Chapter 3 It's Just A Deal

It was just a deal where they got what they wanted from each other. The man averted his gaze away from her after having sex.

He stood and put on his clothes in an elegant demeanor.

Only then did Alice open her eyes. The torture was finally over.

She moved as quiet as possible. Her eyes turned red, unable to hide the bitterness in her heart. She stared at his back with her clear eyes, as if she was engraving his appearance in her mind, so that she could remember it forever.

He was quite young, but the apathetic and heartless aura exuded didn't match his age.

After a few seconds, the man finished straightening himself up. The elegant black suit wrapped his strong, beautiful figure, making him look perfect enough to attend a high-class dinner.

His image was in stark contrast to Alice's disheveled appearance.

Right now, he was as cold as when he entered the room. The shape of his face was like a sculpture made by an artisan-perfect, elegant, and devoid of emotion.

As he attached the last cuff link, he glanced at the girl from his peripheral vision. And without looking back, he left her there.

The moment her eyes met his sharp gaze, Alice's heart trembled and she shut her eyes tightly. Even until his footsteps faded and the door was left slightly open, she still didn't dare to open her eyes.

Did he know that she was just pretending to be asleep? But he didn't even bother saying a word to her.

Alice's heart was aching, but she had no choice but to endure it. The sense of powerlessness and humiliation engulfed her heart, torturing her until she could barely breathe.

'I should thank him!'

She sat up, her body still aching. She forced a smile, which looked worse than when she was crying. Tears started rolling down her delicate face.

Without his help, how could she ever earn three million dollars to pay off her father's gigantic debt?

Her eyes fell on the torn white dress in the room.

He had torn up her dress just now. She couldn't wear it anymore.

How was she going to leave here without anything to wear?

"Wait!" All of a sudden, she sobered up and stumbled down from the bed.

Upon hearing her voice, the man stopped. But he didn't turn around. His broad back exuded a frigid aura that spread across the room, as if he was blaming her for overestimating her capacity.

Her fair legs were now trembling with pain as she pursed her bloodless lips. And with the last bits of her strength, she stammered, "I...I need some clothes."

"I hope you know that our relationship is limited to money." His cold voice rang inside her ears as she looked at his back. The indifference he exuded seemed to have gotten worse.

After saying that, he left the suite without hesitation.

It was as if another second longer with her would tarnish his indifferent and ethereal posture.

The heavy door slammed shut behind him, and the wind blew across the strands of hair on her forehead. It seemed that even the air was mocking Alice for what she had done.

Alas! Why would a man who spent millions to find a "tool" to bear his child, care about her trivial request?

As she stared at the closed door with her sore eyes, she felt that the blood coursing through her body was frozen. She was overwhelmed by sadness and her own powerlessness. All she wanted to do right now was cry and slap herself.

A few moments later, she went to the bathroom and found a bathrobe. She wrapped it tightly around her body and walked out of the hotel.

Twenty minutes later, she got out of the taxi in front of the shopping mall downtown. She found a small boutique and bought a suitable dress. Afterwards, she rushed to the hospital where her father was confined.

"Humph! Our family is so poor and you still have the audacity to buy a new dress?" Mary Yu, her stepmother, offered her some sarcastic words as soon as Alice entered the in-patient department.

Alice had gotten accustomed to her stepmother's sarcasm, so it wasn't a big deal to her anymore.

"Aunt, how is Dad feeling today?" Ever since his business went bankrupt half a month ago, her father became so anxious that he vomited blood and fainted. After he was sent to the hospital, he was diagnosed with a severe liver disease.

In just a few days, her father aged ten years older. All he did was sigh all day long on the bed and try to pull out the needle several times, trying to give up the treatment.

"Thanks to you, he's still alive. But if you spend too much money haphazardly, I'm sure he'll be infuriated!" Mary snorted as she walked into the ward in her shiny high-heeled shoes.

In the small ward, Edgar Luo was having an IV drip.
