Chapter 10 Embarrassed

Whenever something involved Crosby, Andy would become absentminded and act like an abandoned dog. With a pitiful voice, he said, "She told me she's been very busy lately, so she won't let me visit her."

Maya paused for a moment before she spoke in an indifferent tone, "Indeed, she's quite the busybody. You'd best not disturb her."

At this point, Andy didn't know what to say anymore.

"Maya, tell me the truth. Is she..." Andy asked hesitantly after a brief silence. It seemed as though he had been stricken by Maya's ruthless words.

Before Andy could even reach the end of his question, as a scriptwriter, Maya had more or less guessed what he was going to say. She resisted the urge to scoff at him. Instead, she said in a nonchalant tone, "Don't overthink it! In Japan, I doubt that there's anyone that Crosby would fall for. Unless the man in question happens to be Yuki Furukawa, I don't agree with her being with any other man in Japan."

"I don't agree with that either!" Andy responded in a quick, relieved voice after he heard Maya's remark.

"You don't agree?" Maya sneered. In reality, she just didn't want Andy to be worried too much, so she didn't mention the fact that there were people from all over the world who would go to Japan to study, just like Crosby. It wouldn't be impossible for her to fall in love with at least one of them."

Andy was silenced briefly again. "I'm not going to argue with you anymore," he said in a defeated tone. He was well aware that he stood no chance against Maya, so he changed the topic and said, "Anyways, I have to tell you that my friend has a weak constitution. His stomach is quite fragile, you see. Did he eat anything yet? Do you mind if..."

"Stop. I already cooked noodles for him. You'd best get your butt out here as soon as you can." Even though Andy and her best friend were acquainted, she was still not used to talking on the phone in front of a neighbor whom she had only known for a brief period.

Her voice sounded like it came from a young woman from the south of the Yangtze River, albeit it held a little more coldness. Then, she dropped the call with a straight face.

As soon as she turned around, she found that Yusuf had been staring at her with a meaningful look in his eyes.

Maya's face suddenly turned red. Realizing that she had always been quiet and gentle in front of strangers, and that she had talked too much to her best friend's admirer, she couldn't help but feel mildly abashed. Not long after, she cleared her throat and tried to regain her composure.

"You should make yourself comfortable and wait. I'm sure he'll be here soon." As she stood before the sofa, Maya's hair had gotten a little messy around her forehead. She then brushed it away as she took a deep breath. Fearing that her neighbor would feel awkward, she pointed towards the kitchen and said, "You can go ahead and watch TV while you wait. I'll go and wash the dishes."

Even though Yusuf wasn't fond of dealing with people, he had always been good at gauging what people were thinking. The moment he noticed that the young woman was blushing and she tried to hide her embarrassment, a faint smile appeared on his pale face.

It was as if a delicate mannequin had suddenly gained a soul and flashed an ethereal smile. After that, he cleared his throat, and said, "My apologies for causing trouble for you."

At the very least, Maya was glad that he didn't thank her over and over.

However, she was fazed by his charming smile for a second. In her line of work in the entertainment circle, she had never lost her composure, despite the fact that there were countless handsome men everywhere. Even though this man standing before her was as handsome as those well-dressed celebrities, she still managed to recover quickly.

The following moment, she went back to the kitchen to clean up the bowls and chopsticks without any distraction.

Soon, the sound of water could be heard coming from the kitchen. Subconsciously, the sound made Yusuf glance at the kitchen, and he caught a glimpse of Maya's petite figure. Her slender back appeared so tranquil and beautiful.

He just glanced at her for a second before he averted his gaze. This time, a genuinely warm smile was painted across his face as he looked at the corner and waved his hand at the satiated dog.

"Come here, Beauty."

The dog immediately ran towards its master, its figure resembling a giant cotton ball.
