Chapter 4 Yusuf

Maya stared at the dog for a long time. As a human, she felt like it was quite childish of her to look at a dog, so she averted her gaze from it. Wearing thick pajamas, she nestled on the sofa, observing the workers of the furniture company and the mysterious handsome man who were coming in and out of the house across hers.

Then, she thought to herself, 'Nobody else would move during the Spring Festival. That man is just as weird as this dog's name.'

"Woof! Woof!" Maya turned on the TV to resist her boredom. A few moments later when she was just about to doze off, the dog suddenly started barking eagerly.

"Stop barking. Go and play by yourself somewhere else," Maya groaned as she struggled to open her eyes. Hearing the dog's incessant barking was getting on her nerves.

That same night, she wrote four thousand words, and her aching brain was practically begging her to get some rest. When she finally managed to fall asleep, she was awakened by the man and the constant barking of the dog.

"Beauty, hush. Don't make so much noise." This time, a clear and charming voice resounded in Maya's ears. If there were things she appreciated in life, it would be lovely hands and melodious voices. That charming voice she heard obviously caught her attention. Sure enough, the dog stopped barking, and Maya was now attracted by the pleasant sound.

Noticing that the sleeping girl suddenly opened her eyes and stared directly at him, Yusuf was startled, and he awkwardly retracted his hand.

It turned out that the Samoyed was happily barking and wandering around Maya's feet. Frightened by the thought of disturbing Maya, Yusuf carefully crouched down and reached out his hand to hold beauty. However, she was still awoken and was now staring at him.

Silently, the two of them stared into each other's eyes for a while before they averted their gazes due to embarrassment. When Maya got ahold of herself, she cleared her throat and said, "Sir, have you finished cleaning up your house?"

Yusuf successfully picked up his dog and affectionately caressed the dog's fluffy head. When he heard Maya's voice, he immediately answered politely, "I'm sorry if I disturbed you. Anyway, thank you."

Nobody in this world would hate someone who was polite and well-mannered, let alone someone as debonair as this man. His handsome smile was captivating. Maya touched her nose and felt fortunate that she didn't get a nosebleed because of excitement. "You're welcome," she said.

Maya was a homebody that wasn't fond of going outside, and she wasn't keen on dealing with strangers, let alone talking to them. On the other hand, Yusuf was a geek who rarely talked to anyone except his pet. He also knew little about worldly affairs.

So, even if they were neighbors, they still didn't ask for each other's names. After exchanging some polite greetings, they stopped talking.

When the handsome man left, Maya didn't feel disappointed at all. Instead, she happily closed the front door, went back to her room, and continued sleeping.

Meanwhile, Yusuf went back to his own house and turned on the light. He looked at the new home with complete and clean furniture, and felt satisfied.

Once he put Beauty down, he placed a piece of dried meat in a clean bowl. The dog immediately shook its tail in excitement, and enjoyed the late night snack. A few moments later, his phone started buzzing. His only friend was calling him. "Hi, Andy."

A cheerful male voice came from the other end of the line that said, "Are you satisfied with your new house?"

Hearing this, Yusuf swept his eyes across the room again and nodded. Realizing that his friend wouldn't be able to see that he was nodding, he just answered, "Yes."

"Hey, why do you sound so cold? Let me tell you something good. There's a beauty living across your house, don't you know that?" Andy reminded him in a low voice.

Beauty, who was happily eating, sneezed. Its owner reflexively stared at it when he heard the word "beauty" from the other end of the line.

"Hey, hey, I'm not talking about your dog! Your neighbor is a real beauty!" Being Yusuf's only friend, Andy was well aware that Yusuf would think of his dog every time he heard the word "beauty".

Then, Yusuf remembered the girl from earlier. She was indeed beautiful, but what did that have to do with him?
