Chapter 8 Would not be tempted by his own stepmother!

"Do you want me to tell everyone who you really are, Daphne Laurel?"

John's loud voice suddenly made Daphne stop her steps.

She was silent for a moment before she turned around and stood facing John.

"Telling to everyone who I really am? Who the hell am I, huh?" Daphne challenged without any fear.

John grinned and approached Daphne again. "Oh, you're so good at pretending! You're just a cheap woman, Daphne! Tell me you used to have a lot of customers, huh? No wonder ever since you came in as a nurse, I've felt familiar with you, I only realized recently that I've met you somewhere far away from here..."

John deliberately dangled his words and looked like he was keeping a secret.

Daphne, however, could only laugh sarcastically and respond to him by remaining calm.

"Are you drunk, John? I have no idea what you're talking about! I don't think I have any secrets either so I'm not afraid of your threats!"

"Are you really not afraid, Daphne? I really have your trump card my sleeve that can get you divorced by that old man right away!"

Daphne laughed again at that. "Divorced? Go ahead! Just tell the old man what you know about me! I'm telling you once again that I'm not afraid, John! Stay away from me and don't try to threaten me like this again!"

Daphne glared at John before she planned to leave, but again John stopped her by gripping her arm tightly.

"You really are a mysterious and brave woman, Daphne! I like you even more!" John smiled mischievously in front of Daphne's face.

"Let go of me, John!" growled Daphne as she tried to pull his arm away.

They were still staring at each other when Hector, who couldn't stand it anymore, finally appeared.

"What are you two doing?" asked Hector, who caught them.

Hector himself was just about to go to the restroom when he heard Daphne and John's conversation, which made him stop himself.

John who heard Hector's voice immediately let go of her hand and looked nervous in front of Hector.

"Uh, Hector! This woman... is trying to seduce me! I already rejected her but she keeps flirting with me!" John accused, protecting himself.

Daphne again couldn't help but laugh in annoyance as she glanced at Hector.

"You believe that, Hector? I'm flirting with him? You've been living at home for three months to know what kind of man John is and if you believe what he says then you're an idiot, Hector!" Daphne exclaimed sarcastically.

Without saying much more, Daphne immediately left Hector and John feeling upset.

Hector himself was still silent in his place when John was still trying to defend himself.

"I swear she was flirting with me, Hector! I've rejected her but she keeps flirting with me! She's a slut, Hector!"

Hector, who heard this, glanced at John. "You heard what Daphne said, right, John? If I believe you then I'm an idiot! And I need to tell you that I'm neither foolish nor blind! I can clearly see who's flirting and who's being flirted with!" Hector exclaimed before walking away from John.

John, who was left behind, cursed in annoyance. "Ah, shit! Why did Hector have to suddenly show up and ruin my fun? Tsk, there's no way Hector would report to Angelina, right? He's not that clueless! Ah, shit!" John continued to curse in annoyance.

Meanwhile, Hector had managed to catch up with Daphne at one of the drink stalls.

"So, who's really flirting with who, huh?" whispered Hector, who was suddenly standing right behind Daphne.

Hector's exhale that hit Daphne's neck made Daphne stiffen for a moment.

She immediately turned her head and saw Hector looking at her while squinting his eyes.

Hector himself seemed to casually reach for the drink glass and took a sip with a gaze that was still directed at Daphne, waiting for an answer.

"Didn't I tell you from the beginning that it's up to you what you want to think of me? So, believe what you want to believe, Hector!" said Daphne while still sipping her drink.

"Hmm, alright! So, what does it mean that he's holding your trump card? What secrets are you hiding, Daphne? Who are you really?"

Daphne immediately widened her eyes and looked at Hector in disbelief.

"You eavesdropped on our conversation? Where are your manners, Hector?"

"I wasn't eavesdropping, Daphne! Maybe you should be reminded where you were talking! You were arguing in front of a public restroom which means anyone nearby could have heard your conversation!"

She was speechless. Shit! Hector was right! Hopefully no one else heard it but Hector.

She let out a long breath and tried to remain as calm as possible.

"John is a maniac, Hector! He's a great seducer and he likes to flirt with all the girls!"

Hector nodded, but instead of responding about John, he stuck to his original question.

"So, what are you hiding, Daphne? Who are you really? A call girl? A spy, huh?"

"Tsk, Hector! Don't talk nonsense! I have nothing to hide and I'm nobody but myself! Don't listen to John! I told you he's a maniac so he'll always talk just to attract women!"

"Ah, is that so?" Hector nodded again, then put down his drink and stepped closer to Daphne.

"Then aren't you attracted to him, Daphne? Did you reject him because he's Angelina's husband? So, you're only going to flirt with men who are single or widowers, huh? Like my father who is a widower... or why don't you consider me? I'm single, Daphne!" said Hector in a tone that was both teasing and scornful. It was obvious that Hector still considered Daphne as a slut.

Daphne just rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Don't start again, Hector!"

She still opened her mouth to speak to Hector again, but a manager suddenly greeted her.

"Good evening, Ms. Daphne!"

Upon hearing this, Daphne turned her back to Hector and immediately ignored her stepson.

"Oh, hi, I didn't see you earlier, sir! Nice to meet your family!" Daphne shook the manager's hand and immediately began chatting amiably with the manager's family.

Hector, who had been ignored, stayed where he was with his gaze already focused on the sight of the open back in front of him.

Daphne's back looked so perfect, so smooth with no freckles at all and the woman had such beautiful curves.

Plus, her naturally styled and beautifully flowing bed hair covering her upper back is just calling out for anyone to touch her.

And Hector could never resist such temptation. Hector stared at that beautiful back for a long time.

Shit! Of course, it's beautiful because that woman must have taken great care of her body in order to satisfy rich men like Victor Andino! Hector cursed in his heart.

But he still could not take his eyes off Daphne's backside, which was not excessively large like Camille's, but somehow so inviting.

And Daphne stiffened at the feel of it. She immediately straightened her body until it stiffened like a statue and slowly lost her smile, in contrast to Hector, who was now starting to smile.
