Chapter 10 Noisy Neighbors

"Anyway, where is the hooded man who saved my son?" Coco asked, wiping her snot.

"Ry... Err... Well, he is the foreign aid who has joined this rescue operation. He has left already." The agent swallowed loudly. He was about to blurt out the truth.

The man had made a dramatic entry, leaving the police astonished. However, he had left as fast as he had entered. His only intention had been to save the little boy.

A smile stretched across the agent's lips when he looked at Carl. 'Isn't this boy a mini version of him?' he mused.

No wonder the man had risked his life to save him. However, his indifference towards the mother surprised the agent.

He smiled sympathetically at Coco.

"Carl, let's go somewhere and eat. I am starving." The incident had drained Coco's energy. She was hungry and exhausted.

"Yeah, I'm hungry too. Mommy, can we have seafood? Please?"

The agent's gaze shifted between the mother and son. They were talking as if getting abducted and escaping from death was a part of their daily routine.

However, if the two of them were indeed related to the CEO of the Qi Group, then it was normal for them to react this way.

The agent had heard about Ryan's ruthless deeds.

The man never had a solid relationship with anyone, but had seedy affairs all over the world. He changed his girlfriends as frequently as he would change his clothes.

He wondered if Coco was one of the women he had been with in the past.

The agent couldn't control himself as he watched the mother and son walk away.

"Hello? Excuse me? Can I have your number, please? I'd like to take you out for dinner," he called. The agent didn't want to miss a wonderful girl in his life.

However, his heart sank when Coco didn't respond.

"Carl, did you hear anything?" Coco asked, knitting her brows. She heard the muffled voice of someone calling her but was busy in her thoughts.

"The man wants us to narrate what happened at the cafeteria." Carl grinned sheepishly.

Coco scrunched her nose in distaste. She was already hungry and didn't want to waste her time answering their questions. Coco scurried off the place with her son, fearing that the police would catch up with them.

Carl stuck his head out of his mother's arms and waved at the agent, who was staring at them with wide eyes.

'Thank you for the ice creams. You are a nice man, but I want to find my father.'

The apartment where Coco and her son lived wasn't good enough to raise a child, but this was all she could afford.

Wearing a cartoon printed apron and small paper hat, Carl looked at his mother.

Coco felt guilty to see her little boy in a ragged place.

"Carl, I promise to work hard and make enough money to buy a luxurious house for you."

She clenched her fists to control the emotions that were trying to consume her.

Carl rolled his eyes and let out a weary sigh. He just wanted his mother to be happy.

Satiating one's greed came with a price. The two of them had cleaned the house before moving in. However, there seemed to be other pressing problems that Coco hadn't anticipated.

"Oh, great! Harder!" The muffled voice of a woman resounded through the walls.

Carl tossed and turned on the bed. However, the noise grew louder.

"No, no, don't stop!" Carl groaned and pulled the blanket to cover his head.

"Baby, you are awesome!" The man grunted in appreciation.

Carl's eyes widened; he sat on the bed, wondering what they were doing. The gasps and moans from next door grew louder with every passing second.

Their interaction got vile and cheap. Carl grabbed his blanket and bolted to his mother's room.

He hesitated for a moment before knocking on the door, but there was no response. He thought that his mother was working late again.

"Carl, what are you doing here? Go to bed." Coco took off her headphones and continued to type on the keyboard.

"Oh, yes!" Carl cried dramatically, mimicking the voices from next door.

Coco's jaw dropped in shock.

Carl was only four years old. She didn't want him to get corrupted soon.

"I think our neighbors next door are playing a game. What is it, Mommy?"

Coco continued to stare at her son. How could she answer the boy's innocent question?

Carl was a genius. However, it would be inappropriate to tell him the truth.

"Carl, I think you need this!" She took out a pair of anti-noise earplugs from the drawer.

Carl pouted and returned to his bedroom. Coco closed her eyes. She could hear the moans and ecstatic cries.

Anger surged through her veins. Coco decided to warn the lovers next door the first thing in the morning.

Didn't they know that people would hear them?

"Shut up!" Coco bellowed, slamming the wall. She waited for a few minutes and let out a sigh of relief as the noise finally ceased.
