Chapter 8 Unpredictable

When Layne returned to his office, he thought of the slightly panicked look on Amanda's face and the uneasy look in her eyes.

He thought she was just a relative of an ordinary senior executive, but today she was called by Danny. If she was a relative of Danny, why was she so fearful and acted as if she had been exposed.

Was she the mistress of Danny? But Layne also knew that the women around Danny were all gorgeously dressed. Compared with them, Amanda was nothing.

Maybe Danny was tired of the delicacies and wanted some light food.

Layne patted his forehead. Why did he think so much about that woman. He didn't care whether she was the mistress of the CEO or not. As long as she worked hard, wasn't it enough?

After graduation, Layne worked in the company of Danny. Because of his outstanding working ability, Layne became the youngest director of the company. He was a very ambitious man. For so many years, such a young talent should not be worried about finding a girlfriend, but Layne was still single.

He knew that he had a crush on Amanda, but he was a smart man. He knew what he should and shouldn't touch. Compared with Amanda, he had something more precious.

At this time, the phone rang and it was a message from Jake.

"Come to the underground parking lot."

Seeing Amanda, Jake put out his cigarette, opened the door and got in.

Amanda also carefully sat in the back row.

Their destination was a big shopping mall, full of luxury brands. Amanda followed Jake into the mall, she was not in harmony with the atmosphere of the whole mall.

Jake strode forward, suddenly stopped and looked back. He saw Amanda walking slowly a few meters away. She looked flinched, and the surrounding magnificent scene made her look very shabby.

Jake shook his head secretly. He didn't know why Danny liked her.

Her legs were wrapped in a pair of dark gray silk stockings, and the shopping guide found a pair of red flat shoes for Amanda to wear.

Jake nodded with satisfaction.

He picked a black baby collar overcoat and several clothes of similar style and asked the shopping guide to pack.

When the bill was paid, Amanda saw a long string of numbers on the receipt and shrugged her shoulders in horror.

Then she adjusted her posture again, as if in this suit, Amanda was not the same as before, and she could not be so stingy.

After buying the clothes, Jake took Amanda to a beauty salon. It turned out that Amanda's hair was a simple black straight woman. The bald director worked for a few hours and made Amanda's hair dark brown. Her waist length hair was cut to the shoulder blade, and there were a few faint bangs.

A female assistant came to fix Amanda's eyebrows, and then brought a cosmetic cover box as ordered by Jake. She patiently guided Amanda how to wear light makeup.

Amanda nodded obediently. She was not an idiot in life. When she was in the dormitory, she had learned a lot of makeup skills from her roommates.

After getting in the car, the two of them kept silent. While Jake was driving, Amanda was looking out of the window with her face propped up.

But it didn't seem to be the way to her home.

"You stay at Mr. Danny's house tonight." Amanda was taken aback by Jake's sudden words.

What was supposed to come would come sooner or later.

Amanda let out a little sigh, which was keenly perceived by Jake.

Those women who wanted to cling to Danny were eager to be favored by him. Why did she sigh?

He really couldn't understand this silly girl.

Danny's house was so big, just like the castle in Amanda's impression. It was so big that she didn't know if Danny was at home. A nanny came out and arranged a room for Amanda.

She didn't know when her parents could live in such a house with her own efforts.

Thinking of this, Amanda fell asleep.

Such a gentle person must not be Danny. Then who could it be?

But Amanda was too sleepy to open her eyes.

The second morning, Amanda got up early. She changed into the clothes she wore yesterday and went out. Amanda lived in a room on the second floor. When she walked out, she saw Danny reading newspaper in the living room.

Danny looked at her with an unreadable expression in his eyes.

The two looked at each other for a long time. Danny said unhappily, "Come down for dinner. I said I would take you out today, didn't I?"

Amanda went to wash her face and brush her teeth sulkily. After having breakfast downstairs, she went out with Danny.

Danny and Amanda sat in the back row.

Amanda still habitually looked out of the window, feeling that Danny was looking at her. But when she turned her head, Danny looked as usual, with a gloomy face and his eyes closed for rest.

Jake drove the car and saw from the rearview mirror that Danny was peeking at Amanda. Jake felt funny. 'Mr. Danny, you are such a cold man but you even look like a young girl now.

It seems that the silly girl doesn't know that she is asked to stay with Danny by Danny.'

As for Amanda, Jake suddenly didn't hate her so much. Instead, he felt that these two people were very interesting.

Amanda looked at the car driving farther and farther away. It should be out of the city and stopped in front of a simple and magnificent house.

It was a sanatorium.

What were they doing here?

"Get off the car." Danny ordered.
