Chapter 6 Act perfect

Alexandria hurriedly put on her dress and parked her hair in a messy bun before rushing out to the dining. She met Aiden already seated and she walked to him.

" Why were you in my room? " She asked and he scoffed.

" I thought I was in Alex's room. My bad. " He winked.

" What is wrong with you? You clearly know the difference between Alex and Alexa. Don't ever step in my room uninvited. What if I was naked?" She said and he chuckled.

" But you weren't sweetie so we're safe. " He smirked and she grunted before taking a seat opposite him.

" Looks like we missed a party. " Alex said as he took his on the right hand of Aiden which was the left hand of their father. They were going to play the perfect family today since Aiden was around but who were they fooling? Aiden knows about everything that happens in the house.

" Good evening Aiden . " Ava said walking down with Marcus. He had his arm wrapped around her waist like a perfect husband and Alex gripped his fork tightly.

" Don't create a scene. " Aiden whispered and held his hand.

They both sat in their respective seats, Marcus was on the left hand of Alex while Ava was on the left side of Alexa.

" Took you long enough. " Alexa whispered to her mother.

" Let's eat. " Marcus said and Aiden coughed. " What's wrong Aiden?"

" We haven't said our prayers. " He said and they all chuckled.

" I wonder why you always pray. You're worse than I am. " Alex teased.

" Prayer opens doors. Who knows? Maybe you might stop being all almighty soon. " He winked. He said a quick prayer and the maids began serving.

" So Aiden how's school?" Ava asked and Alexa stared at her.

" Great. I just skipped for two days but I'll start fully next week. " He said as cut his beef.

" And you're a B.A student too?" Marcus asked.

" Yes. I still have to take over from my father one day. " He said. Alex stared at his father. He knew where this conversation was leading to.

" You're a good son any father would ask for. Unlike mine that doesn't know what's good for his family. He wants to read theatre instead of business. " Marcus said and Aiden held a stiff laughter.

" Don't start dad. This is a peaceful dinner please don't ruin it for me. " Alex said and Marcus chuckled slightly.

" Try to be good when your friend's around. You don't have to show your ego to everyone. " Marcus said and Ava scoffed.

" That's enough. Let's eat in peace. No more chattering. " Ava said and Alexa smiles secretly.

ESMERALDA'S CABIN.

" Where are you going to? " Rowan asked as Esmeralda came out all dressed up to the nines.

" On a date. " She said arranging her hair.

" With who?"

" A guy I met at the mall. He's nice you don't have to worry. " She said and he chuckled.

" How long have you known him?" He asked.

" Two weeks. He's got his own money. "

" Are you with him cause of his assets?"

" You know I'm not like that Rowan. "

" Good. Has he given you a job?"

" Why the questions?"

" I wanna know if the guy my sister's going out with is worthy of going out with her."

" He is worthy. "

" Is that so? Then I'm coming with you. " He said and she sighed.

" Okay. "

They boarded a taxi to the restaurant Douglas has agreed to meet. Rowan came down first before Esmeralda. He helped her down and led her into the restaurant like the protective brother he was.

" You don't have to do this. People will think we have something. " She said and he laughed.

" Let them think. " He said as he walked towards the seat reserved for the dinner.

" Douglas hey. " Esmeralda said as she took her opposite him.

" Who's he? Your bodyguard? I never knew you're rich too. Why did you pretend to be poor? Scared I'll loathe you?" Douglas asked when he saw Rowan standing behind her.

" Take a seat, will you. " She said and Rowan pulled a chair for himself but Douglas stopped him.

" You shouldn't sit. You're just a bodyguard who can't afford anything so stand up. " He said and Rowan smiled mockingly.

" Douglas how dare you talk to my brother that way?" She flared up

" So he's your brother. I thought he was your bodyguard. Here I am thinking I found myself a rich girl. Guess I'll go with plan A. " He said and Rowan scoffed.

" Es, let's get out of here. " Rowan said and she nodded before standing up.

" Where do you think you're going to? " Douglas asked and Rowan grinned.

" Back home where we're accepted. " Esmeralda said as she took her bag.

" You can't walk out on him. You haven't eaten anything. You must eat something. " Douglas said and Rowan chuckled.

" And why should she eat something? She just told you that she needs to go home. " Rowan said and pulled her out.

" But....."

" I won't let you humiliate my brother this way. Never try to contact me again. " Esmeralda said and walked out of the restaurant with Rowan.

" I told you he wasn't worth you. " He said and she smiled.

" You were right yet again. " Esmeralda said. " We should go home. " She said.

" Yeah we should. Wait here, I think I just saw someone I know. " Rowan said and walked towards the alley along the street. He was later by a masked woman.

" You came looking for me the other day. " The woman said and he nodded.

" Why did you leave? " He asked.

" You don't expect me to stay there forever. I have a life of my own. I already told you to stop bugging me. I already gave you and your sister a comfortable life. " She said and Rowan grabbed her arm roughly and she winced.

" You call this life comfortable. I agree that you helped Es into Mayline University and you helped with my tuition fees but is that enough? We're your flesh and blood too even if our father's dead, we're still connected to you. " He said and she frowned through the mask.

" You ungrateful child. Never try to contact me again and you'll suffer for it. " She said and walked away.

" Rowan!" Esmeralda called behind him and he turned rigidly. Has she been there long? " Who was that woman?"
