Chapter 6 In The Snow

It wasn't easy for Maya to get away from the two actresses who were pestering her to add more scenes about them in the play. Thankfully, she finally managed to escape from them. On her way back home, she covered half of her face with her scarf and rubbed her hands together to feel warm.

It was freezing after all. Maya was born afraid of low temperatures, so every time it was winter, she wouldn't be able to stand the freezing weather. Unfortunately for her, this winter was particularly cold. As she stared at the heavy snowfall outside the window of the car, she couldn't resist blowing air into it. She saw the mist condensing into a haze on the window, and it made her feel melancholic.

When the car arrived at the entrance of her community, she paid the fare and stepped out of the car. She was carrying the fresh fish and chicken wings she bought from the supermarket along the way after leaving the set.

Before she could even take another step, she heard the sound of a dog's ecstatic barking, drawing closer and closer. Having a mannerism of lowering her head, she immediately raised her head and noticed a white, fluffy creature sticking out its tongue and rushing towards her.

As soon as it got close enough, it pounced on her.

Yes, the dog jumped on top of her.

"Ah!" Caught off guard, Maya fell on her backside because of the dog's weight. Fortunately, she was able to place her hands on the ground, so that her head wouldn't hit the ground. However, her buttocks got hurt instead.

She bellowed in pain and pushed away the furry animal on top of her. Staring at the fish and chicken wings rolling out of her bags, she was so furious that she glared at the culprit.

"Woof, woof!" The culprit just stuck out its tongue innocently and stared back at her with its irresistible eyes.

When Maya's eyes met the fluffy thing's dark eyes that looked like little grapes, she couldn't bring herself to get mad anymore.

She remembered the dog, mainly because of its name and size. It was actually difficult for her to forget it.

"Beauty, you're being naughty again." She was sitting on the snow, and the dog was wagging its tail and acting cute. If anyone saw her and the dog at such a ludicrous state, that person would probably laugh at her.

Seeing this scene, Yusuf, who was originally apathetic, couldn't help but chuckle. But when he saw Maya's items on the ground, he called his beloved pet and frowned at it.

Hearing the pleasant voice of the young man, Maya raised her eyebrows and gazed into his clear eyes. She couldn't resist the urge to look at his hands and become lost in thought. If Crosby ever saw such slender white hands, she would want to draw them.

But in Yusuf's opinion, she was weird. Meanwhile, Beauty was already on its way to its master when it heard him call its name. Yusuf caressed its head and said helplessly, "Don't mess around like that again." The tone of his voice was full of affection.

Not long after, he approached Maya and stretched out his hand at her. "I apologize for my pet's behavior. It can be a little mischievous sometimes. Are you okay?"

Maya was fazed for a moment when she heard him. This man wasn't a considerate man who would bring other people warmth. She instantly saw through his true nature within a second. He was actually a lonely man who wasn't fond of communicating with other people, especially strangers.

If she was being honest, Maya could manage to stand up by herself, but the man's hand was so beautiful that she couldn't resist her desire to hold it. Slowly, she lifted her hand from the snow, took off her glove, and put her warm hand in his cold hand.

As soon as Yusuf felt the warmth of her touch, he shuddered subconsciously, and almost threw Maya's hand away. But in the end, he pulled her up with all his strength.

She stood up and dusted off the snow on her buttocks. Her nose had turned red from the cold, but her eyes remained bright and clear. She had always disliked talking to strangers, but this apathetic stranger had the common decency to apologize to her. She wasn't going to ignore his sincere efforts. "It's fine. Thank you for helping me," she said.

"Every time Beauty sees a fish, it likes to pounce on it like a cat. Don't worry, I'll compensate you for it." When Yusuf noticed how beautiful the woman's eyes were, it reminded him of his dog's glistening black eyes.

"You don't have to do that." Although Maya was a little annoyed and she wasn't fond of animals, Beauty seemed to be the exception. The dog shook its head and looked so adorable, and because of that, she couldn't get angry anymore.
