Chapter 8 8

Derek introducing himself to the family seems to go off on a good start. Mrs. Sara and her husband were both happy to have him. They pushed him into one of the chairs at the table and Mrs. Sara packed his plate with so much food that I think, Muna's boyfriend will most definitely have a tummy ache after eating it.

"So tell me, how did you both meet?".

Hansel chose to create an atmosphere for conversation.

His sister was however happy to respond to him. She tells, they both met at their IT Programs in school... College to be precise.

Hansel shook his head in approval.

I sensed that everyone was a lot happier about that. Mrs. Sara asked me to join her inside the kitchen, I got up from the chair and accompanied her as soon as she left.

"Dear, please take out those glasses on the table and bring it out with you, okay?".

She gave me instructions and left immediately.

She forgot that I had only just come into the mansion, I have no clue where things were being kept, where on earth can I find the glasses, she asked me to bring.

I wasted five minutes searching for them.

The kitchen was so huge that I almost fell mindless in the rotation...

Mrs. Sara should at least, point to where the glasses were.

While searching, Hansel walks into the kitchen. "What's taking you so long?". He says, making me turn around to look at him.

"Excuse me! How do you expect me to find anything in this kitchen when your mom has asked me to bring out some glasses,". I said, rolling my eyes around.

Hansel sees that yet chose not to say anything. He just rode past me and when I turn around to see where he was heading too. I met him taking out some champagne glasses, in between the breakable plates inside the kitchen cabinets.

So! That's where they keep those?..

Hansel cleaned the glasses and left me alone in the kitchen.

Immediately I picked up my foot and went right after him.

At the table, Mrs. Sara asked if I had trouble searching for the glasses, seeing I wasted so much time. I smiled and reacted to the fact that I had only just come to the mansion, I promised to make sure to know where things were kept.

I saw Hansel smile, he placed the glass on the table and went further to seat down on his chair.

I kept on standing.

Mrs. Sara looked back at me, she says, "dear, don't you want to come to sit down, come on, and let's celebrate my child's return and her wonderful relationship with her boyfriend, Derek,"...

I squished both my hands a little before walking to my chair, right next to Hansel.

We met each other gaze but he immediately looks away.

Mr. Fredrick, Hansel's dad poured the champagne into each of the glasses and asked us all to stand up for a toast.

We all did and afterward, clicked our glasses together.

Hansel and I touched hands in the process.

Later that same day, I went into the room to rest. After Muna's arrival, we all gathered in the garden to talk.

I didn't say anything, I only just looked...

"Sister-in-law, may I come in?". Muna said while knocking on the door of my room. I turned around and opened it for her. She smiles as soon as we met each other's gaze.

"Hi! I want to apologize for not being able to welcome you to the family, and also say sorry for what my elder brother did, ". She said, I welcomed her inside.

I pulled out a chair at the side and asked her to the seat.

Whatever Hansel's brother did. I don't know if ever I would forgive him. He did not choose to humiliate his family and mine, but he also destroyed his brother's life by having him compelled into getting married to me.

Hansel can be overbearing, but he at least thought about the self-respect of his family and mine and accepted to get married to him.

I should be thanking him and not cursing him...
