Chapter 5: The candidacy.
When Yvy opened her bag to pull out a notebook, cockroaches sprung from inside crawling around the edges. She immediately dropped away her bag, shouting. "Aaaah! Cockroaches" Her classmates rushed to see, wondering how those cockroaches had managed to get into her bag.
Yvy was baffled, "cockroaches in my bag, but how come?" She wondered while Lea was fending off or stomping on the ones that approached her.
Chloe and her two friends who had hatched this evil plan were laughing, they were over the moon, their plan had worked. Chloe stood up."Yvy the cockroach miss" she said with a mocking smile, "so now we bring cockroaches to school! okay I understand they are your pets" she finished laughing.
Yvy had her head resting on her table and was crying.
The whole class laughed except Lea. She knew this was all Chloe's plan. Then, she stood up. "Chloe, Andréa and Jessica you are real witches especially you Chloe. I know you're behind this whole thing. Apologize to Yvy right away." She shouted.
"No but girls, are you listening to this one? We're sorry, Yvy Léa's baby" said Chloe laughing out loud.
The Head master who was passing by was attracted by the bustle and entered the classroom. "What is happening here?" he asked sternly.
"Sir, Yvy came to school with cockroaches to scare us." Chloe reported, putting on a serious face. "Sir, it's wrong, she's lying." Said Lea. "She and her gang are behind all of this," she added.
"What is this weird business? Yvy, Lea, Chloe and her gang in my office right now." he said before turning to leave the classroom, followed by Yvy and the others.
Once in her office, Chloe kept the same version, The head master asked Yvy if cockroaches had really come out of her bag, she said yes. Léa tried to make him understand that Chloe was behind all this, but in vain. "Do you have proof of what you are saying?"he asked Lea. Lea replied that she had none but that Yvy had told her Andréa and Jessica had come to apologize to her and surely that was when they put the cockroaches in the bag. "Don't accuse people Without proof, you and Yvy have an hour of detention after class. Everyone get out of my office, and let this be the last time that you, Miss Yvy, bring cockroaches to class." He finished harshly
Yvy hadn't had the strength to speak or defend herself. Leaving the office, Chloe and her friends were laughing, their plan had worked perfectly. Lea meanwhile calmed Yvy who was in tears.
"Calm down sweetie, wipe those tears away. If Chloe sees you like that she will be happier," said Lea.
"thank you" Yvy said wiping away her tears. "You're so awesome, I've only known you for a short time but I already love you a lot." She continued, hugging her.
"Thank you sweetie. I love you too. Let's go to class."
When Yvy set foot in class, Chloe, her bootlickers and a few other students started shouting "miss cockroach! miss cockroach!" She was so embarrassed and so ashamed that she wanted to walk quickly to get to her place, but couldn't. Her feet were heavy and when Lea noticed this, She held hands with Yvy so that they could walk together and said to the others "keep encouraging Chloe, some of you are encouraging her for money and others because they don't know what she really is. In any case, I would have warned you."
A few moments later the philosophy teacher entered. He was a very tall, choppy gentleman. He introduced himself, gave his program and introduced the first lesson on the theme Does God Really Exist?.
"My friends do you think God really exists?" he said and the students started whispering.
"I think he exists because when I want to do a bad thing, I feel like he is talking to me to dissuade me." said a girl who raised her finger. The students began to laugh. Yvy in turn raised her finger to answer.
"I think that God exists because, when you ask him for something with sincerity, it always ends up coming true even if it lasts a long time, you just have to have faith in him and fight for what you asked for." Yvy answered courageously.
"Good demonstration miss. I personally do not believe in God, but what you have just said makes me think more about this subject. Remind me to make you plus one at the first evaluation.
"That's a pretty good demonstration. Personally I don't believe in God, but what you just said makes me think more about it. Remind me to put you plus one at the first evaluation." said the teacher.
"Thank you sir." finished Yvy happily.
"but sir she didn't say anything good or relevant to deserve that one point bonus. That's not fair" Chloe groaned crossing her arms and frowning.
"Okay! Give us your point of view on this subject and if it is relevant you will also have one point. Ok?" resumed the teacher, turning to Chloe.
"Sir, I think that God does not exist because me, for example, I have everything I want and when I want, without having to ask anything from a so-called God. And in addition if he really exists there would no longer be the poor or the sick. Here is another concrete example. I don't need to believe in God to know that I will win the class prefect elections." Chloe asserted with a conceited air.
After these words, the class began to murmur. We could hear here "We know that her father has money. So She makes a big deal out of it," And there "The teacher asks a simple question to Chloe and she, she has fun make her interesting".
"Shut up and let me continue my lesson" said the professor in a stern tone. When the teacher finished his lesson he left and the head master entered their classroom. "Good morning." "Good morning sir." answered the class in chorus.
"I'm here to give you the list of candidates for your class for the class prefect elections. Chloe candidate number 1, Yvy candidate number 2," Yvy was surprised to hear her name and her heart started beating very hard.
"Voting starts now and ends Friday of this week. I'm done." He added as he left the classroom. Moments, the siren rang and it was the second break.
"But what do I hear there, Yvy candidate?" muttered Chloe, widening her eyes.
Lea stood up "all together let's vote for Yvy and say yes to change." she shouted and some students answered in chorus "yesss to the change".
Chloe got up in turn "as you know I'm still elected every year and it's not this year that it will change. And of course as I know that I will be elected, to gratify you in advance, I invite everyone to eat in the canteen now" she said and the students chanted her name "wooooooo Chloe, Chloe, Chloe, Chloe."
And it's not over," she continued, "you all know that Chloe has a nice house, Chloe has money, so when Ill be elected, we're going to have a party, pool parties at my house and when one of you has a money problem I will help him, even you Yvy" with a smirk. The students again shouted her name in applause and this time they came to carry her for the to the canteen, they were all happy.
they all left except Yvy and Lea. Yvy was very upset against Lea because she knew that Lea was the only one who could have registered her as a candidate without her knowledge.
"Lea why did you go to register me in the list of candidates. Didn't I tell you that I didn't want to stand for that elections? If you wanted Chloe to have an opponent so much, you had to stand for election yourself, now I'm going to be ridiculed by Chloe," she said with a scowl.
"Yvy I'm sorry I knew that if I told you that I was going to submit your candidacy, you would have refused, and I did not submit mine because I do not feel capable of facing Chloe, yet you have already proved that you could stand up to her, and if you did it once you will do it again many times. I really apologize for what I did, I'm sorry," answered Lea.
"I forgive you, but never do that to me again. Come into my arms," said Yvy tenderly, hugging Lea. "I admit it, I don't know you well enough but I can say that you are a good person."
"I love you too sis." said Lea, so touched by Yvy's words that a tear ran down her cheek. "I'm going to make myself comfortable, I won't be long."
In the canteen, it was literally a party. The students took whatever they wanted and Chloe paid.
Instead of going to the toilet, Lea went to James's class instead. She found him and had a little chat with him. Then she came back to class.
"I have a surprise for you." She said joyfully to Yvy.
You and your surprises. Eh! No it's fine. I've had my fill for today.
Is that so! I won't let you know your surprise then. In any case, I'm not mean; you'll know it at the end of class.
The students came into class singing Chloe's name. As she sat down, Chloe cast a nasty look at Yvy. But Yvy remained cool, as if nothing had happened.
At the end of class, Yvy asked Lea to present her surprise and Lea asked her to wait until the class was empty. When there were no more students in class Lea stood up and asked him to follow her.
