Thud!

The sound of the pool water splashing as Daphne splashed into it.

"Arrgghhh!"

Daphne, who was really unprepared, did not have time to catch her breath until she moved frantically and even swallowed quite a lot of water.

Daphne herself looked at Hector with an angry glare while Angelina smiled triumphantly at her.

Confidently, Angelina approached Hector and hugged his arm. "Thank you for defending me, Hector..."

Hector, who heard this, immediately glanced at Angelina and jerked his arm out of Angelina's embrace.

"Who defended you, Angelina? I did it for myself and don't act like we're close! You're the daughter of my father's mistress, don't forget that! I hate all of you!" Hector said in a sarcastic tone before he went back inside the house.

Angelina, who heard him, just blinked her eyes and sighed in annoyance before she went inside the house, leaving Daphne, who couldn't stop swearing.

"Arrgghh, damn it, Hector!" Daphne growled in annoyance.

She continued to swear as she was forced to take another shower before leaving for the office.

Meanwhile, Hector himself was also getting ready in his room and putting on his formal suit.

After three months of living in this house and seeing what all the commotion was about, Hector couldn't stay silent anymore.

Especially hearing the conversation this morning about the directors' salaries being cut.

It was already noon when Daphne arrived at the Andino Group, a giant construction company, the company she had been "forced" to work for; for the past three months.

The few employees who saw her immediately bowed in greeting, and Daphne returned it with a friendly smile before she stepped into her own office, the managing director's room that used to be occupied by Victor.

Fortunately, Daphne was a smart woman and had some work experience before becoming a nurse, so even though it wasn't easy, she was finally able to show her skills and gain respect in the company.

Daphne started to open her laptop and was just about to get ready for work when there was a knock on her office door, and a young man walked in.

"Good afternoon, Ms. Daphne! You're late today!" the man greeted kindly.

Daphne immediately looked up and paused to stare at the handsome man who was walking toward her.

Roy Damian Walker is a very smart young lawyer and Victor Andino's right-hand man.

Victor entrusted all the company's secrets and affairs to the young man, and Damian was also the one who handled this pretend wife agreement.

Even though he said Damian himself also came from a rich family. She Doesn't know what made Damian want to devote his life to an annoying old man like Victor.

But whatever the reason, Daphne knew Damian was different from Victor.

"The old man told you? Oh, that's just making me angry! He was in his room all morning and even had breakfast there! He heard the commotion between me, Hector, and Angelina but he stayed in his room as if he was really enjoying the game he made up!"

"For a long time, I felt like I was participating in a survival game, where he as the creator of the game was just hiding behind his mask and watching me fight with his family to the death!" added Daphne still passionately.

Damian just laughed softly at that. "Patience, Daphne! Patience! We all know what Victor Andino is like, right?"

Daphne laughed in annoyance and turned her face away for a moment before looking back at Damian.

"Yes, of course we know what he's like so I'm no longer willing to bow to him! That father and son almost drove me crazy!"

Daphne could only express all of her inner turmoil to Damian because only he knew the truth. However, he himself could not help much as he also worked under Victor Andino.

Damian, who heard it, could only look at Daphne with pity and affection.

Had Damian known his feelings would grow for Daphne, he would not have agreed to all this madness and would have helped Daphne with his own abilities.

But unfortunately, he realized his feelings too late. Daphne had already signed the agreement that bound her to the Andino family.

They stared at each other for a long time until Daphne finally smiled wider and got excited again.

"Alright, forget everything and let's get to work! I've revoked Angelina and the others' authority to take the company's money, I don't want a repeat of this, Damian! At least while I'm here, I have to make sure everything is safe until Hector takes over, although I don't know when that will be!"

Damian nodded in agreement. "I agree, Daphne! You do have to take decisive action and I admire your decision this time!"
