Chapter 10 10

Mrs. Sara crouched me down on the chair close to her. She kept a bowl on the table before picking up another chair, close to mine. She faces me.

"Edna, I am sure you're aware of what happened at the wedding, the groom being swapped?". She says.

I glanced at everyone at the table before responding to her.

"Yes ma'am, I know about that,".

I said.

She nods and replied.. "thank you for that dear and as a mother, I am very much ashamed of what my son did, because of him, my other son had to step in,". She folds her hands before me and In front of everyone there, she apologized for what her son did.

I don't know. Hansel's brother might have chosen to leave me on the day of our wedding, there's no need to dwell on the same issue.

He left and now I am married to someone else.

Although I do acknowledge the fact that it hurts, like my dad always says, it's best to forgive and move on than to dwell on the same issue.

"It's okay ma'am, I have nothing against any of you here, I should be the one saying, thank you for accepting me, after what happened,"

I held Mrs. Sara's hand, pressing it against mine.

She grinned and gently removed her hand, she rubbed both of them on my cheeks.

"You're indeed a germ of a person dear, and I hope you find happiness with my son,"... She says.

"Yes dear, I am glad you're part of our family,". Hansel's dad said, Mr. Fredrick.

I turned at my own back and he grinned at me.

I grinned right back.

Mrs. Sara gets up.

She sends a maid to go get a bottle of champagne and while we were all busy waiting, Hansel walks inside.

He saw us in a celebratory mood.

"Is everything okay, what's happening?". He asked.

"Brother,". Muna ran off and hugged him.

She later pulls away and informed him of what happened.

Hansel looks at me as he walks to the table with us all seated.

The maid returned with the champagne. She kept it on the table and Mr. Fredrick gets up to open it up.

I stared around in the process. Everyone was all looking happy.

Surprisingly Hansel too.

After all that. I walked my parents to their car parked outside. Before leaving mom begged me not to try and have any fights with my husband.

I don't know?, can that be inevitable?..

" I promised mom,". I said.

She nods a little before getting into the car with dad. Dad starts at the car and until the car leaves, I refused to enter back into the mansion...

In the room. I barely took a step in. When Hansel and I bumped into each other at the door.

He says in a disgruntled manner.

"What the hell is wrong with you?". He said.

I rolled my eyes. I looked away hoping he too would give way to let me walk in.

Rather, he takes out his hand and blocked me from taking another step in.
