Chapter 5 SUSPECT

Still in Southpaw club, Rasaq Akeem stares at Detective Uche from afar, walking towards his direction.

"Look who will have here, the famous Detective Uche."

Surprisingly, Rasaq Akeem interrupted the plan Uche had already set in place.

Just to pretend, "And you are?" Uche asked stylishly.

"Come of it Detective, I know you know, and am very sure you guys got my pictures In some of your big screen in your office."

Uche, unable to do anything but squeezed his fist ready to punch him in the face, "You are welcome to have a drink with me, come over to my table," Uche then concluded in order not to create a scene, he corporated with him and went over to the table.

Sitting on the table, Rasaq Akeem signaled the bar man and ordered a wine, "I with Alhaji Dansa, were co-workers, we were close for a while, but I noticed he changed, he started to have interest in politics, he started to play the dirty politics, and also bringing politics into the organization, this led us to always have a misunderstanding on any little thing."

Uche sat there listening to what he wa saying, as he was speaking he was pouring the wine into the glass cup on the table.

"Detective, if you agree with me, you would have known it easy to frame another person in this politics matter, I knew when he died the police will come looking for me using the fact and the tip they got that we both had misunderstanding years back."

Uche then asked, "How are you this much confident, and you talking like you knew why he died."

"Dansa was always over ambitious, this time around am sure he saw or he was involved in something he wasn't supposed to be involved with. Look here Detective, this case is going to drive the police force crazy, it just a matter of time for it to be buried under the rug."

Uche was shocked with the statement "Buried under the rug," after a little chat for a while, Detective Uche phone rang, he stares at the screen saw it was Osas and then he reduced the volume.

"I can see you've got an urgent call, that just the life of a Detective, at anytime of the day, he must get an urgent call," Rasaq Akeem said while he sip his wine.

"We will discuss some other time," Uche then got up.

"Drink up Detective," Rasaq requested Uche to drink the wine.

"Well, I drove here and I will drive back, so this isn't advisable," Then Uche walked out, dialling Osas number.

"Sir, what is the latest?"

"Anita, just woke up, and I haven't informed the police HQ about this, I told the doctor to keep this a secret."

"Am coming over there, give me some minutes I will be there." Uche then enter his car and left the club.

"Oga sir, I be dey with the commissioner, we dey discuss the current matter, concerning the incident." (Sir, I was with the commissioner, we were on the discussion of the current matter concerning the accident).

As Uche was discussing with Osas, they were walking towards Anita ward, "Sir," the officers at the door saluted them, Osas gave them reply.

Uche sat down on the bed close to anita, placed his hand on her forehead, "Anita how are you feeling now?"

"Am good now, just feeling a little pain" Anita replied in a cool and low voice.

"Uche, I heard you have involved the special squad in this matter?"

"Sir, yes we have to take another dimension to deal with this case, I was with Rasaq Akeem, it doesn't seem like he was the culprit of the crime" Uche replied Osas.

Anita then sat up well on the bed, "Why do say so?"

"I was with Rasaq, I could see the confidence in him, he wasn't sacred, he kept telling me things."

"Things like what, open more to us Uche, I want to know what at stake" Osas asked Uche.

Uche then started to narrate the conversation he had with Rasaq Akeem to the other Detectives.

"He told me how he with Alhaji Dansa worked together, they were close for a while, but he said he noticed some changes, he said Alhaji Dansa started to have interest in politics, he started to play the dirty game, bringing politics into the organization, this left them always having misunderstanding when the come across each other."

Osas and Anita seems very interested in the case, while they listened to Uche's narration.

"He even told me it easy to frame another person in this politics matter, he knew when he died the police will come looking for him using the fact and the tip they got that they both had misunderstanding years back."

"So that was what he told me, from the narration Sir, you can see the confidence in the statement, so I came to the conclusion to still make research about this crime, but I have involved the special squad in this matter. This was on the order of the Commissioner, we must take another dimension to hit them hard."

After listening to Uche. Osas looked directly at Anita and asked, "Anita, what do you think?"

In a low voice, Anita spoke and she was given a tablet. So she was checking the pictures of the special squad.

"This is the Alpha team of the Special squad, they are good to go, so the dimension we are going to take won't allow them to know what on ground. Uche I will still like you involved the bravo team, the bravo team will be used to fight crime in another way, why the major issue on ground, the alpha team will fight it undercover. That means the teams will confuse them." Anita then gave her point of view.

"Alright, I'm in support with the plan," Detective Osas then turned to Uche.

"Weyti u think, u dey follow join bodi" (what's your opinion, are you in support).

"Yes sir, all I want to make those bastards pay."

"Sir, I will give you heads up on the case, but the commissioner informed me that you both are off the case for now" Uche disclosed the information.

Detective Osas just looked at Uche, while Anita adjusted herself well on the bed.

"Uche, you do know that isn't gonna work, am highly interested in the case and the bastard that caused my accident, just increased my interest in the case." Osas told Uche while staring into his eyes.

"Sir, I can't contend words with you, I already knew you were going to be like this, so I decided that you both will work undercover, that's you're going to be my backbone," Uche suggested.

When Uche was still discussing with Osas and Anita, a message beep came in.

"Sir, the location of the guy that drove the truck has been confirmed." Uche then showed the message to Osas, Anita was eager to know what's the content of the message, Osas then passed the phone unto Anita.

"Uche, I want you guys to hit this guy hard, I will stay low, no one will be aware that Anita has woken up," Osas told Uche.

Uche was out of the hospital room and he was on his phone and walking fast, he was planning to go to the location that was detected, so he involved his officer, "I want all officers available here and the most active officers in the headquarters to move down to the spot, do not engage stay low and hidden wait for my order."

The hospital gate was opened, and a black Ford explorer vehicle was driven into the hospital compound with full speed, it was the special squad that drove the car and it was also with black tinted glass. Uche then entered the vehicle sat at the front and lock the door, checking the bullets of the gun and he then dropped it down, he put on his bullet proof vest, "Alright, listen up, special squad I want us to deal with the guy fast, no casualty must be taken, and the guy must not be killed." Uche told his subordinates.

The walkie talkie buzzed, "Do You Copy?" the caller on the other end asked.

Uche then picked up the walkie-talkie and gave his reply, "Loud and Clear"

The officer on the other end said, "Radio Check sir, I have a message sir."

Uche then asked the officer to transmit the message.

"Sir, the location has been secured." He reported.

"Roger,stand down for now am just few blocks away," Uche replied.

The black Ford explorer vehicle arrived the location, Uche then came down, gathered the special squad team then he had a small discussion them. "Earlier today, some of our officers disguised as couples and they rented an apartment close to the culprit. All I want is we should be really cautious here, no casualty." Uche enlighten the special squad and the special squad team spread out.

"Tunde, follow me I want you and two other guys to go into the other room now, I will be the only one going into the culprit's apartment."
