Chapter 6 Entrance Examination

Shelly just couldn't wrap her mind around it. Her father, the director of the largest building materials factory in the county, was always admired by other people. Wendy was nothing but a bastard without a father. Why should she be afraid? Remembering how she got scolded by her father, Shelly became so furious.

"Hey, Wendy, didn't the flowerpot kill you?" Shelly teased Wendy, looking up at her head in quite a provocative manner.

Hearing this, Bess was already about to hurl curses at her. But, before she could do so, Wendy quickly pulled her arm and simply smiled, "A mad dog is howling. We can't do anything to stop it. Why would you bother arguing with a dog?"

Bess pouted, clearly feeling dissatisfied. Wendy, on the other hand, smiled and patted the back of her hand to calm her down. At that moment, no one noticed how Wendy kept glancing at Shelly's chair with a faint smile on her face.

"Clap!"

"Ah!" With an audible noise, the leg of Shelly's chair got broken, and she fell to the floor all of a sudden.

The students who were startled for a moment suddenly burst into a fit of laughter. Bess pounded the desk and laughed loudly, and exclaimed, "You asked for it. Now you get what you deserve!"

Watching as Shelly fell down and was in so much pain that she couldn't stand up right away, Wendy lowered her head and a faint sneer appeared on her lips.

George had an indecent desire for her mother, Caroline insulted her mother and wanted to beat her at the hospital, and Shelly was the one who dropped a flowerpot onto her head and got her injured. The old grudges, and the new ones. Wendy had planned to get revenge on them. After keeping it in for so long, she just couldn't take it anymore.

For that reason, Wendy had come to school early today, then she made Bess go out for a while. After that, she kicked off one leg of Shelly's chair and fixed it with glue.

Just as planned, the moment Shelly sat down, the chair immediately fell to the ground because of her weight.

When they heard the news, several teachers hurriedly came over to pick Shelly up and had her sent to the hospital at once. Given her background in the county, what happened to her was something that the teachers couldn't afford.

Just recently, Wendy had an accident, and now Shelly got injured. As she thought about the school leadership election, the head teacher of their class, Donna Lu, couldn't hold back her anger.

Seeing that Bess was the one who laughed at Shelly the loudest, Donna Lu walked up to her and furiously pointed at her. "Bess, as a punishment, you go stand at the back of the classroom today."

"What? Why?" Bess asked, confusion written all over her face.

"Why? Look at you. Last time Wendy got hurt, and now it was Shelly. Can you please behave yourself and not cause trouble for your teacher?" Donna reproached.

"Why! I'm not the one who hurt them! Why do I have to get punished! I won't accept this!" Bess protested, wearing a deep frown.

However, Donna asked her furiously, "Will you do or not?"

Noticing that Bess turned her head to the side with a stubborn look on her face, Wendy grabbed a hold of her hand and said to the teacher in a rather cold tone, "Miss Donna, you should know very well who was responsible for my injury. It has nothing to do with Bess whatsoever. Besides, the chairs at our school are of poor quality. That was the reason why Shelly fell down. It doesn't have anything to do with us. You can ask the other students in our class if you still don't believe me."

Seeing the sincerity in Wendy's eyes, Donna was left at such a loss for words. Pausing for a while, she sighed and said, "Okay, I believe you. Just forget it."

After Donna went out, Bess made a face to Wendy and chuckled, "That old witch made me angry!"

Seeing Bess being so frank, Wendy couldn't help smiling. Then, she took out a packet of cookies from her schoolbag and handed it over to her.

"Yeah! Wendy, you're so kind to me. This really tastes good!" Bess cheerfully whispered to Wendy.

For the next couple of days, Wendy was able to lead a peaceful life. Since Shelly fell and got injured, she hadn't been to school for a few days. Thanks to that, the classroom became so quiet.

Recently, Wendy had been spending most of her time studying. To get the answers to questions she couldn't understand, not only did she ask help from the good students, but she even went to the teachers' office as well.

The teachers were amazed by how hard Wendy was studying. Of course, everyone liked students who were diligent, so no one wanted to question why she suddenly wanted to study hard.

On their mid-term exam, quite surprisingly, Wendy ended up taking first place in the class and was even ranked among the top ten in their grade. This outcome made Donna very happy. Having a student with excellent grades in her class would be a great help to promote her to be a school leader.

Donna was in such a good mood that she even thought that Bess, the girl who had given her much headache before, was so lovely at that time.

After Shelly recovered, she returned to class like nothing happened and continued to pick on Wendy from time to time. Be that as it might, at that time, Wendy's focus was solely on her studies. Meaning to say, she completely ignored her.

In the junior high school entrance exam, Wendy got the first place in the entire school and because of that, she was directly admitted to the best high school in the county.

Shelly failed the entrance exam. But, in order to give her a better learning environment, her father had used his money to send her to the junior section of the No. 1 High School in the city.

As a result, Shelly and Wendy were no longer studying at the same school. Now that there was no annoying Shelly around her, Wendy was able to enjoy her time at school.

Ever since she got discharged from the hospital, Wendy had never seen Derek. Not even once. There were times when she wanted to ask her mother if anything had happened between them, but when it came to matters that had to do with Derek, her mother would immediately change the topic every single time.

Since they did quite well with just the two of them in her previous life, Wendy decided to just drop the issue and didn't want to ask anymore. In this life, she didn't go abroad, nor did she have any racing car. She never met Harold. In this life, she had chosen a completely different path from the previous one.

Without driving, all she could do was work hard to be able to give her family a better life through her own efforts.

Time flew. The results of senior high school entrance examination were now out. Wendy took first place in the whole county, while Bess was the second. Both of them managed to enter the No.1 High School in the city.

Bess's parents gratefully walked up to her and said, "Thank you so much, Wendy. Bess is such a wild girl. It took a great amount of effort just to get her to study hard when she was little. If it weren't for you helping her through the years, she would've probably only made it to the No. 3 High School or one of the bad local schools."

"Actually, Bess is very smart, but it's just that she doesn't have much patience. If you just try to talk to her, I'm sure she will listen to you."

Pulling a long face, Bess said, "I have already entered No.1 High School. Can't you just congratulate me on my performance? I'm always the one being criticized."

"Okay, Bess, you did great! I'll treat you to a sumptuous feast in the city," Bess's father, Luther Du playfully said and laughed.

If they were going to the city, that meant they would have to take a car. At the thought of this, Wendy couldn't help but frown. She shook her head and said with a smile, "Please go ahead and enjoy your meal. I have something to do at home, so I won't be able to go with you."

"What is it?"

"Well, I can't really go from our house to the No. 1 High School in the city on a bike daily. So, we have to move to the city."

"Aren't you going to live in the school?" Luther asked.

"No, I won't. I want to live at home with my mom," Wendy quickly replied, shaking her head. The tragedy that her mother had gone through in her previous life was still vivid in her mind. Wendy couldn't help but worry about her having to live alone.

"Well, we'll be leaving first then."

"Okay, goodbye," Wendy said, waving her hand at Bess.
