Chapter 8 1 Years Ago Part Two

The boy studied Sally, then looked over at Henry. When he decided that they weren't bad people, he said, "My name is Shawn Yu, and my grandpa's name is Ted Yu."

After listening to Shawn's introduction, Henry said, "Wait here for a moment. I'll let the principal know and ask him to inform your grandfather through the broadcast that you are waiting for him here, okay?"

"Thank you, uncle," Shawn replied politely.

Henry merely smiled at him and left.

After Henry went to find Ted Yu, Windy tried to take Shawn's hand, but he shrugged her off. His face wrinkled as he snatched his hand back. He didn't like it when girls touched him.

When she noticed Shawn's resistance towards her, Windy looked up at him and gave him a bright smile. "Don't be afraid. It's my birthday today, and I'm sharing my birthday cake with all the children. I can give you some, how about that?"

Shawn didn't say anything in reply. He merely allowed Windy to hold his hand and walk with him to the hall. When they arrived, they both shared the cake with all the other children.

After half an hour had passed, Harry led Ted Yu down the hall to look for Shawn. When he heard Ted Yu call out to him, Shawn immediately ran to him and called, "Grandpa!"

"Shawn, I've been looking for you. Are you alright?" Ted Yu studied his grandson and looked at him with concerned eyes.

Shawn shook his head and looked over to Windy, who was standing with the other children. "Grandpa, she was the one who helped me find you."

After hearing this, Ted Yu also looked over to Windy. She gave them an innocent smile in reply, which made her look like a kind-hearted girl. She immediately made a good impression on Ted Yu. He gave her a smile in reply and said, "Thank you, little girl."

"Grandpa, you're welcome. I only did what I had to do." Windy shook her head as she walked up to Ted Yu.

Ted Yu nodded to her with a small smile. He thought that the little girl was sensible, so he asked, "Can you tell me what your name is?"

"My name is Windy," she answered with an innocent smile on her adorable face.

It was this innocent smile of hers that had ingrained itself in Shawn's heart forever. His mind often wandered to the little girl who helped him all those years ago, but Windy had no idea of this.

At present, Windy felt that there was too much baggage between her and Shawn. He wasn't aware that she was the little girl from his past and had no choice but to believe that she was Carol now.

It was late into the night, and it was silent in the Yu's manor.

Windy went back upstairs to the bedroom she shared with Shawn. After she switched the lights on, she glanced around. The room was decorated in festive red, but it still looked and felt lonely.

She felt like she was the only bride in the world that the groom had ditched on their wedding night.

She didn't want to dwell on that fact too much. If she thought about it, it would only devastate her.

Windy was a small woman, but she soon fell asleep in the enormous double bed.

When she woke up the next morning, Windy came downstairs and entered the kitchen. She saw several maids at work preparing breakfast. After Windy came into the room, they all greeted her politely, "Good morning, Mrs. Windy Yu."

"Good morning," she answered with a small smile.

After noticing that Windy was wandering in the kitchen, a housekeeper named Nancy immediately approached her and asked, "Mrs. Windy Yu, is there anything that you need?"

Assuming that her sister was still in the hospital with Shawn, Windy wanted to prepare some porridge for them. With a friendly smile, she replied in a gentle voice, "My sister is ill and has been hospitalized. I wanted to cook some porridge and send it to her."

"Mrs. Windy Yu, breakfast is almost ready. Mr. Ted Yu and Mrs. Anaya Yu should be making their way downstairs any moment now. They're expecting you to accompany them to breakfast later on. We can take care of the porridge," Nancy politely explained. Windy had always been gentle and mild-mannered. Whenever she addressed them, she did so with a bright smile on her face.

Windy was lost in her thoughts for a moment. It would be the first time she would have breakfast with her grandfather and mother-in-law. If she made the porridge, they would have to wait for her before they could have breakfast, and that would be impolite of her. She merely nodded to Nancy and said, "Thank you."

"Mrs. Windy Yu, this is something we should do for you. If you need any help, please don't hesitate to ask."

As soon as Nancy finished speaking, the other maids nodded in agreement. "Yes, Mrs. Windy Yu, please tell us if you need anything."

Windy was touched to see all the servants of the Yu Clan acting so friendly towards her. Ted and her mother-in-law were also reasonable people. She felt like she didn't need to worry about fitting in with the Yu Clan anymore.

"Thank you, everyone," Windy thanked them politely and left the kitchen.

It was getting late in the morning. Windy didn't know if Shawn had gotten back from the hospital yet, so she went upstairs to check their room if he arrived.

After confirming that Shawn wasn't back yet, Windy returned downstairs to have breakfast with a look of disappointment on her face.

"Grandpa, Mom," Windy greeted politely when she noticed Ted and Anaya Zhao seated in the dining room. They were about to have their breakfast.

When they noticed Windy enter the room, Ted greeted her with a smile, "Windy, come and have breakfast with us."

She replied with a gentle smile and said, "Okay."

After sitting down in the chair opposite Anaya Zhao, she heard her ask, "Why are you here alone, Windy? Where's Shawn?"

When he heard Anaya Zhao's question, Ted finally noticed that Shawn hadn't come in with Windy. His brows furrowed when he looked at her. "That's right, why didn't he come downstairs to have his breakfast?"

Windy was momentarily stunned by their sudden questions about Shawn. She stuttered when she answered, "He..."

Ted immediately placed his chopsticks down when he heard the apprehension in Windy's voice. His face suddenly became sullen. "Tell me the truth, Windy. Did Shawn stay at home last night?" he asked in a firm tone.

Anaya Zhao was surprised by his question. Her brow wrinkled in confusion, and she asked, "Wasn't Shawn home last night?"

"How dare he leave his wife all alone on their wedding night! This is outrageous!" Ted yelled. He was furious with Shawn.
