Chapter 8 SPECIAL SQUAD

The commissioner, sitting on the couch with him was his wife who sat by his side. Present in the sitting room high ranking police officers were present, the sitting room was really wide.

"How will someone have the guts to aim at the commissioner's life?" One of the high ranking police officer lamented, some were standing by the window side. Osas and Uche arrived. They both went directly to the commissioner and saluted and one of the top officers called them and was questioning them. Before they could continue with the questioning and discussion, the Inspector general of police Nigeria came in, you might wonder why this happened fast, the inspector general all the way from Abuja, he made use of the Police force helicopter.

Everyone stood at attention immediately the Inspector general was sighted.

"Easy everywhere," The IGP (INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE) ordered.

He then went straight to meet the commissioner, also sympathizing with wife because she was still afraid. The Inspector general then focused on the commissioner, " Commissioner, you need more security and the state does, and anywhere you go must not be disclosed, we will need to sit down and think about how to tighten the security."

The commissioner then replied back with quick response, "Thank you sir, I will report tomorrow at Abuja."

"No need for that, I will be around Lagos for a while," the Inspector general replied. He then looked around, "Where is the Detective in charge of late Alhaji Dansa Faruq case?"

As soon as Osas heard the question, he went straight to the IGP.

Osas, saluted and standing at attention, "Sir, Detective Osas from ikeja police headquarters, reporting sir."

The IGP looked at him smiled and patted his shoulder, "Calm down, this is not an official work, let's put it as a charitable act."

"Detective Osas, I want you to take the case very serious, the President is aware of this case on ground, you know the President is also a member of the SPP, so he knows that his party member was killed, and he is on my neck, please don't let me make a declaration of putting this state in a state of emergency, he wants quick results, that why I ordered this case should be given to the best team in ikeja police headquarters."

"Sir, we won't disappoint you" Osas replied immediately, without saying anything much.

"That's nice, I would be expecting great feedback and again, make sure you get your hand checked up regularly we can't afford to loose an outstanding detective. Where is your assistant?" The IGP commented and asked a question.

Uche was signaled by Detective Osas. Uche came there immediately, "Sir, Detective Uche from Ikeja police Hq reporting sir."

"Uche, I want you to also put your best and help Osas with this case I need quick response." The IG said and smiled and gave the permission for them to excuse themselves.

Then Detective Osas and Uche left the house.

"Uche let's go back to the base, let's see what really occurred?".

"The, CCTV footage caught some of the culprit face and according to our database, these people are teenagers" one of the tech guys reported.

"Were you able to get the license plate number of the motorcycle?" Uche asked while his full attention was on the screen trying to figure out why this happened.

"Yes,that was the first thing I did, but the bike was reported stolen about three weeks ago".

Osas then smiled, "so, this has been planned already, so they decided to hit us by surprise".

"Come with me Uche, and we need back up" Detective Osas ordered. Uche then turned to Officer John, "officer John you are tagging along with us". Officer John didn't disobey the order.

They all move to the equipment room where different gadgets were kept.The special squad team were present in the room, waiting for them.

On getting to the equipment room, Osas straight to a wardrobe made of iron, inform of a cage, turn on the light, opened it.

Bullet proof vest and different selections of guns, very clean, and the down part filled with bullet inside different packet, Uche then joined, Osas wore the vest, we aren't going to miss any chances, Osas then picked out a black pistol then walked to where the special squad team assembled leaving Uche to get prepared.

"I want you all to be smart about this, no teenagers must be killed, they might be the puppet to the perpetrators, I repeat no teenagers must be killed". Then Uche walked straight there, saluted Osas then screamed "attention everywhere", at once everywhere was organized.

"They all screamed..."

"Sir, yes sir".

"Now get ready, for we have a mission to carry out, do not leave any officer behind, watch each other back, is that understood".

Uche replied again with "Response everywhere".

The special squad team then replied loud "sir, yes sir".

Detective Osas then looked at Officer John, "you will wait with the two tech guys inside the van, am gonna leave a special squad person with you".

Officer John then saluted inform of response.

The team drove to the area the culprits were expected to be at, the team splitted into different place inorder to cover the area so that no one escapes easily. Special squad was known to be a team that doesn't just interfere In anyhow case, and the tactics they use was like that of the military, fine they were trained by the top arm forces in Nigeria, but this particular special squad team was under the police force.

Detective Osas and Uche came down from a black bullet proof Ford vehicle with tinted glass two other officers from the back. Uche walked directly to Van, knocked on the door three times with force though, John be at alert, watch your six very well, though a snipper is somewhere watching you guys because of your safety.

Uche went to meet Osas, who was talking with another officer while holding a tab on his hand, looking at the data of the people living the building.

"Sir, we are ready to go in".

Detective Osas returned the tab to the officer, then brought out his pistol checked the bullet, "let's move in".

Without out delaying, they moved to the front of building like Nigeria movie, the scene felt like the scenes in movie. Osas used his two fingers to signal Uche, the signal was that he was about climbing the stairs, he should watch his back, Osas climbed the stairs followed by Uche then some officers, they went to the door of one of the culprit, "Nigeria police, open up" Uche screamed.

There wasn't a reply then, the door was kicked down, immediately they went in, female clothes were found on the chair, the culprit trying to escape through the window.

"Team 2, culprit escaping through west side"

Team 2 was also another snipper.

Uche informed them, and followed the window too, to pursue the culprit.

The culprit was fast, like a guy into sports, his physic was like that of a sportsman and he got the energy.

Jumping from one spot to the other, Uche did same, since he is after him,Osas was left in the apartment looking for evidence and going around the house suspecting there is a lot more in the house.

Uche and the culprit got to a close end and the culprit turned back, "Detective you just got yourself into a big mess". Different boys started appearing from different side and some of the boys face were caught on CCTV camera, "we are five, you are just one, how do you want to face us".

They all laughed, "Detective you are dead".

Uche then smiled, kept his pistol in his gun pack his hunged on his trousers, while rolling his sleeves, " you think am one of the Detectives that over look things, ask about Me, am I psycho, I listen to no one".

He then bent down to pick a log of wood, laying down at a corner, then one guy rushed at him, before he could lift his hand to attack Uche, Uche already used the wood to hit his leg and gave him a punch on his face, another one rushed again, Uche use the wood on his back then slept him, they kept attacking Uche.

"You kids lack respect, and today you will regret it". Uche kept beating them until they were all on the ground on their knees, Uche flinged the wood away, gave them all slaps on their cheek it got swollen and red.

"Who sent you?", they were talking in shaking voice. One of them decided to speak up, but then you could feel the fear in his words.

"We don't usually see their faces and they do change their voice".

"That means you discuss on phone, then you would have their contact" Uche questioned the guy.

"It won't be easy like that, they are the ones that do the calling and the other part of it that they make use of a burner phone, which is untraceable".

Uche gave a smirk and his walkie-talkie buzz, "Uche come here immediately" Osas instructed.

By that time some officers were behind Uche, "take these boys to the station, we will continue our discussion".

Uche then dashed to the apartment, "what the heck!" He exclaimed on sighting something shocking, pack of weed and cigarettes, with pack of cocaine inside water sachets.

"What are these boys turning their lives to?" Uche gave out the questions.

"What I know now is that these children aren't working with normal people, they are involved with people of drugs which could endangered their lives" Osas responded to Uche.

"Seal this place, no one goes in or out of the building, not even fly" Detective Osas instructed an officer.

"Call the forensic and the search team to report here".

The officer responsed "Sir, yes sir".

Osas then walked out of the building with Uche, all these case just keeps revealing some crimes, crimes is already much and people aren't scared of involving themselves, we will see where this case leads to, we shouldn't leave any stone untouched.

" Sir, some of the faces we saw on CCTV were caught earlier as I pursued the culprit it seems this is their territory" Uche reported to Osas.

"Well the gentlemen, we have a lot of answer to give, I won't go likely again" Osas responded.

Uche phone buzzed a message just came in, the content indicates "my present location, headquarters, the hospital isn't safe again, there was an imposter that got into the office, he was caught, presently now in custody" the message was from Detective Anita.Uche read it out loud to Osas.

"These guys got crazy resources, we aren't after small people, but I sense some government officials might be involved in this" Osas gave his opinion.
