Chapter 10 Jiang Group

Michelle held Emily's hand and said gently, "Don't worry, Emily. It's not a big deal. I'll put a band-aid on it later, and everything will be fine."

Michelle smiled reassuringly as if the wound on her arm didn't hurt at all.

Despite her words, Emily was still worried. Once they were back home, Olivia disinfected Michelle's wound and put a band-aid on it.

Emily only spent another two days in China after that. When she was about to leave, the two friends hugged each other and reluctantly said their goodbyes.

Someone once said that the moment of separation was the most painful part, and he was right.

After Emily was gone, Michelle had no choice but to return to her old calm everyday life.

The next morning, Michelle woke up to her phone ringing. She looked blankly at the device vibrating on the bedside table and rubbed her painful temples before reaching out to pick it up.

"Hello?"

"Is that Miss Michelle Wang? I'm calling from Jiang Group. You've sent us your resume online. We were quite impressed by it, so we would like to have you in our company for an interview at 9:30 this morning."

'Oh my God! Did I hear it right?'

Michelle couldn't believe the Jiang Group was actually calling her! This was one of the most renowned companies in the world. Certainly, there were a lot of people waiting in queue to get in. But Michelle seemed to be lucky this time. Otherwise, she wouldn't have just gotten an invitation for an interview.

"Miss Wang, are you still there?" Noticing that there was no answer on the other end of the line, the caller interrupted her stream of thoughts.

Michelle recomposed herself and replied, "Yes!"

As soon as she cleaned up, she took out from her wardrobe a suit she had bought during her college internship. Although it was a little old-fashioned, it still looked good on her.

She headed out in a hurry without having any breakfast. She didn't even have the time to put on some makeup, but since she was a natural beauty, she believed it was expendable.

When she arrived at the company, Michelle got interviewed in a small meeting room, and gladly, everything went well.

"Congratulations, Miss Wang! You have been admitted to our company!"

Michelle put on a polite smile and shook hands with the interviewer.

The next moment, she followed a colleague to her boss's office. When faced with the closed door, she felt like she suddenly couldn't breathe.

"Sir, the newcomer is here," her colleague said after knocking on the door.

"Let her in."

The next moment, the woman standing next to Michelle pushed the door open for her and left right after. Since this was Michelle's first job, she couldn't help feeling a little nervous.

She used to work part-time in small restaurants but had never landed a job in such a large company like this one.

The man in the office seemed a little impatient. He said coldly, "Why are you still standing outside? If you don't want this job, there are a lot of people in the queue behind you who are willing to take it."

As soon as Michelle heard his harsh words, she didn't waste any more time and hurried into the room.

She looked around the office and noticed it was quite spacious. However, the man sitting behind the large desk in the center still had his back towards her, so Michelle couldn't see his face. Once she laid eyes on the metallic plate on the desk, she was dumbfounded.

It read, "Scott Jiang, CEO."

She remembered writing on her resume that she was looking for a job as an assistant in the financial department of the company. How come she had been designated to work with the CEO when she had so little experience?

"You majored in financial management at Princeton University. You are 22 years old." As the words fell from his mouth, the man sitting on the chair turned at the same time.

Scott's eyes were so cold that people didn't dare to look straight at him.

He examined Michelle from head to toe. Considering that she had studied abroad, he thought he would see a stunning woman standing in front of him, but that was not the case.

Especially in regards to the old-fashioned suit she was wearing.

"You have a good resume but a terrible sense of fashion," Scott couldn't help but say. Then, as if something suddenly occurred to him, he added, "From now on, you work as my personal secretary. You're on a three-month probation period. If you are not able to handle your tasks, I have the right to fire you at any time."

"Okay," Michelle replied timidly.
