Chapter 3 Mommy Lost Her Memory

When Coco found out that she was pregnant, she had carefully considered what she would say to her child once he came of age and would want to know who and where his father was.

Thus, she had prepared three explanations.

First, she thought to tell him that his father was an arrogant and domineering businessman that had been obsessed with her. However, when he found out that she was pregnant, he tried to force her to abort the baby, and that was why she ran away to a distant place.

Second, she would claim that the father was dead. She could even choose from a variety of reasons-car accident, cancer, or even the black plague. The point of the story was that the father was dead, but she was strong enough to raise a child by herself.

Third, she also considered telling her son that he was actually a test tube baby, and she didn't know who his father was.

These dramatic answers were effective every time they were used in romance novels and dramas. However, when the time came, she found herself at a loss. She rejected all the explanations she had prepared one by one, as her determination collapsed in the face of the boy's pure and innocent eyes.

How could she lie to her child?

After careful consideration, Coco decided to tell the truth, even if the truth would sound more outlandish than those three explanations.

"Carl, the truth is that I also want to find your biological father, but unfortunately, I have no idea who he is. I don't even know whether it is a man, a woman, or even nonhuman."

Hearing his mother's words, Carl bit his bottom lip in frustration. "Mommy, you can't have children with a woman, and more importantly, with a 'non-human' person! Please don't avoid my question and answer me directly," he pleaded with his mother.

Coco could only sigh, as her young child got to the core of the problem in such a short time. She was glad that her son didn't inherit her lack of wit and intelligence.

Unfortunately, her son was also tenacious, as evidenced by the way he stared at her unwaveringly, patiently waiting for an answer. Coco gritted her teeth before she spoke.

"All right. Let me tell you the truth then. I have no memory of the entire time before you were in my belly."

Finally, she said it. She wouldn't blame Carl if he didn't believe her immediately, because even as a romance novel writer, she had to admit that memory loss was such a ridiculous explanation.

However, it was also the truth.

At that time, Coco had woken up on a small wooden bed with no recollection of her past. Compared with not remembering who she was, the bigger trouble was that there was a child of unknown origin in her belly.

A doctor with greasy bangs had examined her and found that she had a congenital uterine malformation. It meant that if she had the baby aborted, she would never be able to conceive again. The chance to be a mother would have been taken away from her.

That day, Coco tossed a coin and made the most difficult decision in her life. She would give birth to this child.

Although she had wailed and screamed for a day and two nights in the delivery room because of the difficult labor, she was lucky to have such a handsome son.

Now that Carl heard the real version of the story, he fell silent, and his chubby face turned slack and thoughtful. Coco suddenly felt sorry for him.

After all, he was still a child. Although he had an extraordinarily high IQ, there was no guarantee that he would understand the complications of real life. Wasn't it cruel to tell him these things at such a tender age?

"It's okay, Mommy. I'm living a good life. You're enough for me," said the little boy with a firm nod.

Coco let out a sharp gasp, as she was moved to tears, and she threw her arms around her sensible little boy.

She had never felt so satisfied and content before that moment.

'Mommy can be so stupid sometimes. Anyway, I'd better stop asking more questions, so she would stop crying and wetting her clothes.'

The little boy sweetly curled up closer to his mother's chest. It didn't matter if his mother had lost her memory. He was, after all, gifted with an extraordinary affinity with computers. He could find his father himself!

Meanwhile, it didn't make much of a difference to Coco if Carl's father was alive or dead.

As long as he didn't come to take her son away, she didn't care who he was!

At the same time, the man they were talking about was surrounded by a pile of documents. In the comfortable temperatures of his luxury office, he felt a sudden chill crawl on his back as a sneeze escaped his lips.

That weekend, Coco spent her afternoon working. She had racked her brains non-stop until she finally finished the week's last update. In this part of her story, the hero had forced the heroine to have an abortion, and the heroine lay on the operating table with tears. The comment section was filled with complaints and flames!

However, she merely brushed off the readers' complaints like they were nothing and turned off the computer with a relieved sigh. She then took her son out for a drive towards the city center, driving at a snail's pace.

"Mommy, hurry up! Don't mistake the brake for the accelerator. The guy behind us has been honking in complaint!"

Carl's remarks grated at Coco's nerves. She sat tensely in the driver's seat, the steering wheel clenched tightly in her trembling hands. As a new driver, she was under great pressure!

However, the little boy beside her kept on pestering her. "Mommy, how did you get a driver's license when you drive like this? Did you really take the driving test?"

Coco stared at him blankly and replied, "Son, although we are very rich, I would not dare to buy a driver's license. I could hurt myself and others if I did that!"

"Really? Do you dare to use that money?" 'Don't try to fool me just because I am a kid!' thought Carl rebelliously in the privacy of his mind.

......

'Why do I have such a smart son?!' Coco lamented in her mind, as she didn't know how to answer his question.

Of course, she was indeed rich. When she woke up, the first thing she found beside her ID card was a stack of cash and a bank card. She had checked how much money the account had and found a hundred million dollars in it.

However, she never touched that money because she was afraid the person who gave her the card would cause trouble for her, or worse, he could take her son!

"Don't underestimate my ability to make money. Writing is very profitable, you know!" She finally answered just as their car came to a stop. They had finally arrived at their destination.

"Well, since you have a lot of money, can we eat there?" The little cherub pointed at a restaurant with a golden sign outside.

A gigantic poster displayed a picture of the Tycoon Seafood's Big Mac.

Coco was speechless for a moment. Her son just pointed at the most expensive seafood restaurant in the area. A single dish in that place would cost her half a month's salary!

Thinking fast, she lightly tapped her son's finger so that it would turn the other way. "Son, I think this might be more suitable for you!"

It was a buffet that offered free drinks. There, they could eat as much as they could at the cost of only one hundred dollars.
