Chapter 8 VIII

Elly

I would have never guessed that Kain is so romantic. He planed a picnic for us. I wait until Kain sits next to me and starts taking food out. He made sandwiches, fruits salad, cookies, sodas, etc.

"Thank you!" I tell him and kiss him on his cheek.

"Do you like the surprise then?" he asks me.

"I love it. I haven't been on a picnic since..." but I stop midair.

Kain doesn't say anything, he waits for me to finish.

"Since my parents died," I finish.

"Oh, Elly. I didn't know. I am so sorry," Kain tells me and hugs me.

"It is okay. As you said, you didn't knew."

"May asks what happened?"

"Rogues attacked us. I don't remember anything. Dan told me I was in a coma for a month. When I woke up, I realized I forgot a lot of things. Including you."

Kain cups my cheek and strokes my skin with his thumb.

"I am so sorry, Elly. Your parents were good folks. They never said anything about my mother or me being vampires," he tells me.

"And I am sorry about your mother," I tell him.

We remain looking into each other eyes for a while, comforting each other. Even if we don´t say anything, I understand what Kain is trying to tell as he understands what I want to say to him.

After a while, we start eating. I must confess, I haven't had so much fun in a long time. Being with Kain feels so right. We talk about a lot of stuff and laugh a lot. I get to learn so much stuff about him. Like, his obsession with cutting each sandwich as a perfect triangle. Or how he hates ketchup but loves mayonnaise. I find it odd he like tomato juice, but hates orange juice, while I hate tomato juice. We have different tastes, but we fit, like two puzzle pieces.

And we kiss a lot too. I love kissing Kain. I might be getting addicted to his kisses and his touches. I am on my back, and Kain is on top of me, kissing me like his life depends on it. I can feel how much he wants me, but he never says anything about it. After a while, he stops and puts his forehead on my shoulder. I can tell he is struggling with his control. It is like he already knows I am not ready to get to the next level with him.

We spend the next week meeting each day and having a lot of fun. Each day we do something different. We dance, read, talk about everything, listen to stories that happened to him, see more pictures. Kain tells me how he spent ten years looking for me because he never forgot me. I never thought someone could love me so much. And Kain makes me so happy.

On one of the days, he insisted on taking photos of me. I am shy at first because I don't know how to pose, but Kain is very patient with me. And when he decides to take photos of me while I dance, it is even worse.

"Relax. Forget about the camera. It's just you and me, and you are dancing for me," Kain tells me.

I try to do as he asks of me. I close my eyes and listen to the soft music that is coming from my phone. I am wearing a ballerina outfit. It is only me and Kain, no camera, nothing. I imagine Kain's face as I dance and how he looks at me with hungry eyes. I lose myself in the moment and forget about the photos.

When I finish dancing, his lips are on me, kissing me, tasting me. He has this need, this craving to touch me, and I feel the same. Everytime I can, I touch him.

"So beautiful, Elly. You have no idea how beautiful you are," he tells me between kisses.

I never thought I was beautiful, but Kain makes me feel like I am the only female in the whole world. And maybe, I am for him.

"I love you," he tells me.

"And I love you," I tell him.

I tell Kain the truth that I have fallen deeply in love with him and that I love him with all my heart. I still don't know what will happen to our love, but right now, all I want to think of is the present. Carpe diem, as the Latins used to say.

"You love me?" he asks, not believing his ears.

''I do. I am in love with you."

He takes me in his arms and spins me in the air. "You made me the happiest male alive," Kain tells me before kissing me again.

Kain

I couldn't believe my ears when Elly told me she loves me. I have hope she would fall in love with me, but I never thought she would tell me so soon the three words I wanted so bad to hear. When I look into her eyes, my heart feels like a drum.

"I want you to be mine, Elly. My bride. I don't want you to find your mate and leave me for him. It will break me if you leave me," I tell her my darkest fear.

She shakes her head. "That will never happen," she tells me and bites her lower lip. "My mate rejected me, and I accepted his rejection. It is only you and me."

I take her in my arms and kiss her for a long time. "I claim you as mine, Elly. Do you accept my claim and be my bride?" I ask her.

"Yes," she whispers, and as soon as the answer leaves her lips, I am kissing her again, and again.

"Tomorrow is a lunar eclipse. I was wondering if you would like to see it with me," I say after we break the kiss.

"I don't think Dan will let me out so late," Elly tells me.

I put on puppy's eyes, "Please?".

"I will see what I can do. I will send you a message later, OK?" Elly says to me.

"I will be waiting for your message then."

The next morning I work on the photos I took of Elly. I choose the best one and send it to an amateur photos contest. I don't have high hopes to win anything. Each year I send a photo, but I never won anything. Even so, each year, I keep trying.

In the photo I sent, Elly is with her back as the Sun. The light is hiding her facial features, in her ballerina clothes, her hair in a bun, while she is next to the water, dancing. I clean the cabin in case Elly comes over. It is a small place with a small bed, a table and a chair, and a small cooking area. When I found the cabin, I was surprised to see it has solar panels, so I have electricity.
