Chapter 5 V

Elly

The next day, after I eat breakfast, I decide to go back to the forest. I am not even sure I will see Kan again. And after the way I run away like rogues were chasing me, I am not sure Kain won't laugh at me. Gosh, I am so embarrassed. Why do I have to be such a scaredy-cat?

I walk with small steps until I get close to the waterfall. And I see Kain. He is on his knees, taking photos of flowers. He is very concentrated on his task, and I don't want to bother him.

I look at him and wait until he is finished. It is now that I see what broad shoulder he has. I have to admit, Kain is very good-looking. Maybe the most handsome male I have ever seen.

I sigh. Too bad he is a vampire. I wish he were a werewolf, things would be easier.

Lost in thought, I don't even realize when Kain stands and see me.

"Elly! You came back!" he says and walks until he is standing in front of me.

"Hi! Yeah. Sorry for running away like that yesterday," I say and look at the grass.

"Is it because of something I said?" Kain asks.

"No! Of course not!" I say and look at him.

He smiles at me with a boyish grin. I point at his camera, "You were taking photos."

"Yeah. I am a freelancer photograph. Apart from jobs I get, when I travel, I also take photos of the places I see and then sell them on the internet."

"You travel a lot?" I ask him.

"Yes, but I might settle for a while," Kain says, looking into my eyes.

"Can I see some of your photos?" I ask him.

"Sure. You want to sit?" he asks and points at the log we used yesterday.

I go over to the log and sit. Kain sits next to me and starts to show me photos he took from the forest. I lean into Kain a little so that I can take a better look at the photos. I am so close to him that I can feel his respiration on my skin everytime he turns his head towards me to explain something about a photo. I try to concentrate on the photos he shows to me, but my heart keeps missing a beat every time he speaks. I try to focus on the photos because he is very talented.

"Wow! All these photos are from this forest?" I ask because I couldn't believe that such good photos were from my forest.

"Yes. Do you like them?" Kain asks me.

"Yes! You are very talented. Did you study photography?" I ask him while I still look at the photos.

"No, I learned as I started to travel. I had to find a way to make money. I did many jobs until I started with photography," he tells me.

"At what age did you start to travel?" I ask Kain.

I wish I could travel like him and see the world. I wait for Kain's response while I look at a photo of the waterfall. This is a great photo.

"Kain?" I ask when I realize that he has fallen silent.

I look at his face, and he looks in the distance.

"At the age of eleven," Kain says after a while.

"With your family?" I ask, hoping the answer is yes.

"Alone. After you and your family left, my mother disappeared. She had a night job. She went to work and never came back," he says, still looking in the distance. "I waited for her for a long time, but she never came back. I looked for her for a long time too, but I couldn't find her. Eventually, I decided to travel."

My heart aches for him. Has Kain been alone all this time? No family? No friends? I had Dan, and I know that I can always count on my brother. But what about Kain?

"Were you alone all this time? I am sorry about your mom," I say to him.

Kain lowers the camera.

"Yes, I was alone. It is OK, I got used to the idea that I will never see my mom again, " he says with a faint voice.

I can't imagine how hard this must have been for him. I always had Dan with me. Now I understand why he wants a friend. He feels alone. I can be his friend.

"Let's be friends," I say.

Kain looks at my face and studies me for a time. Finally, he nods, "Let's."

I smile, "Show me more photos. They are amazing."

Kain lifts the camera and continues to show me more photos from the forest. How many does he have of the forest?

"Don't you have of other places you visited?" I ask him.

Kain ruffles the hair from the back of his head.

"I do, but they are back at the place where I am staying, on memory cards. I can bring them tomorrow if you would like," Kain tells me.

"Yes, I would love to! You are so talented. I wish I were as half as talented as you," I say.

"But you are talented, Elly."

"No. I did take some photos with my phone, but they are bad," I say and sigh, remembering all the photos I took with my phone.

Kain starts laughing. I blush. Is he laughing at me?

"Oh, Elly, I am not talking about photos, but about your dancing skills. I have never seen anyone dance like you."

"Oh, dancing. I don't know if I am good. I just dance because I love it," I say.

He looks at me with his blue eyes, and it is only now that I realize they are ocean blue.

"You are very talented, Elly. One day will you dance for me?"

I never danced in front of anyone, because I think people will laugh. I studied everything by myself. But I like the idea of having Kain looking at me while I dance.

"I would like that," I say in a low voice.

Kain smiles, "Then it is settled."

"I have to go. Dan should be back home soon," I tell him.

"Dan? Your brother?" Kain asks me.

"Yes, I live with him. See you tomorrow."

"Elly, do you have a phone number?" Kain asks me.

"Yes," and I give him my phone number.

When I get home, I see Dan pulling in the driveway. Seconds later, Victor gets out of the car, followed by a tall, blond female. He looks at me and then takes the female by her hand and kisses her. She clings to him like she is a baby koala.

Victor

I danced with Daisy for a long time while we talked. She is from a bigger, and she is a Gamma, a warrior. I like this very much. She will make a good mate and a good Beta, not like Elly. I wonder what Elly will say when she will see that I have found another mate?

While I look into Daisy's golden eyes, I keep thinking of Elly's chocolate eyes. Come on, Victor, Daisy is a much better mate than Elly will ever be.

"Come," I tell her and lead her by her hand into an empty room. "I want to make you mine," I tell her, and Daisy agrees.

While I am with Daisy, I keep thinking about how Elly would react if I would tell her I want to make love to her. She would probably run away and hide in a closet or something. Or worse, she would tell her brother. Nah, Daisy is the better choice.

The next day we go back to the pack, and I take Daisy with me. I want to show her the pack and talk to her about moving in as soon as possible.

When I get out of the car and help Daisy get out. I look around, and I see Elly. She is smiling and looks happy. I have never seen her smile like this. Elly seems so innocent. When she sees me, her smile dies on her lips. I want to see her smile again.

Why the hell am I thinking of Elly so much? I take Daisy in my arms and kiss her. I am sure Elly will start crying and run away. But when I break the kiss with Daisy and look at Elly, she is talking with another female, Andrea, and she smiling again. She showing something to Andrea, on her phone.

"I want to show you my room," I say to Daisy, and I lead her by her hand.

I plan to have Daisy in my bed and lose myself in her until Elly is out of my head.
