Chapter 4 The girl in the shadows

Another 2 years has past since we took the climb test I sit on a ledge just thinking about all that's happened in the years I've been here how did I survive it all "Life here is anything but easy, don't you agree?" I said but complete silence surrounds me "how long do you plan on hiding?" I asked again "how did you know I was here" said a shy girly voice in the background "I've always known I was just waiting" I said as she stepped out of the shadows, she had pitch black hair and fringes her hair was short and straight she was wearing the black sleeveless assassins uniform she had two short bl

ades at her sides her lips were pink as though she had lipstick on but she didn't they were natural her skin was light and looked smooth like silk she had brown eyes that just look straight into your soul the glimmer in them looked so beautiful with the sun reflecting in them she was a sight to behold "waiting for what?" She asked "waiting for you to come out of the shadows, you were there when I was first brought here you were there during my beating tazing and drowning, you were there when I and Hijiro were being flogged for fighting, nobody knows it but every morning your the first through the halls through all the traps and up the wall into the cafeteria 2 years ago you were the first to find your way back up the mountain and you did it unharmed but nobody noticed cause its hard to see a shadow in darkness you might just be the most talented student here well it is to be expected you are the masters daughter after all" her eyes widened as she heard me say that "how did you know I was his daughter?" She said "the expression on your face just now when I said it " why are you stalking me?" I ask "I'm not stalking you" she replies while bowing her head "I'm sorry of course you weren't I'm not aware of the definition of watching someone in secret trying not to be noticed for 8 years " I say sarcastically "you interest me" she says with a soft voice slightly smiling, I smirk "you interest me too" I threw a kunai to her face she caught it close to her face she looked and I was gone "he disappeared?" she said but I was behind her about to deliver a round house kick to her head she grabbed my leg swept my feet with a kick then put one of her blades to my neck and asked "what the hell was that?!!" I smiled quickly grabbed her hand and switched our positions "just wanted to see how good you are" I said with a smile "how did you do that disappearing trick?" I smirked and said "that's a secret, wanna find out?" She nodded " then catch me" as I said that I ran and jumped of the ledge like I was sky diving turned my body in the air then landed on my feet then I began to run. She immediately started to run after me she was fast.

I ran into a cave their were lots of traps in it a giant blade came out of no were almost cutting me in half I slid under it she was on my tail so she jumped and ran on it she did a side flip off it and continued to pursue me. We reached an area where arrows were constantly fired back and forth we ran through them dodging every arrow she looked so agile and graceful as she dodged them with all types of flips and tricks i saw a light and jumped through it with my body tucked in and let out a cry "woooooohoooooo!!" She grabbed me while we were in the air I smiled widely and tried to kick her from the side she blocked she had a smile on her face too she threw a punch at me I grabbed her fist and performed a spinning kick she grabbed my leg as we realized we were getting to close to the ground I grabbed her and threw my grappling hook at a tree we started to swing down till we crashed and started to laugh.

"Well?" She said as the laughter reduced "well what?" I replied still chuckling "I caught you so spill how did you do it" she said while smiling at me. I reply her "its a secret so don't share it with anyone else ,OK?" She nodded, so I explain the trick to her "when the blade is thrown to your face all your focus is on it you don't wanna get hit so its practically the only thing you see in that moment someone fast enough could easily duck under your eyes and run behind you or something like that, it's actually a pretty simple trick" she looked at me and smiled "impressive, did you make it up yourself?" I nodded then she asked "do you mind if I start using?" Then I replied "no go ahead" she then said "but now that you've told me aren't you scared that it won't work on me next time?" I smirked picked up a small stone threw in the air her eyes looked away for not up to a second and I was behind her with a blade to her neck "do I look like someone that gets scared?" I said with a sinister smile. She was shocked that even knowing the trick wasn't enough to stop it from being used on her.

Someone came up to us it was Jay he said to me while acting ever so childish "I see you found your self a sweetheart hope you ain't getting freaky on the beach" I wanted to smack that grin off his smug face.

"Aren't you gonna introduce me bro?" His grin gets wider "he's your brother?" She asks "closest thing I got to one" i reply "I just realized you didn't tell me your name"

"Its keiko but you can call me kei" she replied

"Alright I'm..." I was cut off by keiko "I know both your names"

"How do you know our names?" Jay asks "she's been stalking us since we came here" I said without a care in the world she scrunched her eyes and gave me a slight frown "you know technically you've been stalking me too right?" She said "how so?" I replied "you knew I was there the whole time, you were watching me, you knew who my father was in fact you may be more of a stalker than me" she says. I smile "hmm maybe".

" Okay this looks like the start of a creepy relationship " Jay says i raise up a fist and tell him "guess which finger I'm thinking of" then an assassin comes to us and says your test will be starting soon. To the training hall.

When we reach the training hall first up is keiko, I'm excited to see her in action but what excites me more is we finally get to take the assassination test today we finally get to kill. I smirk.

Keiko is starting her opponent looks strong this is going to be good "what is keiko doing?" I ask as I see her perform some sort of dance with her blade "It kinda looks like a kata " jay replies.

Keiko throws her blade at her opponent and as she does not only does she vanish in the eyes of her opponent but she is able to vanish in the eyes of all of us there I stare in shock my eyes widen she perfected my move on the first day of seeing it. She is truly amazing.

We watch as her opponent looks around in fear when out of the shadows keiko runs out for a split second and slashes her opponents arm then disappears into the shadows again her opponent picks up a bow and arrow and tries to fire at her but with her arm injury she can't aim well and misses keiko runs out of the shadows again and slashes her opponents leg she drops to her knees as keiko runs back into the shadows a shuriken then flies out of the shadows hitting her opponents other leg then another shuriken hits her opponents other arm from the opposite direction then out of no where pops out keiko sinking her blade into her opponents chest .

I watch her as she pants a drop of sweat rolls down her cheeks

I look closely..... Wait that's not sweat that's a tear I look at the master and the other assassins hoping it went unnoticed...... Luckily it did, signs of remorse can get you in serious trouble here it shows weakness and although I hate weakness I can't hate her its not possible to hate someone of her talents.

Next up is Jay hope he does as good as the girl in the shadows.
