Chapter 2 The agreement

I grew up in the Dark moon pack and actually worked with him for several years and many things happened to me that even he himself witnessed. So I looked like a fool looking straight into his eyes, trying to understand his question I didn't know how to answer except to tell him my name and my background that he already knew.

If he meant who my father was, he knew that I came from an anonymous rogue, which made my name carry shame. As for my scent, it's impossible for him to smell it just now, especially since I'm always around him, and another thing, it's impossible for him to recognize it strong. I'm just a lowly omega, wolfless and definitely no more hope to have a wolf.

I found myself shaking my head saying, "M-Me?" Hugging the bundle of papers to my chest tightened, I pressed my legs together, to maintain my strength to remain standing and tried to ease the fear that now filled my whole being while my toes curl pressing inside my shoes. I tried to breathe whilst waiting for his next step.

Listening to the sound of his knuckles, as if he was ready to take out his claws to kill a little scared mouse, I tightened my grip on the papers. And his words startled me, "Tomorrow you will be 21. If you remain wolfless, I have no choice, but to return you to Alpha Luke of Litha moon pack."

As my chest pounded, a gasp escaped from my mouth. I couldn't stop myself from raising my head to look straight into his eyes. The Litha moon pack is the pack with the ruthless Alpha as its leader. The omegas there are hardly given the right to live freely. Their body is considered only for their Alpha. My aunt sold me there, luckily, my Alpha save me; he actually bought me from Alpha Luke.

But now he told me, "This is part of the agreement. This is the last chance he gave and if you don't shift on your 21st, you will come back to him and warm his bed until your last breath."

No! I can't, I don't want to, I'd rather stay here with him and serve him than go back to that hellish pack. I tried to step with my shaky feet due to fear near him. I wanted to hold his hand to beg, but it was his rule not to do that, especially here in the company, so I begged, "I'll do everything, Alpha-n-no payment, i-it's okay. I'll work for you-"

He cut me off, "Your scent is strong. There's an energy that radiates inside you, that I can't explain what." What energy? I don't know about that, I have no idea, I don't feel any strength. But he surprised me with his addition, "You'll be on shift tonight at twelve o'clock in the morning. Right under the moonlight."

My eyes widened in shock. The question echoed in my head as to how he knew that he it's my time to shift. Well, this is good news to me, but my smile retreated to the point of curving when he spoke, "You won't be returning to Litha moon, but depending on the outcome of your shift, whether I'm your enemy, or your side. Your mother may be betraying me. Your father is definitely not an ordinary rogue. Now, move your ass out!"

I felt like my face was hit by his gesture even though I was far enough away from him. I wanted to ask more, but I don't want to wake up the beast inside him. I don't wanna die.

I quickly bowed and turned my back to take my leave but he halted me by dropping something-I think it was his name plate on top of the desk as he said, "My forgiveness about you sleeping while working is still in your palm, but if you do that again, I'll throw you in the worst pack and let them kill you. Don't tarnish my company's name. Come back here, after six hours, make sure the papers are all set!"

"Y-Yes, sir!"

I mentally scolded myself for what I did wrong. I must not have slept, I was in the middle of work. I must have thought that my boss was not human. He's a strong Alpha, dangerous, no compromise.

He doesn't care if my life is important to me. That should be what I imprint on my mind. He was nice to me once as if I was important to him, but that was only once, he still thought of me as his omega.

Pushing myself out, and when the door closed, the whole area became breathable. Taking a deep breath, I rubbed my chest and wiped the sweat from my forehead. After a moment of calming myself down, I brought myself to my working place. Automatically, Bella turned to face me and grinned. "You're still alive."

"I don't want to get teased for now," I responded coldly.

"It looks like it. I'm curious how he scared you. Your body turned ghostly pale, like a monster you saw inside the office." She laughed but it was only for a moment and her eyes fell on the paper I placed on my desk. "What's the issue with those? Trash?"

I heaved a sigh and replied, "Undone."

"So you're saying goodbye tomorrow?" She peered at my face, I gave her a glare.

I told her, "I'll still be here tomorrow. I'll just come back to him later after 6 hours when everything he needs is all set."

"Congratulations then, I hope you don't fall asleep. Let me help you to pray that your damn eyes won't put you in trouble again." The tone of her voice was sarcastically joking. I knew she was just reminding me of my commitment to work and she added, "You're always looks tired, Sophia. The way your eyebags look, it's like you don't sleep at night. Are you trying to be a vampire ? If I were you, don't stay awake just to imitate them, drink blood instead."

Yeah, I hardly had enough sleep because I was piled up with house hold chores every night. I have to finish everything before I get the freedom to rest. I don't have to explain anything to this human friend of mine, I don't want to beg for mercy. Humans cannot understand to the lives of werewolves. What revolves in their world is equality but in the world of shape-shifters who are the weakest will remain at the lowest.

"Anyways." I thought, she will focus on her duties especially since she adjusted her seat and facing her computer. But it looks like she has something to tell me. I hope it's important, and related to me or to our work. "Do you remember sir Eros' last secretary? The one with the igloo-style eyebrows?"

Okay, she will share gossips, but I have to concentrate on my work especially since there is a deadline that our boss gave me. How can I reject her if she is obviously eager to tell me what she knows about the former secretary? I wanted to take my time with what needed to be taken care of but I heard myself asking, "What about her?"

Stupid...

She led forward, as if she was only trying to get closer to me because of the distance of our seats. Then she whispered, "The real reason why she left is because when sir Eros got mad, she saw the change in the color of his eyes and also heard him growl. She said that she was not actually fired from the job, she voluntarily left! She just noticed something strange about our boss. Do you think that's true?"

A hiccup flew from my throat. It's impossible for that to happen to the Alpha. That's the rule of his pack, especially with the wolves here in Hildart; not to let their wolves to peek into the present that might give a strange sign to the humans. But what Bella said clearly did happen. I'm not good at pretending but I tried to feign rolling my eyes and said, "You know our boss is grumpy." Also feigning shrugged. "Maybe, she just obsessed reading dark fantasy books, especially werewolf-vampire's, and maybe that's the reason why sir Eros' grumpy nature makes her think that he is one of the beasts."

I hope she will believe what I say. Luckily, she just shrugged and said, "Well, I just got that story from the gossips, not sure if it's true." She adjusted her sitting position and zeroed in on her work. That makes me breath a sigh of relief. Thank you, goddess!

_

Time seemed to fly by and the afternoon arrived but I could feel the tiredness. I still have some things to finish but I believe I can make it before my submission time comes. I ignored the odd feeling in my nape; it was actually numb, maybe because I was focusing too much on my task. Even my hands felt it too, eager to make a sound through clenching my knuckles but when I did, it sounds nothing and the feeling of numbness did not lessen.

I just breathed out through my lips, trying not to be bothered by my situation. I spent another hour at work until I finished printing all the papers. But just as I had segregated all that, my vision suddenly became unclear. Things I see are moving. Sometimes it becomes two, becomes one, fades, and even if I clench shut my eyes, and scratch it, still no avail.

In the middle of my struggle to make my vision clear, I felt Bella face me and asked, "What's happening?"

I needed her help so I looked at her, but I didn't expect her to yelp and maneuver to get up from her seat as if I was the scariest creature she had ever seen. I want to ask what's going on with her but I don't know how to jump right into that situation if I need help. So I chose to tell the truth, "I-I can't see well."

But her voice filled with tremor calling me, "S-Sophia..." She cursed and crouched next to my feet. Holding my hand whilst I closed my eyes, she told me, "W-Why did your eyes turn that color? W-What does that mean?"

"Color what?"
