Chapter 6 she fell into a hug that felt so warm!

Daphne continued to hold her breath while smoothing her dress as she walked into the ballroom.

The long dress was too sexy and tight for Daphne's liking, even though Victor and Damian kept complimenting her all the time.

She just hoped that no one would think she was cheap with her present appearance, especially her annoying asshole stepson.

'Ah, damn it! Why do I even have to remember that guy!' She cursed in her heart.

Keeping her hands on her thighs to keep them from being too exposed as she walked, Daphne followed Victor and immediately developed a smile on her face when everyone suddenly greeted her.

"Ah, good evening! I'm so glad everyone could make it!" Daphne greeted who had to raise her hand to shake the hands of each of her employees.

"You're so beautiful, Ms. Daphne!"

"Ah, thank you!"

She continued to smile until her jaw was tired. With a relaxed manner, she looked around the crowded ballroom until her gaze accidentally met the gaze of a man far away.

Instantly, Daphne's smile faded. Their current distance was quite far, but the man's charm was undeniable.

Wearing the formal suit, the man looked so dashing and striking among the hundreds of people in this building.

And that man was Hector, her stepson! Yes, that dashing man was her stepson! Oh, this is crazy! Just thinking about it made Daphne sigh in annoyance.

Feeling uncomfortable, she immediately broke their eye contact and turned her face away.

While in the distance, Hector did not stop staring at Daphne.

Shit! Why does that woman have to look so beautiful tonight! Without realizing it, Hector swallowed his saliva roughly with the hand that still held the drink glass in front of his lips without drinking it at all.

He was still looking at Daphne from the tip of her long beautiful hair to the hem of the dress hanging down her legs when suddenly Tony's voice made him gasp.

"Uh... ahem... ahem... Boss, didn't you say you wouldn't be tempted by her, Boss! But you keep looking at her as if you're going to eat her alive! Are you starting to be tempted by her, Boss?" Tony teased in a curious manner.

Hector, who finally came to his senses, immediately glanced at Tony with a sharp gaze.

"Don't talk nonsense, Tony! Who's tempted by her? I just think Daphne and her dress are very cheap, as if she wants to show everyone that she has a beautiful back and legs! Cheap woman!" Hector growled before he took a sip of his drink and walked away from Tony.

"Huh, but that doesn't mean you're admitting that her back and legs are beautiful, does it?" Tony muttered as he trotted after his boss.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Diana and Angelina were already chuckling at the sight of Victor and Daphne.

"Oh, there comes the King and Queen! Gosh, I'm so upset to see that slutty woman! Just because she's married to Victor and I am not, she's suddenly on a higher level than me who's been with an old man for 20 years!" Diana grumbled.

"I don't like that woman either, Mom! Ever since she became Dad's nurse, I've disliked her! She always acts so innocent but look at her, she's flirting with Dad! That's disgusting!" Angelina chimed in, equally annoyed.

"Tsk, never mind, let's go over there, she can't be more conspicuous than us!" said Diana again before she led Angelina over to Victor and Daphne.

"Good evening, everyone!" Diana greeted as she immediately inserted herself between Victor and Daphne.

Reflexively, Daphne shifted her stance and made room for Diana.

"Oh, the King is here today! Our leader, Mr. Victor Andino!" Diana hugged Victor's arm and caressed him while leaning towards him as if flirting with the old man.

Victor frowned, but his gaze immediately fell on Diana's ample cleavage.

There was no denying that Diana's assets were one of the things that attracted Victor. Victor always liked big sizes, and Diana knew it; that's why Diana always emphasized her chest whenever she was around Victor, hoping that Victor would restart their affair at their age.

But unfortunately, Diana didn't know that Victor's current illness had made him not too keen on such things anymore.

"Tsk, can't you be a little more normal, Diana? Wearing a dress with such a low cleavage in your old age is ridiculous!" Victor whispered, which immediately made Diana stiffen.

Victor grinned at Diana before he looked back at all his employees.

"Ah, hahaa, come on everyone, let's say hello to the others! Come on, Daphne!" Victor called out loudly.

Daphne seemed to glance at Diana, who was still standing still before she intended to follow Victor.

But Diana's voice made Daphne stop her steps.

"You look cheap, Daphne! You might as well not even wear clothes if your dress doesn't cover anything like that!"

"This dress is Mr. Victor's own choice!" said Daphne while forcing a smile. "What's the difference between my dress and yours anyway, Aunt Diana? I think your breasts will be spilling out of it soon!" Daphne squinted her eyes at Diana's chest, causing Diana to widen in annoyance.

"How dare you!" Diana growled.

"Ah, sorry, I don't have time to deal with you, Auntie! Excuse me!" Daphne smiled again before walking away.

"You damn woman! You'll see I won't stand for it! I need to teach that woman a lesson so she knows she doesn't belong here!"

Angelina, who heard Daphne's words, was suddenly upset. "You're right, Mom! She's insolent and disrespectful to us! You take it easy, Mom! If I get the chance, I'll definitely embarrass her! What an ignorant woman!" Angelina growled, who was already staring at Daphne's back with a plan.

Daphne, who was unaware of Angelina's plan, was still chatting so casually until she heard a heavy male voice behind her that made her body suddenly flinch.

"Showing off your body in front of everyone, Ms. Daphne? You seem to enjoy being the center of attention!"

Daphne immediately stiffened and swallowed her saliva at that. She slowly turned around, and Hector was already there, standing right beside her while looking at her with a look that was hard to interpret.

"Hector! I don't have time to argue with you!" hissed Daphne, trying to remain calm.

"Arguing? I'm not picking a argue with you, Daphne! I just wanted to make a few comments about how slutty you look tonight!"

"Unfortunately, I don't need your comments either!" Daphne retorted quickly.

Hector just laughed sarcastically at her before he saw her and immediately introduced him to some of the managers.

And although Hector hated this kind of hospitality, he had to maintain his dignity by greeting everyone.

Hector, Victor, and Daphne were still standing in line when Angelina and Diana suddenly appeared and sought attention as usual.

But this time, Angelina did it with a purpose. When Diana was already looking for a face by again barging into Victor's side, Angelina instead deliberately stood behind Daphne and stomped hard on the tail of Daphne's dress until Daphne's body jerked back.

Just as Daphne was already jerking, Angelina deliberately nudged Daphne's body until she lost her balance and staggered backwards.

"Arhhh!" squealed Daphne with her heart suddenly racing.

Daphne sensed that someone was deliberately doing this to her, but she was unable to think now that her body was half-floated.

Unfortunately, as Daphne tried to maintain her standing position, her high heels also somehow stepped on her own dress.

She was already panicking and thinking that she would definitely fall down and she would be embarrassed to death.

But luckily, she did not fall to the floor. Surprisingly, she fell into a hug that felt so warm.
