Chapter 8 Interested

Inside the office on the sixty second-floor of the Ling Group.

The Ling Group was a commercial giant that flourished in the tourism industry with its new hotels, as well as its restaurants, real estate businesses, and jewelry stores. It was one of the top companies in the city, and its success was beyond anything that the locals had ever seen before.

Steven Ling, the owner of the Ling Group, was a well-known figure in the city. He had a son, Jason, who was twenty-six years old. Jason was a cold but handsome young man who was single. He was Steven's successor, so naturally, people valued him. Moreover, Jason wasn't lacking in skill. In fact, he was just as remarkable in business matters as his father was.

The view from the tall French windows in the office was so impeccably breathtaking that anyone who looked down from there would think that the world was just a small sphere under their feet.

Dressed in a black suit, Jason sat on his chair and looked out the window, lost in thought. His eyes were cold and deep as he stared into the distance. It wasn't until Rory cleared his throat that he turned around.

"Bro, I have information on the girl you asked me to look into," Rory said.

Every time that Rory looked at Jason, jealousy flooded his heart. Jason was so good-looking that women would fall for him just by taking one look at him. He was so handsome, cool, and rich that even when he was just standing on the pavement, people would turn around to take a second look at him. Rory was also quite good-looking, but he was nothing compared to Jason. In fact, whenever he was with Jason, his self-esteem would plummet. The minute Jason walked into a room, all the women would leave Rory behind and go to him, annoying Rory. However, Rory respected and even worshipped Jason, and was always willing to be his subordinate.

Jason looked at Rory with a smile, waiting for him to continue.

'Why does he have to be so cool?' Rory thought to himself.

"Her name is Harlow Leng. She has just turned eighteen. She is a freshman at Neo Business School. She is a good student with good grades, and she's popular among her peers as well. She is 165 centimeters tall, weighs 99 pounds, and has O-type blood. She loves wearing white clothes. Her favorite food is fresh fruits. She has a remarkable singing voice..." he said.

"Cut the crap!" Jason said with a frown.

Rory gulped hard, and then added nervously, "All right... She had a boyfriend called Michael Tang, a third year student. Apparently, they're a great couple, but they broke up yesterday. I looked into their relationship and found out that Michael dumped her yesterday after he confessed to her about his affair with Lainey Yu. Harlow has been sick ever since and hasn't shown up at school. That's all I know."

Jason's smile widened. 'You can't escape from me, my little bunny,' he thought to himself.

"Go and get ready. You know what to do, right?"

he asked, his eyes gleaming.

Sitting casually on the chair across Jason, Rory said, "Everything is ready, Bro. I am waiting for your command."

With a mischievous smile, Jason stood up and patted Rory on the back. "You've grown up, kid!"

"After being with you for so many years, I will naturally become better at this, won't I?" Rory asked lightly. Rory was not a modest person. However, he would always follow Jason's every command without complaining about it. He knew Jason well enough to know that sometimes, he could be very different from how people saw him. At work, he was always cold and rude, but when he was with women, he was a handsome, sophisticated, and rich companion. Jason was not only successful in business, but also among women, which was the reason Rory admired him so much.

However, he regretted that he had to clean up Jason's mess all the time.

"Isn't Lainey Yu, Paul Yu's daughter?"

Jason asked as he got in his Lamborghini, which was parked outside the company building. He turned around and looked at the bouquet of red roses that were waiting for its recipient in the backseat of the car.

"Yeah, she is. She stole Harlow's boyfriend, and now, the whole school knows about it," Rory said as he started the car.

Jason sneered. He knew about the Yu family because they were popular in A City for their business, too. In fact, he had even met Lainey a few times. Although she was good-looking, Jason was not interested in her. Lainey was one of the most popular girls at school and she was infamous for changing her boyfriends frequently. Jason figured out that Michael must have been just like any other man, who was easily tempted by wealth and beauty. Harlow had trusted the wrong man with her life, and he had left her the minute a wealthy, beautiful woman had walked into his life.

However, Jason was only interested in Harlow. It was her body that had impressed him the most.
