Uche was waiting for reply, after all his talk no response, he then singal some men to break down the door. Uche and the team went into the room and he out found the culprit and the situation looks like he was also a victim, a guy with broad chest holding a knife that was placed on the false culprit neck. Inside the same building they were still other two female culprit who were chained to an iron chair in the room. Uche had set up the plan that some officers will enter the apartment through the roof and Uche stood as a distraction to get the officers in.
The gun Uche pointed to the real culprit was raised, this was looking like a moment when someone want to walk back the point of relenting. "You don't have to do this, calm down let settle this amicably."
The real culprit then spoke in a very loud and commanding tone. "Tell your people to get the hell out of my way, unless you won't like what will happen next."
"Okay, am going back, don't harm anyone please."
Uche then close the the door, "Permission granted, take action."
The guys inside the ceiling, was granted the permission to engage, they entered the apartment where the culprit was in by breaking the ceiling of the kitchen, why another team brought the main door down and the culprit wanted to escape.
Uche came in through the door and shouted, "Stay where you are, your hands up, if you do anything funny a bit will pass through your head. Uche then walked straight to the culprit and handcuffed him.
"If you do or say anything, it will be used against you in the court of law." Uche then handed him over to one of the officer close to him.
Uche then ordered one of his subordinate, "Call the paramedics, we have people here that needs treatment."
Inside the Ikeja Nigeria police headquarters, Uche was in the interrogation room with the culprit while the others watched the interrogation from outside the room. Inside the room the culprit was handcuffed to the table.
Uche then questioned the culprit, "So, you put someone to commit these atrocious act and murder. What do you have on these people that makes them do your biddings."
The culprit was really good at keeping mute and playing with words, "You think say I go talk, I no go talk" (Do you think I'm gonna utter a word, I won't give way).
The door to the interrogation room was opened, Osas with a file in his hand came in flipping through pages, though he was still in his hospital wears, but he wore a long brown jacket and a headwarmer. "Sam, am gonna make you talk."
Detective Osas then adjusted his chair and look at him, "I know much about you Sam, you were filed with different numerous of cases and there are lots of information about you in the police database."
"The other thing there is I still don't know how you cover up your tracks and come up with your silly plans. You have a sick mother, who you send money home every month end, so you better start talking or I will make you talk the hard well."
Sam the culprit on hearing his mother name, he started talking, his mother was sick. "Look, I was paid to do some random job, like just one or two, all I did was just to do the job, so I could earn some money. Just because this system is so fucked."
Uche then stood up from his seat and wandered around the room after hearing what came out from the culprit's mouth, Osas stared at the culprit thinking of what to say, "You call that a job that could earn you money, it led to the lost of many lives. Blood is on your hands and I still wonder how you won't have nightmares, like your conscience is dead."
Detective Osas then leaned comfortably, he stretched his right hand on the table and look directly into Sam's eyes, "My friend, just give us the names so we will be able to help you, you are in the situation you can't help yourself."
Sam still refusing to talk, still remaining adamant. Detective Osas still added something he thinks that would make him open "Look here I no Sabi why you dey form strong head, if you go prison who go take care of your mama" (look here, I don't why you being so adamant, when something tragic happens to you,who will take care of your mother).
On hearing about his mother, Sam murmured and then open up to detective Osas, "These people are untouchable, you can't just deal with them easily."
After he gave the statement, he came fully aware of the situation, "But come to think of it by now am supposed to be out of here, have been here for more than an hour, do they want to get rid of me?"
Uche then stopped moving around, he then walked straight to the table Sam was handcuffed in and he place his two hands on the table, looked directly into Sam's eyes, "Now, you do know they don't care about you, they don't care if you die or rot here, you are just a puppet, a tool they use to do any of their dirty jobs."
Sam moving his head, licking his lips and hitting the table, "Damnit, I will talk, but promise me my mother will be safe, and I too will be safe."
Anytime am having a job offer like this, "The truth is that I don't usually see the face of the person sending me the offer, and again is that they do send me an email, and wire my money on time."
During the talk with Sam, officer John opened the door to the interrogation room. He gave his salutation in form of solidarity, "Sir, the commissioner is in your office, and he is requesting for your presence, I told him you were doing some serious interrogation."
"Nice, Officer John thank you." Uche then faced Detective Osas, "Sir, I will like to head there now, any more information he gives, please let me know." "Sir," Uche saluted and left the interrogation room.
Uche walked into his office while the commissioner was sitting on his seat, and then saluted, "Sir."
The commissioner went straight into the conversation, "Detective Uche, how is the case going on, I need quick answers, I'm being pressured by the governor and the media is around spreading wrong news about the death of Dansa and the accident my officers were involved in, so I need to come up with something."
"Sir, we are really trying our best to uncover the truth and we are working really fast to bring them before justice, using them as an example that justice still presides in this country."
The commissioner gave a sigh of relief and he leaned forward on the chair he was sitting on, "Uche, I need answers, really fast."
Uche then replied, "You will surely get an answe Sir."
Uche then thought of something to do and say, "Sir, I have a small favor to ask from you."
"Go on, what is it?" The commissioner asked.
"Sir, can Detective Osas and Anita work with me on this case?"
"No, they can't, they haven''t regained fully, you are endangering their health," the commissioner fired back at detective Uche.
"Sir, they won't be on field, I believe join with me on the case, more experience is available. So in this case more experience is expected."
"Uche, that is a really tough call to make, I will get back to you before the end of the day."
*********************************
Osas looked at Sam directly, "Sam, you really involved yourself in some terrible shit, you already messed up your life. Even though we will be able to help you, it just a bit, truth be told, your case is a tough one, why were you so covered with the opinion of making money in any way."
When Osas was speaking to Sam, Uche came into the space and waited for while then he added, "Apart from this, let me just tell you the truth, we will carry your case to court, let the court be the one to judge your case, deep down in you, you already know what will happen, I just hope you will ask God for forgiveness."
Sam was banging the table and saying, "I already gave you the information and you have to help me out in anyway."
The Detectives left the word to him, and they both left the interrogation room hleft the interrogating room. Uche tapped an officer on his shoulder, "Take him back to the cell."
Then Osas and Uche went out of the interrogation room, Osas was flipping through the case files and he and Uche were discussing some words, "Uche, the real backbone behind this guy is a top official in the government," so Osas stopped at a spot and he recall something, "Uche let's go check on Anita, I think she might have something to say on this matter." Trying to pick up the pieces trying to patch them together, so Anita's opinion will be needed. Tthey went of the police building and they got into the car, Uche sat down in the driver's seat.
