping, and her favorite book is on her lap...

He smiled when he saw her. He took a vase and filled it with water from the room's own bathroom. He arranged the sunflowers in the vase.

"Grandma, I brought your favorite flower." Hiro whispered, while watching over his beloved Grandmother...

Cherish decided to visit Alex again. She feels like she needs to say her final goodbye to him, before she makes her final decision that will change her entire life.

She took a deep, calming breath, then afterwards, she started dialling Aunt Felice's number.

"Cherish! I'm so happy that you called me today. How's your day?" her Aunt happily greeted her.

"Hi, Auntie. I just called you today to let you know that I would like to work with you there." Cherish finally relayed her decision.

"Really? That's great! I actually thought that it will take you awhile before you can make a decision. But I'm really happy, Cherish. We want you to fly here as soon as possible, dear."

Cherish and her Aunt Felice are already making plans about her upcoming migration to Tokyo, Japan.

Cherish secretly wishes that Alex is already happy in heaven because she followed his advice to her...

Weeks quickly passed by.

It's going to be her flight tomorrow, and now she is looking at her suitcases.

"Please give me a sign that I'm doing the right thing, Alex..." he whispered to herself.

Her train of thoughts stopped in a halt when she heard someone knocking at the door.

"Come in!" she said.

Her mother enters the room, and she sat beside her on bed.

"Are you sure you have everything ready?" her mother asked her.

"Yes, Mom. I've got all the things that I need."

"I'm so excited and happy for you. This is a new chapter in your life!" her mother stated. having a new chapter in your life!"

"Do you think I'll be able to start a new life there, Mom?" Cherish asks her mother.

"Of course you will, my dear. You're still young. There are lots of exciting things that will happen to you in the future." the old woman said, while clasping her daughter's hand.

Cherish and her mother spent an hour just talking to each other. Her mother decides to leave the room to let her sleep, because they need to be at the airport early in the morning for her flight.

After talking to her mother, Cherish feels so much better now. She went to sleep with a smile on her face, hoping for a great weather tomorrow.

The next day.

Cherish is already inside the plane, which is now flying to Tokyo, Japan.

She is having mixed feelings right now. She feels nervous, scared and excited.

She feels like a bird who is now free after being in a cage for too long. She can't wait to start a new life in Japan, and she wants to be a better person. He wants her family and Alex to be proud of her.

She snaps out from her reverie when she heard a voice over announcement...

"Good day to all of the passengers. This is your Captain speaking. Please fasten your seatbelts. We will land in Narita Airport in 10 minutes.We hope you had a great flight and hope to see you again soon. Thank you for flying with us." she heard the Captain's smooth voice from the airplane's speakers.

After a few moments, the plane finally landed at Narita International Airport. Cherish quickly walk towards the Immigration Booth. She is grateful because she didn't encounter any problems with the Immigration process.

She is now pushing her baggage cart, as she is walking at the Arrival Area.

"Cherish!"

Cherish's smiled widened when she saw her Aunt Felice, along with her husband and her twin cousins!

She excitedly walks towards them, and her Aunt gave her a big bear hug.

"Oh my, Cherish! Is that you? You're getting more and more beautiful!" her Aunt gushes at her.

"It's so nice to see you all, Uncle and Aunt! My my cousins!" she smilingly greeted.

Her cousins gave her a tight hugs as well...

After talking for a little bit, her Aunt Felice encourages everyone to leave the airport, as she reserved a table at a certain restaurant where they will have a family dinner.

Cherish feels at home already. Her Aunt, Uncle and her cousins welcomed her with open arms.

Eventhough she already miss her Daddy and Mommy, she is sure that she will not feel homesick because she has a family here in Japan. This is the change that she needs in her life right now, and she's grateful to her Aunt for giving her this great opportunity or chance to work in a totally different country and environment.

She can't wait to start her new adventure in Japan.

Maybe she made a right decision of following Alex's advice.

"This is it, Alex." she whispered to herself.
