Chapter 9 A Drink

"Hello, miss. Would you like to have a drink with me?"

A stranger in a suit approached Michelle. He didn't look so bad.

Still, Michelle shook her head and smiled apologetically. "Sorry, I don't drink."

The corner of the man's lips curled in disdain. "Then why are you here? Women like you are all pure and innocent on the surface but are actually all dirty inside."

"Sir, excuse me, I'm here with a friend," Michelle told him and stood up to leave. But the next moment, he grabbed her wrist.

He held her so forcefully it made her wince.

"You'll drink with me tonight, no matter what!" The man's voice was loud and clear as he handed her a glass of wine.

His words managed to attract the attention of some people around them, but they were all too used to this sort of situation that happened every day in a bar. Therefore, no one cared about it.

Since Emily had long disappeared into the dance floor, Michelle had no idea where her friend was now.

Suddenly, a slapping sound echoed in the air as the man's dark eyes flashed in disgust.

After Michelle dared to slap him, the stranger became even more furious. The grasp of his hand around her wrist only tightened. Michelle struggled with pain, but to no avail.

"Let her go."

A sudden voice came from behind the man. The command was so cold that Michelle felt as if they were in the South Pole even though it was summer.

Without releasing her, the man turned to face the other one. Since he had drunk a lot, he could barely stand on his feet. He then staggered as if he was about to fall at any second.

The bar was ablaze with colorful lights coming out of everywhere. Although Michelle couldn't see her savior's face clearly, she felt there was some sort of kingly aura around him.

In the meanwhile, Michelle kept trying to get away from her harasser's hold but still couldn't succeed. At this moment, he asked the other guy, "What's wrong, mate? I'm teaching my woman a lesson. Are you sure you want to get involved in this?"

Scott glanced at Michelle and then said to the man, "Go away!"

His tone was light, but people could still feel the authority behind his words. Even Michelle couldn't help feeling her heart pounding in her chest, intimidated.

"I'll say it for the last time, go away!" Scott ordered between his teeth, unwilling to give the other man a chance to argue.

At this time, Emily also came out of the dance floor. As she saw a stranger grabbing Michelle's wrist, she was instantaneously furious. Walking over them, she shouted, "Hey, how dare you bully my friend? Do you want to die?"

The man looked between Emily's scowl and Scott's icy glare. He knew the situation was no longer favorable for him, so he let go of Michelle's arm rather forcefully before running away.

Unable to keep her balance, Michelle fell to the ground embarrassedly. Realizing she had scratched her elbow, she inhaled and clenched her teeth in pain.

When Scott saw her fall, his heart sank. He wanted to pull her up from the ground immediately, but someone had already stepped ahead.

Emily squatted down in front of Michelle. After examining the injury in her elbow, she slowly supported her friend to her feet and asked, "Are you okay? Can you walk?"

Michelle nodded. As Emily led her out of the bar, she didn't forget to look back at Scott and thank him with her eyes.

After they got out, Emily signaled for a taxi to stop.

Sitting in the car, Emily looked at Michelle's wound and apologized, "It's all my fault. I didn't protect you well. I shouldn't have left you to dance. Damn it!"
