Chapter 7 Man from the consistory

Kaius had bigger problems to deal with like the consistory. For some reasons Ann seems to still be in shock and compulsion is risky in such State. He wondered if his cousin is going to be fine though he was sure Jane won't let any harm come to her twin. He knew how Intense of a shock it is to know of something everyone believes is a myth or a fictional character in a book. More reasons he didn't want to reveal Aeryn to this dark side, to this life he has been living. She was too fragile and dainty to be exposed to this lifestyle.

An exasperated sigh escaped from Kaius mouth not because of the situation at hand but because his canines ached and he needed to sink his fangs deep into a human and have that feel of the sweet metallic taste something he had reduced of recent since he got married to Aeryn. He couldn't eveen wrap his head as to why he had concurred to marry her, when he could easily maneouver the situation even with the consistory's involvement in it. He didn't pay heed to them after all.

Kaius stared at the beauty with Amber doe eyes beside him who had doze off due to all the experience of the day she had met. He tucked her with the blanket to save her from the chilly cold of gravesend. This little gestures of tucking her to bed were becoming frequent after all, he thought clicking his tongues. He stepped out of the room leaving her behind on the bed.

Aeryn who was almost falling into slumber woke up after the little intrusion from the Lord who left the room. There was this ominous feeling she felt immediately she opened her eyes. The presence of something dark and dangerous lurking around. Wearing her robe to avoid the intense cold weather of gravesend she stepped out following the trail of where the lingering feeling of dark forces she felt.

In one of the corridors stood Lord Kaius talking to one of the men sent by the consistory with Duke Damon who stood with him. The man from the consistory named Elvis wore a dark cloak matching his dark eyes and hairs a compliment to his extreme aura. A glass placed on his eyes.

"The consistory has been informed on the situation of the sudden attack of rogues. For some reason we are worried about the cause of what's behind this attack" Elvis said to the Lord. "The rules are already -" Kaius interrupted the consistory man. "The report of the attack has already been filled by Duke Damon here the signed copies being served on what we found. I am certain if you took a look at it you would notice our observation and see that the attack that happened today and every other attack that happened by the rogues were not done by their own free will but someone seems to be the one responsible for all of it. Elvis shook his head

"The consistory deal with facts my Lord and everything compiled and your observations doesn't seem clear, the rogues may have evolved in their capabilities and reasoning and are planning something big to cause disruption between us and the human for their own selfish reasoning.

"Rogues do not have such high reasoning. We all have been educated enough to know that they don't have the brains to go that far. Kaius said his voice conveying the information which everyone of their kind was aware of.

The count of death has increased with dead bodies of humans being found mostly in the forest. The death in the palace was one of the first bold attack by the rogues. The consistory had been sent to investigate the numerous death which all came to a mutual conclusion of the rogues been the cause. It was surprising that even under the watchful eyes of highly equipped guards who were appointed by the consistory the death toll of the humans still increased.

"So we have been informed,

"Mr Elvis," Duke Damon interjected after hearing both the Lord and the consistory man speak. " If you were going to conclude the investigations by concluding it was all an act done by the rogues to cause disruption. Then they was no need for the consistory to send you here. After all, it was something Lord Kaius had figured out himself and the filing of report to ascertain the situation was of no use. We might not have an inkling behind everything but everything takes time to figure out, Mr Elvis."

"I do agree to that, Duke Damon." Before Elvis could continue to speak. Damon spoke

"I think time should solve the problem at hand. And the rogues or anyone behind it should be brought and prosecuted for committing such chaos.

Elvis stared at the floor, he sighed pushing his glasses up that rested on his nose. "I will convey all what you both have said to Head Louis and we would resolve on what to do next."

"That would be appreciated," Damon bowed a little.

"I will take my leave now gentle men. Have a wonderful night rest.," Elvis walked past them heading to his carriage standing outside.

"Same to you," Lord Kaius murmured staring at the exiting figure of the man who disappeared. Damon then spoked to Kaius

"He wasn't informed about Ann witnessing the incident right?"

"Definitely not, you think the consistory are going to let her of the hook if they figured out. Kaius answered clicking his tongue. "Elvis for some reason seems to be acting sketchy and I heard from John that he seems to be pushing for the closure of the case." Damon commented

"Funny how he want to put all the blames on the rogues even though it's glaring that there is an higher ups involved in this chaos. Search for anything fishy in his home" Kaius said to Damon his doubt about Elvis increasing.

"You do know it's a big offence to break into the house of a man in the consistory right. Finding out is close to a high punishment."

"Says someone whose biggest skill is breaking into houses".

"It's a skill I learnt from the great Kaius after all. Damon said in between a soft chuckle in which Kaius nodded his head.

Kaius and his cliques were one of the finest personality among their kind. And their abilities and wisdom was one of the perks of them being better than the rest.
