Chapter 9 A Hint

Harlow took advantage of her unfortunate situation to get two days' leave from her school. During those two days, she did not step out of her dorm room, afraid that if she did, she might run into Michael and Lainey again. After all, she did not want her classmates to look at her in a pitiful way.

"Harlow, someone wants to see you," Jessie said as she pushed aside the mosquito curtain that was draped around Harlow's bed. She was panting and her face was flushed, as though she had run into a handsome man.

Harlow struggled to open her eyes and asked, "Who would want to see me?"

Jessie picked up the vanity mirror from the table and began adjusting her hair. "A handsome man, a very handsome man. Oh my God, Harlow! Tell me, do I look pretty?"

With a puzzled look, Harlow sat up and looked outside the door, but when she saw nothing, she turned around and lay down on the bed again. Since Michael and Lainey's relationship had become the topic of conversation at school, Harlow had become famous for letting a woman get away with stealing her boyfriend. Thinking of her current situation, Harlow wondered, 'Which handsome man would come to me when I have lost everything?'

After tying her hair into a ponytail, Jessie turned around to look at Harlow. However, upon seeing Harlow lying down again, she sighed with disappointment. She then helped Harlow sit up and exclaimed, pointing to the door, "How can you be so calm after what I've just told you? There's a handsome man waiting for you behind that door. Aren't you going to ask him what he wants?"

All of a sudden, Elin, too, rushed over and said, "I can't even begin to describe how handsome he is, Harlow! He is carrying a huge bouquet of roses in his strong arms. Compared to your unfaithful ex-boyfriend, he's like an actual Greek God!"

"Really?" Harlow asked. Noticing her friends' excitement, Harlow decided to walk out the door to see who it was. She stood up, put on her sandals, and headed out of the room.

The giant bunch of red roses was so fresh and bright that it almost blinded Harlow the moment she opened the door.

Besides, the bouquet was so big that she could not see Jason. She quickly turned around and asked, "Where is the handsome man that you guys were talking about? Where did he go?"

"Harlow!"

Jason's seductive voice came from behind the roses, and Harlow immediately turned around.

The moment she saw Jason, her mind went blank.

After all, he was the one who had raped her.

"I found you at last. Are you all right?" Jason asked.

Staring at the pale expression on Harlow's face, he felt his heart skip a beat, and he tried to enter her dorm room.

Harlow remained stunned for a few seconds, but then, she quickly and instinctively closed the door shut, preventing him from entering.

However, Jason was prepared to face that situation. He held the door open while Rory entered.

Jessie and Elin gasped in shock as they watched their friend trying to drive out a man who was as handsome as Jason. To them, it was all confusing as they had never seen such a good-looking man in real life before.

"Miss Leng, my bro has paid you the courtesy of visiting you. Why don't you try to be a bit more civil?" Rory asked as he put down the bouquet of roses on a table. He then pulled up a small chair for Jason to sit. Jessie and Elin watched excitedly as he winked at them before he sat down, immediately attracting their attention.

The moment Harlow saw Jason, the memory of their passionate night together flashed through her mind, making her blush. "I don't know who you are, so please go away," she said.

Just like he had done that night, Jason placed both his hands in his pockets and leaned against the chair. Watching her changing expressions, he asked with a smile, "Why? Don't you remember me? Do you need a hint that can help you remember me?"

Harlow was wearing a short nightdress, which revealed the marks on her chest from the other night. Looking at them, Jason got upset and signaled for Rory to give them privacy. Rory immediately obeyed and escorted the other two girl outside, leaving Jason alone with Harlow.

The room became as silent as a grave the minute Rory closed the door behind them.
