Chapter 9 Crisis Ridden

The bus was now out of control but still kept moving forward so fast because of the momentum. Wendy took a quick look outside, making sure not to reveal her location, and saw that they were about to reach a bend. If she couldn't take control of the bus soon, it would crash into the department store in front of them.

As she thought of her mother's and Harold's miserable deaths in previous life, Wendy glanced at them quickly. Did the God watching over them want her to be reborn only to go to hell with everyone once again?! No! No! No!

The sniper didn't take another shot after killing the driver. Wendy wasn't sure if the killer was still hiding somewhere waiting for them to reveal themselves, or if they had already gone outside his shooting range, leaving him unable to shoot.

After struggling to break free from her mother's clutch, she quickly ran toward the driver's seat.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!" The bullets went through the window at the back of the bus and the broken glass scattered all over the floor.

The passers-by on the road got startled when they heard the sound of the glass shattering. Feeling so curious, they looked at the bus that had clearly gone out of control, speeding like crazy.

"Wendy! What on earth are you doing?! Come back here this instant! It's dangerous there. Come back here quickly!" Sara shouted in horror.

As she got a hold of the steering wheel, Wendy quickly turned it, shifted gears, and stepped on the gas. Just like that, she managed to drive the bus smoothly through a sharp turn.

If Wendy hadn't been able to take control of the bus in time, none of them would have survived that crash!

The scene of her mother's and Harold's tragic deaths in her previous life flashed through her eyes once again. When she saw the blood on the steering wheel, her hands started trembling slightly, and she suddenly felt sick again.

Wendy took a deep breath and tried to pull herself together. After all, she couldn't afford to throw up now. There was no way to tell whether they were already in the clear or there were still people targeting them, so she couldn't stop the bus.

Through the rearview mirror, Wendy noticed that her mother looked like she was about to stand up and walk toward her. In a hurry, she shouted, "Harold, help me stop my mom!"

Hearing his name being called out by a total stranger, Harold couldn't help but frown a little. However, he still grabbed a hold of Sara at once.

Since Sara couldn't shake Harold off, she had no choice but to just shout anxiously, "Wendy, come over here right away. It's too dangerous to stay there!"

"All of us will be dead if no one's driving. Mom, please hide yourself well, I'll be very careful!" Wendy yelled out as she stepped on the gas again.

The passengers, who were waiting at the bus station, stood up from their seats when they saw the bus approaching. However, they never would've expected that the bus would just keep moving forward, as though the driver didn't even see them at all.

"Stop! Stop! Why didn't the bus stop?"

"What's wrong with the driver? Why didn't you stop the bus when there are so many people standing here?! We should file a complaint! The driver refused to take passengers!"

"Wow, I think I just saw a teenage girl sitting in the driver's seat."

"Are you kidding me? A teenage girl? Has the driver gone crazy?"

Since there weren't really that many vehicles on the road, Wendy was able to drive to the town with ease.

The man staying in the hotel room said on the two-way radio, "There are still people inside the bus. But, it is now out of my shooting range."

"Fuck! Go back to your team, and we'll let the second team take care of it!"

"Got it!"

The domestic vehicles weren't of good quality at that time. For that reason, Wendy was having some difficulty driving such a big bus. She had been stepping so hard on the gas that her foot was beginning to get numb.

The road was full of bumps and potholes. As if that wasn't bad enough, she also had to be wary of the bullets shooting from the dark while driving the vehicle.

Checking the rearview mirror, she noticed that there were cars that were clearly following them behind. Seeing that, Wendy shifted gears and drove even faster!

Harold looked up at the mountain in front of him, trying to locate the figures of the people trying to kill them. There was no way they were going to give up that easily.

From the mountain, a light suddenly reflected in his eyes. Harold tried to remain composed and quickly warned, "Be careful. The direction is three o'clock."

Before Harold could even finish what he was saying, Wendy's body reacted almost instantly, and she turned the steering wheel.

"Bang!" In the blink of an eye, the right side mirror got shattered.

"Fuck!" The sniper from the second team saw through the scope of the gun that his target had been concealed by the bus and had gone out of sight. Given the situation, he had no choice but to aim at the bus's tires to force the bus to stop.

"Go left!" Harold guessed what they were planning and immediately told Wendy.

If the right front wheel were to get punctured, the bus would turn hard right. If the driver slammed on the brake, the bus would swerve to right in an instant, and then it could turn around and dash toward the roadside or even topple over.

If their goal was to kill off everyone, then blowing off the tire was their best option. The impact that would be caused by puncturing the front tires would be much more serious compared to that of the back ones. They were about to reach another sharp turn. The killer fired a few more shots, but Wendy managed to dodge several bullets.

As she thought of that, Wendy suddenly pulled up the brake, locking the back tires. Due to the intense speed they were going, most of the force of the back tires had been lost.

"Hold on tight!" Wendy shouted.

The bus then took a sharp turn. Sara got thrown off the ground and crashed into the backseat.

"Ah!" With tears in her eyes, Sara stared at the thin figure in front of her. She just couldn't believe her eyes.

Wasn't her girl constantly getting carsick? Why was she suddenly driving? Moreover, when did she learn to drive? She didn't know anything about it at all!

"Bang!" The person hiding in the grass fired two shots but only hit the ground.

"Fuck!"

"What the hell! How can they possibly know where I'm going to shoot? And they're going so fast!" The members of the second team cursed angrily, feeling so frustrated.

"Report, the second team failed to get rid of the target."

"Damn it! Is the third team ready?" A roar of fury came from the two-way radio.

The bus sped along the side of the mountain, leaving a trail of dust, obstructing the view of the car behind.

The third team was now driving in hot pursuit. Noticing that the distance between the two vehicles was growing farther and farther, the team members took out their pistols and aimed at the bus in front of them, taking several shots.

However, the bullets missed their target as they weren't really within firing range.

The third team could only watch as the bus disappeared into the distance, and they reported on the two-way radio, "We lost them, sir."

"What a bunch of useless trash! Pull back!" The furious voice came through the two-way radio.

In the bus, although there hadn't been any gunshots for a while now, Wendy didn't dare to relax her vigilance. All this time, she had never slowed down the bus at all.

After taking a look at their surroundings, Harold whispered, "We should be safe now."

Wendy kept driving for a while. When they arrived at the door of a small clinic, she stepped on the brake and pulled over.

Wendy leaned against the seat, trying to catch her breath. Needless to say, she was sweating all over.

Sane got up and said to Harold, "Send the driver to the clinic right away."

Glancing at the lifeless body on the floor Harold simply shook his head and said, "He's already long dead."

Completely ignoring the lifeless body on the floor, Sara anxiously ran to Wendy's side. As the tears fell down her cheeks, she asked, "Wendy, are you all right? Did you get hurt anywhere?"

"Mom, I'm fine. I..." Seeing the tears dripping from her mother's eyes, Wendy was about to comfort her. But, when she saw the body on the floor, the nausea she had been trying to suppress in her heart finally caught up with her.

Due to that, she rushed out of the bus and ran toward the tree by the roadside to throw up.

Wearing a deep frown, Harold got out of the bus as well. When he saw the pained expression on the girl's face, he wanted to gently pat her back.

However, just as he was about to put his hand on her back, Harold's eyes widened in surprise.
